First up, The Cinema Snob looks at the horror/comedy Skullduggery, all centered around a man who is possessed from an evil Dungeons and Dragons Type game.
Then we get into Shot on Video territory with Sledgehammer, one of the earlier entries in the SOV genre.

Suggestion
Have you and everyone at Channel Awesome do a Dungeons and Dragons session.
it would be epic, and also quite fitting considering this year weve had the new Dungeons and Dragons movie and the release of Baldur's Gate III both of which have been highly praised.
its basically the year of Dungeons and Dragons, so its perfect for you to cash in on it.
I must admit after you and some others talk about ramrod I finally watched vice squad, I was not disappointed
Tell spoony to come back. We miss him and that was a mean tease
That Spoony cameo was like a jump scare
Great continuity!
I hope Spoony is doing better. I know he has his own personal things and I hope he is doing better. Nice to see him again after so many years.
Spoony's Skullduggery review is still one of my all time favorite videos.
Seeing the title definitely took me back to the Spoony days
That's good I am glad some people can remember the better things of people than the bad.
"I wanna play the WARLOCK!"
Here I was thinking "I wonder if Brad will refrence Spoony's Skullduggery review", but I did not expect that cameo. Brought a huge smile to my face, felt like good old times. I'm very happy the two of them are still friends, and I hope they'll do more stuff together. Just a vlog of them talking about movies like they did about Rocky way back when would be awesome.
I hope Spoony's doing better now--even if he isn't truly back and was just making the one cameo for fun, I'll be so happy to know he's in better health and state of mind now. ;u;
@@ElFreakinCid Well his Patreon is still going, but I don't know if he's posting anything to that or not.
A podcast was really a missed opportunity.
A Brad/Noah podcast would of been epic some of my favorite videos are just the two of them talking about movies
@@ElFreakinCid He's streaming on RUclips with Curtis.
I'm loving that Snob has gone back to a full intro theme song. Gives me those toasty Greatest American Hero vibes!
Who did the current theme song for his show?
@@louisduarte8763
No idea, sounds like an 80s jingle he ripped.
❤
Not sure what “Greatest American Hero” is, but I’m quite familiar with plain American Hero…and now I want Snob to review that. An FMV game, sure, but if he was willing to review Night Trap (or at least a recording of the FMV parts) years back, I can see him tackling American Hero as a movie.
@@isenokami7810 Greatest Amrican Hero was superhero comedy/drama series from the early 80's. Snob used to use its theme song "Believe It or Not" as his opening
Holy shit, that ending! I havent seen Spoony in ages (not counting rewatching his old videos, which are still classic).
Your comment made me fast-forward to the ending. Seeing Spoony instantly put a smile on my face. Good to see him looking better.
@@3DSDFSeriously agree! Now I just wish he'd do videos again.
Good memories of Spoony reviewing that first movie...and that ending. I won't spoil it, but I had a big dumb smile on my face.
Same
The Spoony One is back!!! did not expect that. Thank you Snob!!
All hail the spoony one!
Woah, Spoony's still around. That's a blast from the past.
He is mentally unstable, but he is alive.
@@Artiyoum I know that, I was just pleasantly surprised to see him make a cameo. Seeing Spoony in a video is like leaving your home town for college then returning after you graduate to go to that one diner your parents took you when you were 5. It's a very pleasant nostalgic experience. It's a shame he burned the bridges with his fanbase, but he must look after himself.
I literally just finished rewatching Spoony's review on this last night. I'm so here for this.
It's embarrassing how many times I've seen that review 😂. It's in my nightly sleep playlist. My girl is so sick of that theme song.
@@LembeckIsStaying There's nothing wrong with Spoony's old glory! I re-watch his reviews from time to time!
It's good to know that spoony is genuinely trying to get back into reviews. And he appears as a guest for game streams on conversations with curtis. Run by the man who played curtis Craig in phantasmagoria 2
@@meapickle
I saw that, it was great.
@LembeckIsStaying they're playing ripper and all of chat loves referencing he's jokes and how strange it is to see them not actually said in game
“A horror film that just so happens to be set in a parody universe” is just incredible.
I believe that would be STUDENT BODIES.
Spoony, good to see you man.
So does the Spoony One Truely walk amongst us again? Or is this just a one time thing. Either way I"m glad to see him again.
S slowly dipping his toe back in the water, he's done some streams, guested on a couple of vids and now done this cameo, I think he may do a new review soon
@@Infern0121 What other videos did he appear in?
I've had the skullduggery theme song stuck in my head ever since Spoony's review 13 years ago
Absolute banger
Called in on how long it would take before Spoonys review would be brought up
@@VictoriousCatholic Re-reviewing one of Spoony's better movie review videos is acknowledging that Spoony is a non-presence on RUclips. As such, it's inevitable. I expect similar comments if/when Spoony gives up getting money for nothing on Patreon.
Oh my god, the man, the myth, the legend has appeared!!
Awwh that Cameo at the end ❤
Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me!
Ah loved the Skullduggery review when Spoony did it. That theme tune, the magician with that music and a villian named Dr Evil lol
Anytime for the last few years if I am in a character creator, I can't stop myself from saying, "I wanna be the warlock."
Hey, a Spoony cameo! Was not expecting that. Hope to see him in some full videos soon.
YES! The intro sequence appears to be permanent! Keep it, it’s PERFECT!
Also love the tape distributor intro before it. Such nostalgia!
Spoony's cameo felt like seeing a unicorn or something.
Great to see Spoony!
Great double film features and Spoony cameo. Awesome.
I’m totally going to rewatch this episode with a double feature of Spoony’s review. And AAAAAAHH!! The pre-credits cameo!!!! Love it!!
Also, what do you MEAN you never were into Dungeons & Dragons growing up? You’re Anton LeVay’s son, dammit!
@@garrettbutler6077 maybe, maybe not. Works either as a cross-reference to the good ol’ days or a cliffhanger. I’d love to see more new Spoony content, but if cameos are all he prefers, that’s awesome too.
Woah... a Spoony cameo. Haven't seen one of those in a minute.
I haven't thought of this movie sent spoony
And the end scene was beautiful
I can't believe I missed the Spoony cameo the first time I saw this video! Love to see him make a return!
Holy Hell! I remember Spoony doin this back in the day! Happy to see your take!
8:47 it’s the father of “Fall Out Boy’s”Pete Wentz and “Panic At The Disco’s” Brendon Urie.
Not only Spoony, but also Burton is alive and well!
Great review Brad and holy crap, Spoony!?
I remember when Spoony reviewed this like a decade ago
A double feature cinema snob episode? We are truly blessed.
The return of a bona fide opening sequence?! Is this Christmas already?!
That Big Sur Waterbeds commercial was an unexpected blast of local nostalgia.
HE"S BACK !!!!! YAAAAAAAY!!!!
I love these back to back episodes!
The longer-form Cinema Snob videos are some of my favorite videos to watch.
Its fun seeing that the main protagonist easily could fit in on a look-a-like and sound-a-like competition for Johnny Depp in Sullduggery. Slegehammer makes me think of both Peter Gabriel and the cover art for Kill Em All.
I'm just going to say as much as I love the interesting tid bits the occasionally very funny joke and the schtick of the Cinema snob character. I think my favorite part of the experience is the old timey commercials. They always remind me of my childhood in unexpected ways and I look forward to the interludes.
Nice Spoony cameo.
Came for the Spoony-Cameo and was not disappointed.
Great to see you again, Noah, wish you the best!
Also great video as always, Brad!
Ah Skullduggery, I had almost forgotten about you. Great review as always Snob. and Sledgehammer was the icing on the cake.
My mom's first exposure with D&D had her pick up my books, look at the art inside, then tell me she didn't like the front cover art. When I offered to put a book cover on it, she agreed, then asked if I work with demons in it. I said no, and she was fine with it, figuring it was no difference between it and the old stop motion adventure movies she raised me on.
"I'm not gay, I'm just uncomfortable."
Chandler Bing in a nutshell.
Yeah, in Tarot, the Death card signifies and ending, and hopefully growth and experience gained by that ending. Could be a job, a relationship, even just managing to quit smoking. It very rarely actually signifies death.
I first learned of this from Spoony's hilarious review years ago.
"Oklahoma Smuggler" is so obscure, it doesn't even have enough votes on IMDb to show the rating.
When you watch this, pour one for you and one for your homie Spoony.
“When do I hit a button to exit the killers through a trapdoor.”…priceless!!!!
Like many I'm sure, I first heard of Skullduggery from Spoony's review in late 2011, because he previously reviewed Mazes & Monsters, the early Tom Hanks movie that's also about D&D obsession.
4:31- Me too.
5:40- Whoa, didn't expect that connection. Been a long time since I've last watched Sponny's reviews of this and Mazes & Monsters.
11:28- This bit also popped in my head when you showed the trailers to this and Pieces in 1983 in Film.
14:30- One word, ma'am: Nightmarish.
15:08- Okay, but where's the part where she tells him that his bike is in the basement of the Alamo?
17:04- Probably the same place Jack Napier went to after falling into that vat of chemicals.
23:01- This reminds me more of the party from Hellraiser: Hellworld.
24:45- I was also thinking of Skeletor.
Skullduggery is like Wacko if it tried to take itself seriously.
30:55- *THANK YOU.*
38:50- I'm getting "baby shower sequence in Las Vegas Bloodbath" flashbacks with this scene.
44:46- 🤣😡
52:42- I doubt it.
54:30- 😲
Man........this takes me back..........I miss Spoony
Don't joke about that man....mazes and monsters is a far-out game
I remember Spoony reviewed Skullduggery . That was a good video, yours is too
First Spoony, now the snob review this epic D & D movie.
Wait... Was that a wild Spoony I just saw at the end???
@@garrettbutler6077 I hope so. I do miss seeing Noah doing stuff online. I even started to re-watch his old reviews.
When the world needed him more than ever, he returned....
Double feature and one of them is Skullduggery? You spoil us Brad, I haven't been this giddy since "JAIL" made it to the top on 2015's Snob Moments!
Spoony... A Spoony cameo?!
years after losing his intro and i think being the only one out of the old channel awesome group with no intro he once more has a intro it feels kind of nice there is a intro there
This makes tabletop RPG's seem so much more epic than they really are.
“Or is it their first draft of the Mega Man cover!” Truly inspired insight!!!
YES! I watched Sledge Hammer on Night Flight Plus, you are doing God's work saving people time, and help people find other things to watch on the service. Not necessarily a "bad" movie, but definitely could have been heavily edited down to a shorter run time.
Loved the *Spoony* cameo at the end!
Every time I see that kid walk into the book all i can think of is 'if i can't see them then they can't see me'
53:32 The least of the Baldwin brothers dedicated himself to “continuity” in shot on shiteo. You had one job!!
10 charisma is the charisma of a normal person... so 7 sounds about right for the characters in this movie
Been waiting to see someone else review Skullduggery ever since I saw Spoony's in 2010.
Anybody remember Spoony? Anybody at all?
yep of course. He still streams rarely. He did a really good one called "Live Wire - Holodeck Klingon Special" I do miss the spoony vids myself.
Hes recent replaying Ripper on the Conversations with Curtis channel which is run by the actor who played Curtis in Phantasmagoria 2
@@ReignWaterBurns That is spoony. He started around the same time as brad, nostalgia critic, and angry video game nerd. He was once rated the funniest man on the internet. But then depression hit him hard and he faded.
Finally came around to watching this one. I remember when Noah "Spoony" Antwiler reviewed "Skullduggery" years ago. Cool to see your take on this one. Yeah, "Skullduggery" is an odd one, it seems to have a lot in common with the similar "Mazes & Monsters", since both movies stared Wendy Crewson. However "Skullduggery" looks to be the more funnier one. As for "Sledgehammer", nice to see another "shot on shttio" movie on here, only wish it cut down on the slow-mo. Also props for the Spoony cameo.
Good to see Spoony again, Come back Noah we miss you
BOARDINGHOUSE got a theatrical release?!?! Seeing the audience reaction to that one would be a treat.
Brad is love Brave is life! I wish I felt better enough to go see you at Planet Funk! My best wishes. When I get better I need to hit up your cons.
Ah, going back to the old SOV films, it’s like the old snob is back..
TGWTG crew. Good to see them coming back together like The Avengers.
It's the year of the Spoon! 🥳
YO!!! NOAH!!! thats awesome that you could get Spoony on for the video :)
Because of that mistake a lot of cinefiles don't realize he also produced and directed Rage of Vengeance and Space Chase
What a cameo...
That Skullduggery beginning credits song is like a discount version of “YES” !
Brad is the world’s leading expert in the movie Screwballs.
Holy crap...SPOONY!!! YAS!
OMG Spoony! I've missed him!
ITS THE YEAR O FTHE SPOONY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I kinda wish there's a future double feature episode with Fist of the North Star and Meet the Feebles since those are two movies that have been mentioned quite a lot on this show but have never been reviewed.
SPOONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact:
Skullduggery was Wendy Crewson's first film.
SPOONY!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Today is my birthday 🥳
Happy birthday to you 🎉!
Happy birthday. 🧁🎂🍺
Happy birthday🎉
How old though?
ruclips.net/video/dhdOPhTHeoE/видео.html
I must be the only one who saw the Skullduggery credits and thought, "wait, is that TV director Clark Johnson?"
Ron Howard: It was.
RANDOM SPOONY CAMEO!!!!!!!!
Seen him pop-up on the guy who played Curtis' channel a few times recently. Glad to see him doing better.
*The following are the musings of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] 22:48 - "I have to imagine those Ducks are quite proud to be given props by the Cinema Snob!"
Keep doing the double feature films Snob 💯
I know! These hour long videos are a great listen and watch 😊
This man went insane after watching this film!
After a financial dispute with whoever did the credits he was listed as Nick Imaz and my credit was Nick Nose because nobody had remembered my name lol
Happy to see the Spoon
The Death card is usually representative of "something" ending rather than a particularly ominous card.
You don't want The Falling Tower or the Nine of Swords.
Hell of a job by the killer from New Year's Evil to finish med school in 2 years.
It took three seconds of the intro to make me realize I'd confused Sledge Hammer and Slaughterhouse.
Spoony! ❤
Man I thought this was Burt Reynolds`s 1970 movie Skullduggery!!!!!!
Gee, that's funny. I thought this movie WAS a cinematic version of Mazes and Monsters.
Exactly what my sense of humor prescribed.
Thx! You're a lifesaver!
Seeing Spoong again was great. Hope you're doing well.
