I know I could never own a B.M. I started my curiosity of them after watching the series THE SEAL TEAM. All dog trainers of the most beautiful, obedient, and #1 breed of all time for active duty, I applaud you to the fullest. You have brought so much joy into my life after losing my son to MURDER! Thank you & may God always protect you and the work that you do! MAHALO NUI LOA, my friends!🤙🌸🙏🤙🌸🙏🤙🌸🙏🤙🌸🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
I believe my rescue dog is a Belgain Malinois. He is the smartest dog I've ever met and knows 36 tricks at 7 months.. I only have had him for 3 months. I taught him to get me a beer out of the fridge in 1 day, my favorite trick....
Omg: I'd love to see a video of him getting you a beer from the frig! That's TOO funny... Technically, one more learned task like that, you can call him a "Service Dog"...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We just adopted a 7 year old recently neutered male. We have lots of work to do-but when feeding the horses-everything he does well (heel, sit, leave it) goes right out the window. The horses get reactive -which ramps up the dog. I will keep watching your channel and we will get this done. Who dumps their 7 year old intact male into the pound? He did not have much of a chance of coming out with many families. We are dedicated and he bonded with us that day-now-the work begins
wow that was impressive! i just met my first malinois at the training facility we're taking our GSD and i must say, there's something about the mals that just take your breath away.
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
A dog wagging his tail doesn't mean he's happy. He sure loves to work, as most malinois, but wagging your tail can mean many different things when you're a dog. It's mostly a way to handle emotions and temper them
Very impressive. thank you for sharing! This post is a great encouragement to cultivate the intellect of our dogs more. They love challenges and can tell if we are treating them with respect or are just being manipulative.
Enhorabuena!!
@@AndyKrueger off course: Thanks Andy for sharing this video. I have learned a lot in just those 3 minutes, I have a very trained 14 year old Rottweiler but not at your level. And now I also have a 5-month-old Mali. I will follow your steps. You re so big!! Congratulations!!! *....I keep watching your videos and applying your methods. Thanks for sharing. my mali is turning into a perfect dog
THIS is an EXCELLENT VIDEO if someone understands what they're actually looking at!! Like 6-8 basic concepts in 4 minutes, shown and done correctly! Another trainer would have taken 20-30 minutes to explain this, lol. I taught both whistle and "Come" recall. Our "pet recall" is FAST, perfect and ENTHUSIASTIC. I started recall in the house and yard, with me hiding, and tons of excited praise, treats when he finds me. I still do that now off leash: I'll put him into a place or in a down, walk 20-40 ft away and hide, and recall. He loves the game. Off leash, if I've put him on a release to pee, wander a short distance, and he gets distracted by prey or kitties or whatever and begins to bolt, if I say "Come" loudly, he immediately changes tack and sprints back. Even though it's enthusiastic and FAST, it IS a "sloppy" "pet recall". Do you think I could retrain our recall to go through my legs and end up in this position with a three year old German Shepherd? I'd like to try. I'd like to get him some very basic BH titles. I wish I'd known more when he was younger, but his "pet obedience" is actually perfect, having a novice owner, he's actually spectacular.
Thank you 🙏🏼 You could definitely retrain this! If it is one of the primary ways the dog receives food everyday, with the right training I believe he could learn this quickly! Go for that BH! 🙏🏼
@@AndyKrueger Thanks!! I DO treat with high value treats, and roughly subtract the amount from his dinner. I get discouraged because NO KIDDING--his "pet obedience" is PERFECT. But the first year we did dog parks and positive only nonsense. I SOCIALIZED the heck out of him (by a pro trainers standard). He is FEARLESS of surfaces, fireworks, wheelchairs, elevators, escalators, shopping carts, agility equipment, and much more. I just didn't know about sports level obedience. And our "bane"...bitework. I TOTALLY inhibited this guy's bite. Didn't allow tug at all. I was SO MISINFORMED. Extremely well bred GSD. His mother is a true "Service Dog". Mother from titled West German lines, father from titled East German lines. One sibling went straight to Police Academy. Two siblings went to Wounded Warriors. My MAIN regret is not encouraging bite work. Otherwise, he's rock solid. He's now VERY engaged with me. I made all training as much "fun, play" as I could to keep it interesting for him, get him engaged. He now gets corrections (mostly pretty gentle), and he's RELIABLE OFF LEASH in suburban areas. THIS is a BIG DEAL & accomplishment for us. I feel guilty that I didn't give him what I know now, watching people like you. Thanks for your encouragement. I think I will have to do luring to get him in correct recall position. He's very comfortable going between my legs (we've done that a million times as "play"). I just have to figure out how to get from point A to point B. Will have to start from drawing board, new signals, new command word AFTER luring into correct place enough, I think??? You are an awesome trainer, and so much fun to watch. My stinker IS exceptional, also. A celebrity at neighborhood stores and with neighborhood kids. We will be doing hospital therapy work once COVID is no longer a big issue. Super obedience, but it's "pet obedience" or "Service Dog" obedience, NOT competition obedience. Your recall between legs would clearly help us get BH titles. We'll be getting AKC GC and Community Citizen soon, THOSE will be a " piece of cake". I only hesitated because when younger, with dog parks & such, he became reactive. And Good Citizen involves being around a lot of strange dogs. "Community Citizen" is considered "level 2" after AKC GC, but he could have flown through that with flying colors a year or two ago. We're finally at the stage where I can walk him off leash around other dogs without worrying much; IF he pays too much attention, a quick "eh-eh" brings him back to my side. And if he's in a pet heel (not looking at my face but next to my thigh), he won't break position if he sees other dogs. Have a great weekend! Hopefully I'll have a good progress update to send you in a few weeks or month. I'm excited to get this going with him!😄❤🐾
@@AndyKrueger Today was exciting. My "pet" working line GSD has demonstrated good "down in motion" while heeling. I started putting him in "down" while on release "breaks" and during active recall in line of sight toward me, also with a good/fast response. Today, for the first time, I threw balls and commanded "down" while running AWAY from me, where he's motivated to get the ball, AND CAN'T SEE any hand/body signals. And he went into fast, perfect downs!!! While running away from me! I'm so delighted with my brilliant boy. He may not be ready for competition yet, but at three years old, he's still incredibly smart and willing to do new things! I feel like today was a special accomplishment. I also think German Shepherds are VERY GOOD at "generalizing" certain things. While I can't necessarily depend on him to successfully generalize certain behaviors or commands, I'm always SO THRILLED when he does. He hasn't won any "titles", but he's the BEST German Shepherd in the world as far as I'm concerned!!🐾❤😁❤🐾

Brilliant vids. Amazing dogs. I love that even the BMs are also just a bit slower to come back than they are to run off with or after a toy. Just not quite as much fun 😁 Lost my English staffie 2 weeks ago and he was 100mph to get the ball but about 40mph bringing it back, though he always bought it back.
THIS is so fucking cool, I love how you show the difference of what you do while teaching to the end result. Also that last part when took the bite toy thing (idk what it's called) if ur finger is in those loops they would have been goon, that was fast and perfect recall afterwards

Malinois are the best !!! I wish one day I'll my work schedule will allow me to get one ... I got a Beautiful Lion GSD .... but man .. i love the Malinois breed
Andy, if I may offer a tip for "luring treats"? Frozen peanut butter without salt or sugar (or additive free sunbutter or almond butter) in a clean, empty yogurt container works wonders, especially with a dog that either manages to get your chicken out of your hand despite holding it correctly, or loses interest when he realizes he can't get the entire piece of chicken easily.💖👍👍🐾
Hello, how do i fix my 5 month olds aggression toward people and dogs out on walks? he was kept in backyard till 4 months old, i rescued him a month ago. I need to socialize him to people and other dogs whitout him hurting anyone? Any advice is highly appreciated 😁
I’m sure this is obvious but finding a qualified professional, that makes a living training dogs, to work with weekly is crucial. This is not a do it yourself kind of dog. You need to create motivation and confidence through various training techniques and exercises. Having a professional assess and game plan in person will be the first step 🙏🏼
I have one who's cream (black ticking), with a black face and ears. She has traces of black on her legs and paws. She was listed as a German Shepherd/Husky mix at the rescue organisation we adopted her from.
Through the legs works if your dog is on the smaller side. I'm only an inch taller and my 24 inch dog fits nicely (getting her to do it is a whole different ballgame)
Love the video! I’m about to get an 8 week Mal in April anything I should be doing/buying now to get ready? Also what yellow toy is that, that you use for rewarding?
Absolutely stunning boys both of them your a lucky man not started training my boy really yet but he does a lot of things naturally with no training his protection of me is off the chart I've had him since 4 weeks old and we do everything together he is called kaos but I should have called him velcro love your videos and seeing how you train 😁👍
I have a puppy Malionis and she is six months old. Lots of play and loves her tug. Im trying to build her for personal protection. Any tips on what i should be doing? Thanks in advance
They look like they're very fun dogs! How are they in terms of trainability and managing their energy, generally speaking? I've heard they require a lot of exercise obviously and are very smart. I would imagine they would make great family dogs with appropriate training and exercise.
They need constant training and exercise, you need to have the time and devotion for them. They're not the type of dog you can put away in the kennel for hours. And they're not naturally good with kids and small animals, you need to work with them to get used to kids and other animals. Also needs lots of socialization and attention.
Hey great video. Where do you get a dog like this? I’ve been doing research but I’m new to the breed and have really no idea what I’m looking for regarding temperament and dog traits to be looking for
Hi. I am trying to learn more about the breed. I have the opportunity if getting a 6 month male pup. I am used to breeds with high defensive drive as apposed to the prey drive of mals. My question ( and hesitation), will this pup ( mals in general) get along with other dogs? I have a 2 year old male yorkie and I don't need nothing hurting him. Also, will the mal be able to coexist in a pack with 2 larger shepherd breeds? Thank you.
Of course every dog is different, and it’s impossible to say for sure without knowing all dogs involved, but for the most part I find they get along well with other dogs.
i have a belgian malinois female 11 weeks old she bites me whenever we play is that have to do with dog genetics or is it a bad behaviour and i have to work on it.
Nice Vid. I always wonder how do you bond with your dog so he pays more attention to you. I have a gsd that is so stubborn during the day and night and so lazy during midday? WE've only had him for 2months and he's now 1year
These dogs are sooo devoted, extraordinary and aware. It's a joy to see them in an open space and to have an owner with similar energy!
Thank you very much! 🙏🏼
@Brandon Kirk Sorry I don’t.

Love the video! I’m about to get an 8 week Mal in April anything I should be doing/buying now to get ready? Also what yellow toy is that, that you use for rewarding?
Everything is about the CRATE. Real crate training should be your NUMBER 1 priority 🙌🏻
That Boy looks perfect incredible hiw many kg was he in this video ?
Sorry! I don’t remember
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Love this Andy, I must work on the duration, she gets into position , waits for reward then , walks off.🤨
You can use a leash to block and physically prevent the dog from leaving. Also making reward frequency less predictable 👍🏻
@@AndyKrueger thanks Andy , I’ll try it 👍
Amazing
I have a puppy Malionis and she is six months old. Lots of play and loves her tug. Im trying to build her for personal protection. Any tips on what i should be doing? Thanks in advance
I typically don’t touch any personal protection training until 12-18 months old
Love the video👍
Thank you 🙌🏻
Best dogs on 🌎!

Awesome! 👍👍👍
👍🏻
They look like they're very fun dogs! How are they in terms of trainability and managing their energy, generally speaking? I've heard they require a lot of exercise obviously and are very smart. I would imagine they would make great family dogs with appropriate training and exercise.
They need constant training and exercise, you need to have the time and devotion for them. They're not the type of dog you can put away in the kennel for hours. And they're not naturally good with kids and small animals, you need to work with them to get used to kids and other animals. Also needs lots of socialization and attention.

What is the height and weight of a 6 years old BM? Hes nice and the pup
Thank you 🙏🏼
My 6 yr old is about 55lbs. Not sure how tall he is
Hey great video.
Where do you get a dog like this?
I’ve been doing research but I’m new to the breed and have really no idea what I’m looking for regarding temperament and dog traits to be looking for
Any advice?
If you don’t know what to look for, I wouldn’t recommend getting one.
I like the “dirtiness”! The dog seems alive, not a 🤖
Thank you 🙏🏼
I hope my mal can get like that😆 I just bought alot of stuff next is the raw diet !
Hi.
I am trying to learn more about the breed.
I have the opportunity if getting a 6 month
male pup.
Good video 👍
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow!!! love dogs
Same!
I know this is an old video, but do you reccomend training in French, or German? I want to use French, however i'm not sure what to pick.
i have a belgian malinois female 11 weeks old she bites me whenever we play is that have to do with dog genetics or is it a bad behaviour and i have to work on it.
That is genetics
So awesome
May i know how many inches your belgian from foot to shoulder
I’m actually not sure. Probably a few feet
Brilliant
beautiful dog
Nice video love you bro ❤️
Thank you
Nice Vid. I always wonder how do you bond with your dog so he pays more attention to you. I have a gsd that is so stubborn during the day and night and so lazy during midday? WE've only had him for 2months and he's now 1year
I do all hand feeding for their meals and make sure the pup/ dog is hungry and ready to eat 👍🏻
Super 👍
