I love how they try to add dramatic weight to the wizard saying "I cannot help you", when that's just what he says when he's already given you his spell.
Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link (NES Nintendo Power System) Link is that a great 👍🏼 day you find Crystal and your sword and shield 🛡 people will always become heroes of this world domination game series destiny new adventure fantasy just then the rescue the princess Zelda.
Zelda! Zelda! ZEEEELDAAAAAAAA!!!
All LOZ games should have Link constantly yelling like this.
+Nahte27 SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE
Let's just say "The marketing department of Nintendo is not in agreement with the Game Development departments" LOL
TEKTITES! LEEEEEEVERS
Well excuuuuuuuuuse ME, Nahye27
SHAAAAAUUUN
“I cannot help you” BECAUSE...I already gave you the damn spell! 😂
"Well excuuuuuuse ME, Princess!"
Link: Zeldaaa....
Link: Zeldaaaaaaa.....
Link: Zelda, Zeldaaaaaa...
Zelda: WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT!!!!!!!!!
Feels silly now but this legit scared the shit out of me as a kid
This gives me hope for a Legend of Zelda live movie.
too much for hollywood to handle
@@user-qm7bp4ul5t Was I sarcastic? Hm...
I'm visiting this knowing there will be a live movie!!! Nice prediction! haha
@@richardmahn7589 Hm?
@@Ragitsu There is a live movie of Zelda in the works.
good times, brings back a lot of memories
Yeah, that's right. This ad is the same as the one screened in Australia (where Mattel distributed the NES and games), so it's possible even the ad is an Australian one. The game boxes/carts at the end have Mattel logos on them too.
It didn't deserve to be branded as the black sheep of the Zelda series just because it was radically different from the first game
I never knew that. I had a blast playing this in high school! I’d love to play it again too!
0:11 - I like how out of context that line can be ...
@sinning1966 I hate to discredit you but there were no passwords used in Zelda II to save a game, it was on battery backup. Also the candle was found in the very first palace, not late in the game. Don't mean to insult you but those statements were incorrect.
I remember this commercial growing up.
I cannot help you!
LOL!
And hes banging on the TV screen! LOL
@macibax
you're right Link does look like conan but if you notice at the end of the commercial they showed Iron Sword box art and he also looks alot like Link too. XD
Obviously one of those commercials where nobody actually PLAYED the game, because you already HAVE the Crystals and Zelda's right there, just taking a magical nap, no "barrier" or anything. XD
(And why make Link sound like a middle school stereotypical computer nerd?)
For 30 years I thought there was a barrier because of this commercial. I finally played through it as an adult on Switch and actually read the into.
@@alaricmax2182 I just beat it too recently on the NES Mini....one of the hardest games i ever played...but i actually enjoyed it more than the original
This ad definitely screened in Australia which also had Mattel distribution in the NES days. No idea about Europe, it's possible it showed there too - maybe if you could make out the TMNT/TMHT cart at the end that'd tell you.
"i cannot help you"
I remember this. I didn't remember the add being for the second game in the Zelda series, but I do recall "Use your sword" and "I cannot help you" and have been wondering for a few months where I had heard that long ago.
yeah, that comercial is great, Zelda 2 was the first Zelda game I ever played I found it hard as a kid but it was and still is an amazing game, dispite all the negative response it gets. It's the first game I know of that has a new game plus feature before that existed. If you beat the game you can start again with all your attack magic and life power levels the same as they were at the end, which is most commonly the max of 8
Love how live action Link in this commercial looks like Joey Tempest from the band Europe
That... Was actually a pretty cool advert :P
mattel built and distributed the nes in most countries outside japan...
they already had market power with toys in most retailers
@Melkac "and it was the first console with 128 bit graphics..."
I'm pretty sure you said that
@GialloHorror More like a matter of facts. Almost every single game on the dreamcast was awesome and original, it was the first console with internet (128 kbps...), it invented the VMU, oh, and it was the first console with 128 bit graphics...
The NES...it was like a better Atari console.
@Glitcher2000
What's wrong with "I am Error."? That's correct English. He's telling you his name. Like, "I am DudeSean85."
It is funny that they highlighted the "I cannot help you", though.
Yeah, I vaguely recall seeing it as a child too. Weird how that stuff works.
please someone tell me what is the music from the background, Thanks!
I -=vaguely=- remember this commercial. Thanks for posting it so I know that it actually did exist and is not just a product of my diseased mind.
I dont know who that actor is... but he makes a remarkably good Link! The voice doesn't fit him at all though.
@Glitcher2000
That was the guys name and spoiler alert, it's because he's significant to progress the game.
The return of glitch creppy link
I got an NES in the early 90s when I probably should have got a SNES that just came out. Anyways I chosed Zelda II over the original Zelda manly because of the graphics. Top down gameplay view to me then just looked to plan dated. Zelda II utilized what was then popular 2D side scrolling.
and they added sound effects and narrated in game text, sorry two post comment but I just wanted to get that in too. oh and is that Metell (or however the hell you spell it) logo in the bottom right corner? Did they market then NES back then? and the sword he's holding looks a bit like what would be the future master sword.
Doh I loved this game, even though it kinda strayed away from what i expect of a Zelda game it was still fun.
ooouuuuuuuuccccchhhhhh oh god this is so oucch
SWEET AD
Super Mario Brothers 3 was exactly like Super Mario Brothers.
What we got here in wester world wich would later be labeled as Super Mario USA in Japan was so popular that later incorprated elements and characters to the mushroom kingdom franchise but at any point of Doki Doki Panic's production was it stated that the game would be turned into Super Mario Brothers 2 in USA.
Was the second game mentioned, after Ghostbusters II Demonsword?
I fucking loved that game.
Much better than the first Zelda commercial.
Apparently, the user BakuTex is Spainard. In spanish-speaking countries back in the days cartridges would be called Cassettes. this lasted up until the GBA era! when it ended once the DS started to use those "Game cards" cartridges.
I love how funny old video game commercials are
"BEWARE!"
LOL...this "Link" sucks!! Funny commercial, though. I just recently started playing this game again. I never liked it as a kid, couldn't figure it out. I gave it another shot out of boredom. It's pretty effing hard, but it's fun too. Glad I tried it again.
Ironsword hahaha I still have that game my sister and I used to play it as kids. That game is ridiculous!! I beat it once, but it's so irritating!!
I remember this add too, I thought it was cool back in the day and it still is now. I remeber when I was a kid my dad would play it and my little brother was like "I'll be the guy who yells Zelda!"
The guy saying defeat your enemies sounds alot like Ganon from the cartoon series, my vote is it's the same guy. That was when they actually tried to make the games look cool without blowing your mind with graphics, that's all game commercials are now.
The NES went though a weird phase with with sequels which imo they seemed to have messed them up while trying to do something different. Zelda 2, Castlevania 2 and Super Mario 2. Ive gotten into Mario 2 cause its a Mario game but the other ones I'll never care for.
This is the only time we actually get to hear Link talk.
I remember that commercial...crazy
"I cannot help you" "Now get tha fuck outta ma face!"
They should've replaced "I cannot help you" with "I am Error". They would've sold a lot more copies imo. LOL
The Link in this game can turn into a fairy (opposed to a badass wolf or fierce deity), so the voice is quite fitting.
What the hell is he doing at 0:16? Made me LOL.
commercials back then had so much more class
This was awesome, seriously. Would've amped me up if I was still I kid.
And great game too.
@GeoVII Hm, I grew up in the '90s era, which is know as one of the best era of videogames...I don't need to appreciate the older games more, unless we're talking about megaman, simply because the newer versions improved them in every single way.
Oh, by the way, aside from my gripe about their Link, this is actually a LOT better than the equivalent commercial for the first Zelda (some dude dressed in beatnik black shouting "Zeldaaaa~") and was actually pretty good for its time.
I mean, hey, Link's actually wearing the correct colors, and they have actual sets. Negative points for not having a dude in a rubber Moblin suit, though.
"Now you're playing with Power" Brings back memories.
I love it
Link looks AWESOME in this commercial! :D
I remember this commercial. *sigh* The old NES days.
best zelda game ever :)
the greatest game in the world!!
No doubt about that
Whenever I see that shot of the Nintendo with the games above it I half expect the announcer to say,"Part of this complete breakfast."
@GialloHorror WRONG!! The Dreamcast is, and pretty much every single Nintendo console surpases NES, sorry for bursting your bubble.
ZELDA!! ZELDA!!!!! ZELDA!!!!!!!!!
Oh god, that's priceless!
"Now you're playing with POWERRRRRR" XD
@randomperson4all
yeah! like "i gotta go get my stuff" and "exxcuuuuusssse me princess!"
At 0.06,it sounds like Slimer from Ghostbusters roaring.
might as well be yelling, "mommy!"
I love this game so much, a lot more than the original
Zelda = greatest series of all time
I remember loving this ad, and the cover for Nintendo Power Issue 4, far more than the game itself 😂
Those magazines certainly fired up the imagination.
@@Ragitsu Oh man, the Final Fantasy spread, that listed all the weapons and spells you could buy at every shop? Blew my freaking mind.
@@TheFiddleFaddle There was such an ad for the first _Final Fantasy_ ?
@@Ragitsu Oh yeah, Vol 17. Had a picture on the cover of a bunch of warriors on an airship. Can trace the start of my love of the franchise directly to that pic.
@@TheFiddleFaddle *sigh* I wish I collected those magazines; you can't replace the zeitgeist of those times (i.e., the mid-1980s throughout the 1990s)
LOL... "Cassette," that's funny because my mother would always refer to them as "Nintendo Tapes."
Huh... I think I remember this! It's been forever, though.
I feel kind of old, now. :?
@SlightyDisturbedNBK What? You're just saying that to make us old people cranky. This commercial is cool - action, adventure, fighting giant monsters, hero on a quest, rescuing the princess, yadda yadda. Zelda 2 was a BIG DEAL at the time. There were cartridge shortages all year long because of Zelda 2 and Super Mario 2.
early nintendo was just gold. with all their crazy marketing.
I thought this commercial was so spooky as a kid. I must have been seven when I saw it. This was before I played any Nintendo. Little did I know how addicted to this franchise I would get.
Zelda 1 has some flaws that were fixed in later zelda games, like the fact that the game did not give you any hints on where to go next, so finding the 7th & 8th dungeons were a pain. Sections like these really ruined the later part of the game.
Ahh, the '80s - when commercials were so bad, they were rad. :D
0:16 LOL, some stoned hippie wacking a 360" TV screen.
why is Fabio on the cover of Wizards & Warriors II ?
:21 Fabio! Still odd that he posed for a game cover...
A FAR better Zelda ad than the one for Zelda 1 (black leotard guy).
They sure did a random job, and the US is like You are on your own!
Link got crushed by this own game...
True, heh. Truth to be told, that design was pretty awesome.
That's right, Link. If you yell loud enough, maybe she'll wake up!
link looks like conan the barbarian
@GeoVII I agree, but I do love music from my parents era. I hate today's music lol
Where is the origin of the music?
Now you're playing with Power!
I CANNOT HELP YOU.
I see, makes perfect sense to me.
and the comercial says to find the crystls rescue the pincess. You've already got the crystls, and zelda isn't prisnor this time. Those are just some minor pointless things that don't matter, the way they said it made the game seem cooler to me back in the day of course I only about 5 at the time.
@Glitcher2000
Heh, I forever remembered the "I cannot help you" speech from the ad, while it didn't occur in the game. It's kindofa ripoff ;) But fun to watch and hear it again. Now I know I wasn't out of my mind :P
Isn't it ironic that this is the last game in the timeline? It's also kinda extrange that its time line it's the largest...
@GialloHorror Eh, ok, I didn't only said "the dreamcast had better graphics", I said all the new stuff the dreamcast had compared to the NES, so your argument is obviously invalid.
@Dekulink333 I'll answer this question. Why would a man who's shirt says "Genius at Work" spend all of his time watching a children's cartoon show?
i have it on gamecube XXD
NES GREATEST VIDEO GAME CONSOLE EVER! Fuck the XBox and PS3, give me an NES anyday!
Yeah I think he was hitting the background as if it were behind glass and was trying to break it. I THINK:/
0:16 link was banging zelda...."LITERALLY" o.o
No
I CANNOT HELP YOU
lolololololol
