Once you start, you'll never want to play in one 16:9 screen again in your life. Not even a 21:9 gives the same inmersion. Neither a 50" or bigger screen. That will only make everything look bigger, but not increase the field of view. FOV is everything! More important than ultra high resolutions i.m.o. Oh, and the bezels, you won't notice them at all, I guarantee that! An absolute must for sim racing, very veeery recommended for third person open world games, and I've heard (I don't play them myself) not so useful for hardcore first person shooter gamers.
@Rifte thanks for the help, but i set up my 3 monitors a month ago, ha ha. For anyone who cares, the center is hooked up with HDMI and the peripherals are display port, but it doesn’t matter because they all have VGA adapters and ports. The quality isn’t too bad. I only set it all up because I got some old, identical monitors for free.
Drake Golden it all comes down to $$$. 3 x23" monitor cost my total 130bucks, and 2x 660ti=500bucks. and now it really feels good. somehow see the game play thru video is just bad.....you have to actually play it once..
Drake Golden I use 3 monitors for gaming and multitasking, the flexibility in 3 monitors is that if i plan to game on 1, I can. With a ultrawide, my fov will be a problem. Multitasking won't be as easy since it's only within 1 display as well. At the end of the day, i think what you do with your setup is most important.
You can play within a dome monitor at 99k resolution, 999hz refresh rate, and .0001 nano second response time. Will be able to play all games at maxed out super mega extreme ultra high settings.
Wait i have a triple monitor setup using eyefinity and im not using a display port and everything is working fine. am i missing something?? All games work fine
TheAymanhawk23 The amd r9 cards should not need to use a displayport. Though there are a lot of issues,(with rebrand cards) witch are mostly resolved after getting a active displayport adapter.
TheAymanhawk23 yea I have my side rig with a r9 270x and one display is greyed out. cant activate the 3rd display for the life of me. Tried every port config.. maybe because the 3rd display is a cheap old lower res monitor who know. Just using it for work.
brybrycrivello Try messing around with drivers, had the same problem when i had a 270. after a driver update my eyefinity didnt work, then messing with drivers and ddu, and it worked after 3 or 4 reinstalls of drivers.
Great video, actually love all your videos. Very new to the "Tech scene" and I'm full force into my research and am excited for my ultimate gaming(PC/Console) set up to be constructed. thanks for the tech help!
americanv8ss i really didnt feel the bezels are get in the way since I treat the extra 2 monitor as a "aid" anyway. not mentioning they are different brand than the middle one and even to each other(color difference). just aid...i hate more when some game doesnt even support it or with the program in description.
americanv8ss I have read somewhere that you can dismantle the bezels, do some weird sht, and then set the monitor side-by-side. Of course, that weird sht will void your warranty... but it looks super nice. Don't ask for the link. It was awhile ago so I'm not going to look for it again. :-/
Oyamada13 You can diminish you bezels in this manner, absolutely. You'll never get rid of them though. But with some panels your bezel can be just a few millimeters thick, instead of 1-2cm. Of course, those exposed edges are very brittle.
I watched this video, and this is the first time I have come across NCIX, I first thought, oh, no... not one of these guys, and then all of a sudden, he was actually hilarious, the end killed me. thank you so very much for what you're doing, must subscribe.
I never understood why people put the bezels side-by-side as in this video. Why not overlap them to have half as much bezel showing between the monitors?

I have two monitors but I have them so I can check things on the other screen while I play games on the primary screen
Triple monitor is just not worth it. The biggest reason being that game developers for some reason refuse to put multiple cameras in the UI for the game, making the screen stretch horribly on the side monitors, which looks god awful. Not to mention DICE seems to be the only developer that even acknowledges people play on multiple monitors and puts all the UI elements on the center monitor while everyone else just puts them where they'd normally go on a single monitor. Seriously developers, it's 2015 and only ONE company seems to even get this simple concept.
NakedSpaceMan some old game does support it too. NFS:most wanted. For me it is hell worth it. I bought 2 second hand monitor for like 50 bucks to my 660ti sli set up. I am not some graphic-holic , i dont mind put setting in average at all, and i can now enjoy the immersive game play without spending too much money. I feel you, every word. its fking 2015, the 2 side monitor still functions as "aid", because they look horriblely stretched.....is it really that hard for the developers to solve this problem alone with some UI issue? like they have already made the entire game!
NakedSpaceMan Personally I like the stretch and don't even notice it when playing BF4 and other games. You're meant to look at the centre screen, not gazing off to the side monitors. Look in the middle and use the sides as peripherals, you don't notice it and to me the stretch is good. Liangshi Xu I run mine off triple 4gb 670 cards & 144Hz monitors. BF4 runs smooth as butter on Ultra if you set the HBAO, SSAO settings etc properly. Although in a chopper I can only run High settigns due to the speed your FOV moves. Still happy though.
+Barry Perry having the extra FOV is not worth it if you have a bezel right in the middle. Stick with one big monitor for gaming. I have a 34" and 2x27" for multimedia productivity and gaming, but only really use the center for gaming. 34" is a pretty nice FOV without needing to spend a ton more on GPU power.

Not necessarily. Depending on your system, if you have DisplayPort 1.2 w/ MST available, you can daisy chain multiple monitors together. Alternatively just get 1 GPU that has 3-4 ports , which is what most people do anyhow. I just posted a video about MST the other day.

P1xelPlay There are ways, but you have to basically have the exact same screens. superuser.com/questions/662564/how-can-i-get-3-monitors-working-with-intel-onboard-graphics-and-a-geforce-560-t
I wish more instructional and tech-education videos were fast-paced like this.. Too many other videos take way too long to get to the point. Cheers, thanks for the tips.
If someone made the kind of monitor that has built in 2 side monitors so that the whole screens won't be "blocked" by the 2 corners of the monitors. A perfect view, something like the samsung curved monitor i guess...
The first clear video that also explains about the calculation of the sizes + that I need an active Displayport/HDMI cable for one my displays to work with an AMD card.
Steven Trocino It is tough man, I know! One big screen is expensive, and three smaller ones with thin bezels and a mounting stand is brutal on the wallet too! I only have two old 1280x1024 monitors right now.
Great vid as usual :D Could you make a vid on the same topic but include details about pros & cons with gaming on the center monitor, using the others for system monitoring & / or streaming as well as web browsing & work/school stuff? Also, as I'm considering building a PC with 3x1080p 24" / 27" monitors when the zen processors & polaris GPUs are out... What CPU & single RX xxx solutions would you recommend looking into to keep fps as stable as possible?
Yes and no. If you setup for surround or eyefinity, your computer will act like there is a giant one monitor. That means one wallpaper. There are ways to fix this by splicing three different wallpaper by yourself to make custom wallpaper or use third party app like wallpaper engine. If you set it up for mirrored, then you can assign three different wallpaper without customizing it yourself.

MrGenedancingmachine They're only a peripheral issue. Low pixel density would seriously damage the experience in all areas, especially center screen.

MrGenedancingmachine In front of what? They're only a peripheral presence. All I would see in front of me is the middle screen.

Skeletor Jopko cos if you move in your chair even 1 inch, the bezel alignment fails because one is closer than the other...

Not on ultra @ 60fps, but on medium to high, yes.

TheGamer720x u can't, you'll have to enter sv_pure 0 steam server to play. Cause the pic is locked to 80 !
TheGamer720x pov*
could you have 3 monitors with on board graphics lol
+Gaming247412 If you don't plan on gaming sure.
+Max McTabish no, because (as far as i know) there are no motherboards that support 3 outputs for the internal gpu
P1xelPlay There are ways, but you have to basically have the exact same screens.
superuser.com/questions/662564/how-can-i-get-3-monitors-working-with-intel-onboard-graphics-and-a-geforce-560-t
only with something like an old ass hp pavilion or somethin like that.
z97 a ASUS does
I wish more instructional and tech-education videos were fast-paced like this.. Too many other videos take way too long to get to the point. Cheers, thanks for the tips.
DAMN THAT VIDEO QUALITY IN 2015 UNBELIEVABLE!!!
If someone made the kind of monitor that has built in 2 side monitors so that the whole screens won't be "blocked" by the 2 corners of the monitors. A perfect view, something like the samsung curved monitor i guess...
A awesome reality i'm looking at :D
A tv
Samsung has already made one.
It's called widescreen...
Or just buy a 50 inch tv
Dumbass
It would cost more than this and look better I am far from a peasant
Dylan Ohalloran 3 monitors are 3 times the resolution of a single 1080p screen
But if it's 4k it's close I take it back about looking better but it would be one screen and wouldn't look bad in my opinion
with 3 monitors you'll be able to see more, that's the point of this...
Does it have to be three monitors or can you use two
You can use 2, but the same rules apply, like using 1 display port for Radeon graphics
don't use two. you will see why
2 monitors= crosshair in the bezel
yep haha. found out the hard way.
Yes but I recommend not to go with 1 or 3 or more not two
The first clear video that also explains about the calculation of the sizes + that I need an active Displayport/HDMI cable for one my displays to work with an AMD card.
Very informative. In the process of setting up or planning a triple for my son.
step 1: wait til 2016 Q1
Step 2: Buy Oculus VR
Step 3: Never leave home ;)
I guess Nvidia cards are better than AMD then? Huh?
Searching for a graphics card for my Ryzen 2200g
pretty sure i enabled eyefinity on 290X in 2016/early 2017 without display port connection... so maybe their driver has improved since 2015
I just hate the fucking bezels thats all
Toze Neto get smaller bezels
+SykoSkwerl99 not without selling a kidney
Steven Trocino It is tough man, I know! One big screen is expensive, and three smaller ones with thin bezels and a mounting stand is brutal on the wallet too! I only have two old 1280x1024 monitors right now.
Yes indeed Sr., well, at least we're ahead of consoles.
Congrats on 1 million
This guy's humour is so underrated
watching Linus from 2019 hahahahahahahaha
watching from 2020
Love the presentation I will try it 🎮 right now
What's that triple monitor stand shown in the video called? Maybe a direct link to that item? Thanks! Very helpful video!
great video... very charismatic character as the host.
What racing game were you playing in this video? I like it.
woah, how far have we come from this setup...
hoi chloe!
Sir is the main monitor attached with the other monitors
Great vid as usual :D
Could you make a vid on the same topic but include details about pros & cons with gaming on the center monitor, using the others for system monitoring & / or streaming as well as web browsing & work/school stuff?
Also, as I'm considering building a PC with 3x1080p 24" / 27" monitors when the zen processors & polaris GPUs are out... What CPU & single RX xxx solutions would you recommend looking into to keep fps as stable as possible?
love this guy
Never thought about triple monitors before... Now it's all I think about
Can i do that with a PlayStation. ??
Anyone know if there is a more recent version of a video like this?
This guy is informatively hilarious!!
OK I get that, but I'm trying to find an explanation out there for why it's a good gaming setup, how does it feel.
Can u get triple monitors with any monitor?
Has nvidia taken surround off because its not working for me?
what happened to linus why isnt he on there anymore
all sorted mate thanks again
wait what is the name of that thing u connect all the monitors on ?
Do the three monitors have to all have the same background image?
