  • Apparently pressure from our parents to succeed at school is always relatable, even against the backdrop of the political and social upheavals of 1970's India. To find out more about Gustad and Soni, and whether or not their oldest son ever attends the Indian Institute of Technology, watch the Canadian film, Such a Long Journey.

Finished reading the book today and I really loved it. Beautifully written and I wish I could keep reading it forever. The movie looks well made as well but seeing the comments below, it's prob gonna be hard to find. Thanks for posting this clip! It looks like the film stays very true to the book.

It's available through Amazon or try your local independent video store. A lot of the times they can order it in for you.

I have read this book, by Rohinton Mistry. It's an excellent book, about Gustad Noble and his family.

It is very difficult to locate; I have a copy of this film on VHS; you can obtain the DVD version on Amazon, from third party sources, for about eighty dollars...
