I'm working on environmentals, which means the dog is neutral to the environment and things in it no matter what. I'm showing him the blow dryer and avalanche of empty water bottles! We just adopted our first huskies from the shelter, a mom and one of her puppies. I can already tell they're so smart, but they consider obedience optional. :D Thank you for the feeding and training demo.

What is your recommendation for raw chicken? You never use raw meat or just not when they are in puppy stage?
When is the best time to train the dog with treats? Before meal, after meal or between and how long is a session should last for a puppies?

You can feed raw at any age, even puppies. I give raw sometimes, but do not use when hand feeding. I own a bunch of other dogs so personally a kibble based diet is easiest for me. But I do compliment the kibble with various things like Tripe etc.
A typical puppy session should be anywhere between 10 - 30 min depending what you’re working on. The more mentally challenging the session the shorter it should be. I prefer to train with the pups daily kibble by hand instead of treats. If I do use a ‘treat’ it’s baked chicken and I use for luring exercises like heeling etc.

How many session I can do a day with the dog? For example if I do a 10-15 min mental training in the morning before breakfast and 10-15 min obedience before dinner meal that perfectly normal or I should just do one a day?
I am working with a 16weeks old Belgian M and an almost 21 weeks old Dutch shepherd.
@@boat_life Yes the two sessions a day is great. And if some days you can get in 3-4 sessions, 10-15 min each, that is even better 👍🏻

What kind of kibble do you use ? I have an 8 week old atm and I’m trying to sort his meals out 200g a day split over 4 times is what I’ve been told as he’s not used for working but he will be a lot more active when a little older ect

I’m not sure off the top of my head. I’d just google tripe then your zip code.
First steps of training is teaching the dog how to learn. Then build engagement, confidence and stack up the wins for the dog 👍🏻

Hi Andy, how much should you be feeding your pup? I understand the drive for food, creating hunger, however how much should a malinois be eating at this age to ensure they are growing strong and that I'm not under feeding to stunt any growth or progress
Generally speaking, 3-4 cups of high quality kibble per day is perfect 👌🏼

Hi! I have a question! Please help! So...i have a Belgian Melinois. He is 6 month old. When I feed hem..he growls at me if I put my hand in he's bowl of food. If I ask hem to let it go..he obeys, but if I just go and put my hand near he's mouth...he is aggressive. Do I ask to much from hem?

Thanks! Yes raw. We actually buy from a local raw food provider. If you google search ‘Tripe for dogs’ you can order online in your area 👍🏻
How long do I feel my pup puppy chow?
What happens if the the puppy doesn’t have nerves of steel and is really bothered by the technique? Please answer would be great since this is what I’m worried about, I have a dog and she gets really mad when I bother her while she is eating.
I would recommend not doing this exercise in that case. It is designed for a specific kind of puppy 🙏🏼
My male malinois is much larger than average. He's likely 12.5% GSD, but I've done no dna testing to confirm that. He does have the GSD face/under chin moles, though. He was almost 20lbs at his 12wk vaccination, and was still a relatively appropriate, slim physique, pure malinois look. Now at 16wk he's got to be nearly 30lbs, and still slim enough to see ribs. 1-2cups divided over 3 meals each day as recommended by my vet and many others was nowhere near enough food. I get him a ton (3-6 hr daily) of walk/run exercise, tug time, and obedience training. Seems like you are adding a good amount of nutrition on top of those 2cups with the tripe and coconut oil. Do you only do the 2 dish meal once per day? Also, how much additional treats does your dogs get during training at 16wk? My guy is heavily food motivated and had been a bit food aggressive, even though now training has nearly eliminated that behavior.
How do you come up with the amounts of food you feed your puppies and dogs?

I feed my puppies 2x per day. If the puppy does not have high food drive, it may be fed too much and/ or too often. I would decrease quantity and frequency of feeding to increase motivation to eat 👍🏻

Can i start at any age with the environmentals?
Yes you can, within reason. Start small and build up as puppy gets used to the stimulus. You need to first have very high food drive so it makes it easy for puppy to disregard what’s going on around them while they eat!

I do yes. Since I have a lot of dogs I use a high quality kibble, but raw is certainly the healthiest diet 👍🏻

Why you are doing this while you feed your dog?My 10 weeks old malinous is very protective with the bons but not with the ball,he is a bit aggressive to my 10 years old son when he has his bon .Now my son gives him food,will that help or should I try something else?I will be very appreciated for your opinion.Thanks Anna from Poland;)
This desensitizes them to equipment or experiences that can be stressful to a puppy or dog. I do try and avoid giving advice without personally knowing the dog and owner. I’d recommend hiring a local professional and working with them extensively 🙏🏼

This helps prepare them for grooming and noisier/ chaotic environments. What can be stressors to unprepared dogs is turned into a positive experience 🙏🏼
