Boy soprano Aksel Rykkvin, as 'Anthony', sings from Purcell arias 'Evening hymn' (duet with soprano Katherine Watson) and 'They tell us that your mighty powers' at his 'mother' Miranda's funeral service.

The theatricality accompanying this Purcell pion during a funeral service is stunning. How well Aksel and the other singer-players convey the heartfelt and sad moments that brings their Purcell funereal-piece so beautifully to life? Makes you wonder how many other sung pieces, one thinks of Robert Schumann and others, that could also similarly be 'theatrically sung'. Thank you

This is very touching, Aksel. You have moved me deeply. Please enjoy your last several months of singing with an unbroken voice; I think your voice is going through the process mine went through earlier this year and there is now no doubt that it is changing. I look forward to being able to hear your 'grown up' voice in the future.

Dear Aksel..... Remember me? I am so heartbroken and, suddenly, I got a message informing about this new video. I decided to write and say that my dear father, Mozart, of whom I told you about, who enjoyed so much classical music and played the violin, passed away last October 6th and, as we are Catholics, his 7th day mass was yesterday, October 13th, his 87th Birthday..... When he was ill, but still at home,, I showed him your videos and he admired you so much, not only for your voice, but specially for your care in answering our comments. Thanks for having granted him some minutes of good music. I am sure it was very good for his heart and his soul.

I just saw this on the RUclips app on the AppleTV box, which didn't show the complete title; I had no idea this wasn't real-I thought that woman might have been his voice teacher, since many of the attendees were excellent singers and knew the aria. Needless to say it was very convincing and emotional, amazing performance.

When I watched this I could understand how that boy felt. Cause when my dad died 42 years ago I was a little child myself and found me in exactly that situation. I hat to sing in front of an audience - a song not of love but the text was about that we have to pass away some day and that our Lord will still be our savior. But that day I didn't feel anything while singing. No fear, no hate, no angry ... but afterwards I was so terribly sad that Icoudn't move anymore. I stood still, pale and in die end shivered so bad. I whished to run away but coudn't. I hadn't thought of this for so many years but it all came back just the second that boy went in front of all the people there. And he became me and I became him, that lonely and grieving child again. I thought never to feel that way again.

Best of luck to you with your voice change, Aksel. One piece of voice change experience I will offer is that I found that during the change the lower end of my treble range was actually weaker than the higher end - there was a while during my change where I preferred to sing Soprano over Alto because the notes around middle C just were not there. It straightened out by the time I was singing tenor, though. The SATB boychoir (yes, they exist) I joined after encouraged tenors and basses to develop and use their falsettos, so I managed to not lose it entirely. So it may not be quite the same, but you might not necessarily have to lose ALL of these notes.

But the two times you are singing are beautiful but your voice is going to change. So it's why, I think, you have to work with your voice teacher romantic lieds.
By the way when your second cd will be disponible ? Enjoy. 😊

That's true, and actually my voice teacher just gave me some barytone songs by romantic composers Chausson and Fauré that I will start looking at soon.

Now, now that the sun hath veil’d his light
    And bid the world goodnight;
To the soft bed your body we dispose,
But where shall my soul repose?
Dear, dear mother, even in thy arms,
And can there be any so sweet security!
Then to thy rest, O my soul!
    And singing, praise the mercy
    That prolongs thy days.
    Hallelujah!
and we could in turn adore his daughter
even if we have suffered a lot for your power,
    My love, like yours,

You have accomplished so much in so little time. My son is also interested in these stuff, history etc. He is 13 now. I wish he watched this a year before. He also has a good voice. He can speak even better than us I confess. I feel very sorry that he had not seen this a year or two ago. He would have been very inspired by this. By the way where was this done ?

Thank you for this, yes it's been a rollercoaster ride :) Best of luck to your son! This was recorded at the Opéra Comique in Paris.

Siempre estaremos atentos a ti.

THANK YOU for all the wonderful videos you have provided those of us who have been blessed over the past few years of hearing your superb talents. We will always have those to enjoy again and again. Please be patient with the period of change. Maybe a few years even, but be easy. THANK YOU!

It can be found just under its title on the internet. The name of the piece is "Now that the Sun Hath Veiled his Light." The boy is singing it in English, even though the subtitles appear to be in German. Choral music by 17th century English composer Henry Purcell. Listen to the men's choir Chanticleer do it on the internet.

Maravilloso!..pero...tengo una duda muy seria: ¿Esto es real? ¿Es el funeral de la madre el niño?.- Entonces: ¿Quien fue el insensible (por no llamarle de otro modo),l que le increpa de ese modo en semejante momento?
