Not gonna lie the most terrifying part of this movie was the non existent laboratory safety precautions. Open flames right next to flammable liquids, storing open chemicals on shelves that I know aren’t cleared for that amount of weight, no lab coat, leaving an open flame unattended, and that Nitric Acid is not properly labeled. Frankly it’s a miracle he was wearing safety glasses (but no gloves). I was half expecting him to start slurping the boiling liquid up through a pipet like straw

This one is a guilty pleasure for me. Incidentally, the building used as the high school was in reality an insane asylum that was abandoned. Today, the hospital was restored and converted into housing.
The title of April Fool’s Day was also used for the UK poster. The mask used in the film was a Cesar mask made in 1977.

How did they not know this was all a setup by the classmate they bullied? Especially with Marty's locker? Oh wait it doesn't matter because it was all a dream, albeit a stupid one. As for the victims, even if they didn't disfigure him or picked on him i still wanted Marty to creatively and painfully kill them because they where AAF (it took actually a little bit too long before the fun started).. The film should have ended with the killer coming out of the showers after the last kill...

Honestly, would’ve been better if the film ended on an actual April Fools joke. Like if they still do the “it-was-all-a-dream” ending, but with Carol instead, then when they actually go to the reunion, they seem to be the only ones who show up to the gym again, only for Marty to suddenly repeat the same prank they did to him at the beginning of the film. Just finally saying “Happy April Fools,” before cutting to black.
It would’ve been a much more fitting ending than just “Marty-goes-crazy-but-for-realsies.”

I caught it on TV and got a Bootleg DVD off eBay before a real DVD release was available. For a while this film was BURIED and super niche but has really caught on seemingly in the horror community (GOOD!) - This one deserves a sequel. It's got all the cliches and kills and unintentionally goofy moments of a good "80s slasher B-Movie" and yes - Simon deserves some praise. I always thought he had a really unique performance and was very sympathetic.

This is why it's always better to just punch your bully in the face first thing kids. Avoids the burning chemical bath, 20 year stay in the asylum, complex revenge plot setup, and eventual failure.

I have seen this movie twice. I still scratch my head at a bathtub being in the school bathroom.

I was about to say even for slasher standards the cast of characters getting killed were abnormally stupid and the deaths were super contrived but well I guess the ending actually explained that.

Carol claiming that Marty followed the “rules” of April Fools and would leave them alone since it was after noon is completely stupid. They pulled the prank that caused him to be disfigured a long time past noon which means they broke that rule themselves.

In Canada, we have the same April Fools rules, unless it's changed, since the 90's.

The rare horror film that makes me want to see the entire main cast dead in the first 10 minutes and not be an annoying slog.
