I’m still playing my launch day 2017 Switch, and it’s my most used console! Handheld and so many retro Nintendo games to play anywhere, anytime away from the restrictions of a TV screen. The console may be underpowered compared to Xbox and PlayStation, but the quality of games are far superior!! Nintendo first party games are a work of art. They rarely require post launch patches. They’re complete from Day 1. They rarely use loot boxes and DLC. You buy the game cartridge and you get the full experience. They retain their value. Breath of the Wild is still £30-40 whereas most Xbox games are £10 a few months after launch. People still buy and value 30+ year old Nintendo games because they’re are great value and legendary! That’s why you should buy a Switch in 2024.
Been a gamer for most my life, game boy > DS > Xbox 360 > Xbox one > gaming pc > even better gaming laptop. But now I’ve got the sudden urge to buy myself a Nintendo switch, idk wants brought it on, maybe because I’ve just graduated and now I’m at home excited for the winter nights in bed and can imagine myself playing Pokemon or Zelda while tucked up in bed, hmmmm, decisions…
Go for it 🤗 i also play ps5, pc but 2 months ago i bought my first switch ever ( totk edition 😊 ) with Zelda breath of the wild and Super Mario Oddesy.......and im having a blast, im so glad i decided to buy a switch. Believe me you wont regret it if you going for a switch
Love my Switch OLED it got me back into gaming after nearly fifteen years away from it. I’m 50 now but still enjoy playing Zelda and replaying Metroid Prime and Portal games. Still looks great and the portability of it is excellent. I’m sure it still will be popular for many years to come. Hopefully the next console will just improve on this already great design.
Exactly, on top of having the improved battery, OLED screens are more energy efficient. Making it objectively the best switch in terms of battery life.
I have both and use the Lite primarly. OLED is only in docked mode to play with my son some Mario (yep I bought OLED at the first place but it wasn't so good on the go so I tried with Lite and can't get over it). :D
I have the newer version of the older switch for 2 years, some buttons don't work and the screen doesn't work, soo i can only play on the TV, overall it's not bad
New switch member here, got the oled with a nice bundle at a pawn shop like a week ago and Imho Zelda is a beautiful game to play on the switch. I am currently on a RUclips rabbit hole of finding more games to play.
I’ve had my Switch Lite for over 4 years, and despite the Switch 2 ultimately being revealed at some point next year, I still might consider upgrading to an OLED just as to be assured of what I was missing.
I got an OLED Switch at launch. The screen is amazing and in addition to having amazing-looking games it's actually really great to watch shows on it on Hulu or other streamining services supported by Nintendo. I decided to get a Switch Lite a few months ago (blurple color which reminds me of the GameCube and GameBoy Advance) and the portability of it is incredible. Really easy to throw in my bag and take it wherever I go. I use the Switch OLED primarily as my living room console.
'stay away from the lite" - the lite is perfect for so many people. You don't do it justice. "The original you could only use cartridges due to the storage" - SD cards work for all models
I am loving my Nintendo Switch Oled I don't plan to get the Switch 2 at launch maybe 3 years into the Switch 2 life cycle when the system has enough games then I'll get one but for the time being I am going to stick with my Switch Oled
This is a great overview on the Nintendo switch. I had mine for about a year and a couple months now and I have no regrets. It’s just that the games are highly overpriced on average at $60. I feel like they should be lower. Some games are even higher. It’s crazy.
I've had the Switch for a few years now (non-OLED). It has sat for the past few years but this summer I've picked it back up. Honestly, I'm amazed at the library of games and how will all 3 of the Nintendo Switch consoles handle today's games. It's a great price and offers a ton of portability. I love my PS5 but also admit I'd really enjoy a Sony handheld.
My partner bought me a OLED switch back in February for my birthday and I love it, I'm addicted to star drew valley and waiting for the 1.6 update in November
I've been trying to figure out what to get my daughters for Christmas it was was either Xbox series or the Switch and you have made it a bit easier thanks man
Just bought a switch OLED a couple weeks ago. Been tearing it up on Super Mario Bros 3 mainly because never played more than one or 2 levels on it back in the day. Even just for all of the old Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanaced, and Nintendo 64 games I'd recommend getting this switch. I was playing a Wii U for the last 8 years and this is such a massive improvement. And I haven't gotten to play proper switch games like Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild or Pokemon Sapphire. Stoked for the months, and most likely years ahead with my Switch OLED. Switch 2.....probably see you in like 6 years😆.
I own a Switch Oled, Steam Deck, and PS4. All great consoles, probably with the Steam Deck being my favorite. Switch Oled is great, too, especially if you really enjoy playing handheld, even if it is a bit underpowered. That library of games, both exclusives and third party titles is enormous, and in real world usage, it's hard to tell the difference... most of the time... that it's less powerful than so many other consoles that are currently out.
the hardware improvements are different from the original to the oled and with oled having better pixel quality they were able to improve graphics. The battery also lasts a couple hours longer on oled
iv had my switch oled now for a while the best thing about it is the nice big oled screen the blacks and the colours just look so good and the tv docking mode is handy to have one game that amazed my mind how good it ran wich is a must buy for the oled is rdr1 being able to play red dead on the go is pretty cool
The issues I had with the Lite was no rumble, the screen was noticeable worth, but the deal breaker was the sticks were always bad, and only got worse. It is a pain to replace the sticks on the Lite. Also the battery life is actually worse than the OLED.
I bought the original before the OLED was announced. But here's how I would determine which to buy using their different modes: TV? Original. Handheld? Lite. Tabletop? OLED.
I have a switch OLED and I love playing handheld mode and tabletop mode. And yes I use my custom shelled Joycons and a 8bitdo pro 2 for tabletop mode. The OLED isn’t heavy imo
I also have a Nintendo Switch OLED, and i have great experience using the switch primarily as a hand - held console and the dock version to! It is very fun to play with your friends especially, and the OLED screen is goood. If you want to buy a mid range console, BUY the Nintendo Switch OLED!
I guess I’m a retro gamer. Spend a ridiculous amount on my 3DS collection, and I love it but thinking about getting a switch. Your video really helped me make a final decision. I will wait for a newer one though, but I am sold now. I’m just really hesitant about digital games and monthly subscriptions. I would prefer physical games, but willing to give the switch a try.
The way I see it, Nintendo is a games company. Playstation and Xbox are the product of two big tech companies that wanted to get a piece of the gaming market.
I just ordered me a Nintendo switch oled yesterday now im waiting til it get delivered, i have a Nintendo switch lite also but i hardly play it, i want to the one with the joy sticks with a wide screen, always wanted try it out
I just bought OLED last month. Really want a handheld since were all grown man now have work and a part time work, wife and kids. PS5 or xbox well no time to play anymore. NSwitch really is handy at times. I barely touch my gaming laptop.
Let's face it, most people are buying thr V1 Switch because it's easier to mod. When i got my Steam Deck Olded a few months ago, i thought my Switch would be collecting dust but i'm back on the Switch. The Nintendo first party games just have a certain charm to them.
It’s also the best value for a handheld device. Nintendo first party and the robust indie library gives plenty of value to any gamer. You don’t need a Steam Deck to run Stardew or Factorio.
I’ve replaced my kids switch lite joy sticks and batteries several times. Honestly not that difficult. I did break one of the cases because they are so cheap bought u replaced that too and now they all look super cool. My favorite is the atomic purple.
The best thing i decided to buy was this Nintendo Switch Oled. I feel so great to play Zelda BOTW and TOTK on it. The color, the experience is something once in a life.
Bought mine couple of months ago in eBay (after owning a v1 for years), WiFi was damaged and due to that paid 130 bucks. For me it’s perfect since the dock has Ethernet, and I never play online with Switch!
I got the switch oled last year and i am so happy with it ❤ even then i got the "should have waited for the new switch" remarks, but I dont regret it one bit ✨
@ I didn’t wait for the Switch 2 because 1) we didn’t know when it was coming out when I bought my Switch - now there are rumours that it could be coming out by March, but idk. I didn’t want to have to wait months or maybe years 2) I wanted to get more into gaming as a hobby, and the Switch seemed like a good option for me and 3) it’s not like Nintendo is going to immediately stop supporting the Switch when the Switch 2 comes out. They’re still making new games for it - I just bought the new My Sims Cozy Bundle, for instance, which is an absolute delight. I think the Switch will still be worth having even when the Switch 2 comes out.
@@fantasticbeck3938 hmm I understand. Thanks for answering. I just want to play pokemon and some multi-player games like overcooked. But I really don't want to wait for the next gen. I am afraid that some games would be switch 2 exclusive, and I will miss out on those when it gets released
@@soumyaa4230 Yeah, that unfortunately is a possibility. I guess it depends on what games you want to play and whether it’s likely they’ll be ported to/compatible with the Switch 2.
I got the Zelda version the day it came out and I was hesitant as I thought the new gen would come out soon, let me tell you, I'm so glad I got it, it's the perfect console for a quick fix after work or when visit comes over. Played thought all the Zelda games at my own pace, got Mario wonder, Hogwarts legacy, No man's sky and even Stardew Valley, I see myself still playing this console for years to come. It's a no brainer
Switch is affordable nowdays, the switch 2 will be able to buy and play new and old games. So do it if don't allready have a gaming system or systems yet, with nowadays everyone has VR or something else, handhelds, cloud, big console, or some type of upgraded pc, with streaming people can get away with just a controller 😊 I have grown to love the switch for personal play and mobility.
Got my first switch for free from Verizon. Sure it’s the original model but not gonna lie I’m loving it. I’m a hater and the switch did not appeal to me at all. But now that I have it, I completely get it.
Welcome haha. On paper, I get why PC and xbox (which inhave too) crap on it. But the experience is just great. Not only are smash, mario kart, zelda and more just awesome games, the handheld experience is fun
I do not even have an OLED switch but I am planning to keep my all the way until the Switch 2 goes on sale. A great library of games plus cheap games I can get through Facebook Marketplace places a solid buy. Especially as a dad, I never use my PS5 because I do not want to use the TV so my wife and kid can watch their shows
I have the Zelda OLED and oh my god, I put in like atleast 2 hours a day on it, not a single issue, note I don’t use the Zelda Joycons because I don’t want them to get stick drift so I use my pro controller instead.
Great point! I love youtube on the gcloud with a kickstand. I like it on the switch, but it takes to long to jump from youtube to back into a game on the switch. I like it holding my place in game.
Amazing video, totally agree with all. Buying an Oled has been one of the best decisions I ever made (even having ps4, XboxOne, N3DS, PC,NDS,ps2,etc). It's perfect
If you buy and oled does putting a screen protector on it ruin the picture? As in making the upgrade from the original pointless, or will it still look better?
Personally the form factor, the size of the lite and the ease of traveling with it on the train, is much preferred than upgrading to the OLED. I play 95% handheld for Switch games but I also have my launch switch and an OLED tv so I dont feel like I'm really missing out. But if someone new wants just one switch I completely understand getting just the OLED.
got mine (oled) for my kid last dec. bought a switch type hdmi cord since we travel to my parents house every weekend and carrying the dock was a pain in our bag. also my uncle also got my cousin the oled yesterday. my uncle already has the ps4, i have the xb1x. so yes you could still buy the switch since its portable and mario games are just fun especially for the kids.
The biggest reason people buy a switch anyways is for the convenience, ease of use, portable, and last but not least the exclusive titles. Almost everyone I know buys them for fun party games( Mario party, mk8, smash bros etc) and games such as tears of the kingdom, echoes of wisdom, Luigi’s mansion, Metroid, a lot of jrpgs, of course if you want to play elden ring don’t buy a switch but that’s not the audience Nintendo are trying to cater to anyways. It’s a great first console for children, great for parties and adults as well, best console for any retro style gamer.
The opening of the cardslot is as much as impossible with the OLED if you have short nails. I can't open it without a tool, which possibly damages it.(I have the TOTK edition). The first Switches had a easy to open cardslot. I don't understand why they changed this and it seems to me it's done deliberatly so you buy more in the e-shop. There was no need they changed this.
This is such a nice video to look into the mind of a casual gamer… You emphasized on the portability, 3rd party, RUclips, NSO and glossed over the real meaty 1st party library…. Saying if you just want a console to play on your TV just get a ps5 is CRAZY LMAO… thanks for the video it was an interesting watch into the mind of a casual gamer
Switch lite is a great way to play the switch. Yes you can still replace the sticks it’s just a bigger pain disassembling, and there’s an OLED screen replacement mod in the works for the Switch lite. The only problem is not being able to dock the switch lite
Ive been using my oled for 6 months now and i dont really check nintendo eshop because theres alot of good games that are right up my ally from 3rd partyports to first party games. Some indie games too, i remember trying not to buy windbound but nah i really like the premise of the game so i bought and now no mans sky is calling upon me. I can play all day with this, play couch coop with people who have no idea what video game is, and finally ill be able to play all zelda games that has and will be releasing on switch this is heaven.
Just got a switch today and played Legend of Zelda:Breath of the wild for 5 hours… wow.
How is it. I want to get the OLED for my birthday in 2 weeks and im looking at getting zelda is it a good game and worth buying?

I just bought OLED last month. Really want a handheld since were all grown man now have work and a part time work, wife and kids. PS5 or xbox well no time to play anymore. NSwitch really is handy at times. I barely touch my gaming laptop.
We’re in the best era of Nintendo since the heyday of the wii
Let's face it, most people are buying thr V1 Switch because it's easier to mod. When i got my Steam Deck Olded a few months ago, i thought my Switch would be collecting dust but i'm back on the Switch. The Nintendo first party games just have a certain charm to them.
It’s also the best value for a handheld device. Nintendo first party and the robust indie library gives plenty of value to any gamer. You don’t need a Steam Deck to run Stardew or Factorio.
Quality is so good for a smaller channel and I love the switch to this day.
Very helpful and brilliant review. Loved your vibe dude so chill.
i want one but man the oled still being at 350 when i know the switch 2 is around the corner is making it tough
I’ve replaced my kids switch lite joy sticks and batteries several times. Honestly not that difficult. I did break one of the cases because they are so cheap bought u replaced that too and now they all look super cool. My favorite is the atomic purple.
Nintendo made sure that full immersion would bring FUN to their consumers.
Just picked up a used one mostly to play n64 games online but im finding lots of titles i want to revisit like skyrim to name one
Yeh i love the retro games
thanks a million for the video, I was looking for information on wether to get the oled or the standard version
Such a quality content, so weird that you have only 2k subs
Just bought one a few weeks ago after thinking about it for months and I love it!
i am thinking of buying one too. quick question: why didnt you wait for switch 2? i am torn between waiting and buying it rn
Will buy a used one for 120€, very cheap and it is completely functional!💪
I got the Zelda version the day it came out and I was hesitant as I thought the new gen would come out soon, let me tell you, I'm so glad I got it, it's the perfect console for a quick fix after work or when visit comes over. Played thought all the Zelda games at my own pace, got Mario wonder, Hogwarts legacy, No man's sky and even Stardew Valley, I see myself still playing this console for years to come. It's a no brainer
I have the OG Switch no OLED and I really want to upgrade but I don’t want to buy the OLED if the Switch OLED2 is coming soon.
I mean the system is still a classic no matter if Switch 2 comes out or not
You mean the Switch 2 Not Switch Oled 2
Great video!
I just bought a preowned OLED today from GameStop and so far, I’ve had no problems with it. 😊
good video, keep it up man
dont listen to the haters ur eyes are just fine ❤
Got my first switch for free from Verizon. Sure it’s the original model but not gonna lie I’m loving it. I’m a hater and the switch did not appeal to me at all. But now that I have it, I completely get it.
how did you get it for free??
Welcome haha. On paper, I get why PC and xbox (which inhave too) crap on it.
But the experience is just great. Not only are smash, mario kart, zelda and more just awesome games, the handheld experience is fun
@@kidrobot. it was a promotion for getting internet service and staying on it for three months
Great Video, never had stick drift on any of my lites. If you play mostly handheld go for the lite, much more comfortable and lightweight.
I have an OG Xbox One, Ps4/5, and a switch. I travel quite a bit so my OLED switch is perfect when I'm not at home :)
Great point! I love youtube on the gcloud with a kickstand. I like it on the switch, but it takes to long to jump from youtube to back into a game on the switch. I like it holding my place in game.
okay this sounds stupid but... i just want a switch pro lite. i dont want it to feel cheap i just want it to be small and portable.
No unless you put a matte screen protector on, generally a normal screen protector will make little to no difference
Cheers mate, great review!
Great review and video!
great vid m8 💯
got mine (oled) for my kid last dec. bought a switch type hdmi cord since we travel to my parents house every weekend and carrying the dock was a pain in our bag. also my uncle also got my cousin the oled yesterday. my uncle already has the ps4, i have the xb1x. so yes you could still buy the switch since its portable and mario games are just fun especially for the kids.
Switch reviews are so great I have to grab it at Costco, even though switch 2 is coming out
Just got an OLED switch had to get it bc it’s my favorite console ever
The biggest reason people buy a switch anyways is for the convenience, ease of use, portable, and last but not least the exclusive titles. Almost everyone I know buys them for fun party games( Mario party, mk8, smash bros etc) and games such as tears of the kingdom, echoes of wisdom, Luigi’s mansion, Metroid, a lot of jrpgs, of course if you want to play elden ring don’t buy a switch but that’s not the audience Nintendo are trying to cater to anyways. It’s a great first console for children, great for parties and adults as well, best console for any retro style gamer.
Great review m8.good job.love my oled
The opening of the cardslot is as much as impossible with the OLED if you have short nails. I can't open it without a tool, which possibly damages it.(I have the TOTK edition).
The first Switches had a easy to open cardslot. I don't understand why they changed this and it seems to me it's done deliberatly so you buy more in the e-shop. There was no need they changed this.
This is such a nice video to look into the mind of a casual gamer…
You emphasized on the portability, 3rd party, RUclips, NSO and glossed over the real meaty 1st party library….
Saying if you just want a console to play on your TV just get a ps5 is CRAZY LMAO…
thanks for the video it was an interesting watch into the mind of a casual gamer
im thnking about buying one this week! great video :)
Switch lite is a great way to play the switch. Yes you can still replace the sticks it’s just a bigger pain disassembling, and there’s an OLED screen replacement mod in the works for the Switch lite. The only problem is not being able to dock the switch lite
If it got a price cut I’d upgrade. Just for the better screen. The OG one is basically impossible to see outside.
You seem like a great guy. God bless you!
hey man love the videos keep up the good work !
Any rumours about OLED switch 2 supporting Netflix and hulu? 😢 would really appreciate much
Wish it would support other streaming services like Max as well
Ive been using my oled for 6 months now and i dont really check nintendo eshop because theres alot of good games that are right up my ally from 3rd partyports to first party games.
The stock joy-cons are terribly uncomfortable however. Would need an attachment to make it physically comfortable for handheld use
