I watched it for 5 mins and I felt deeply moved like all others. I have immense respect and love for this community for the beautification they did to India in all fields over this period of time. The Love and care all of you have for your community is just commendable. I hope we all think n feel likewise.
Ashish, brother there are many other people who deserve your sympathy. Parsis usually take care of themselves and their own kind - this family may not be pure Parsi that's why they must have abandoned them. Their charities are only for themselves...they treat other Gujju's and Hindus with contempt and feel ashamed to associate with Indians.
Atharva Gujjar hi. I am a Parsi. You really need to read up on the contributions of the Parsi community for our country. We are a minuscule community in India. Yet our contribution is huge. Please educate yourself before you write ignorant remarks.
The film was made in 2003 when I was a student at the Pune Film Institute. Since then a few featured in the film have died, and some have relocated. What hasn't changed however is the level of poverty within the community. I have met many more of them who didn't want to face the camera when I was making the film. I got to know them through the offices of the Poona Parsi Panchayat who gave me their details. They contribute a small amount every month to them. You can get in touch with them.
My dear, how our community people are staying..me and my mom were almost in tears...Dear kaevan...kindly send us the adresses of the people out there....Me and my mom would like to contribute atleast something small.!!. My God ! May Ahura Mazda TAke care of them !..... :((((((....i pity the diffrnce between Bombay and Poona Parsi Punchayet !..... Juzz tk care of dem god !.... this video juzz came out of nowhere on my screen !.... Juzz tk care of dem god !.....
I am a Parsi and proud of it. It makes me very sad to see members of my community in such a state. We need to look after our own in the community like many other communities do. Unfortunately the successful Parsis such as the Tatas- who are of priestly descent. The Godrejes the Wadia and Shapoorji Pallonji Mistry need to look after their own instead of adopting a cosmopolitan attitude in their businesses. I would love to return to India and help my community and work within my own community.
My father saw a lot of poverty in his childhood. Thank you for doing this film. Most people think Parsi means rich and loaded. As a community we need to do more for our poor & under privileged. What is the Panchayat doing to address these issues.
Thanks kaiwan, for making this video is an eye opener. Very saddening, to note that some corners of our community are literally living in utter penury. It means charity is not being funneled in the right direction. Majority of these people are persons, either who have no childrens or are unmarried. Our population is going down because we have not moved with time, and late marriages or no marriages. Again no marriage is because of economic factors or because our community girls are absolutely finicky and have extremely high expectations. I am sure if these people had kids, their life's would have been better. Again this is a vicious cycle, and every thing starts with an important aspect of life marriage. Marriage should be done at early age, and thereafter one should get busy with career. But unfortunately reverse we do, in a hope that a successful career would help them get a suitable match, but that is a great fallacy. aI have seen successful lawyers, c.a. etc, have remained bachelor's, inspire of being at the pinnacle of their career. The irony of the situation is that some of our community girls have chosen to elope with rickshaw drivers, wastrels, from other community, but have rejected good eligible bachelor's. The parents of the girls are to be blamed for their tacit support to the girls. They fail to understand that a bachelor of twenty five, will not be that settled as a men in his forties. It is pertinent to note that the girls parents had married each other when the girls fathers income was hardly five hundred rupees in those days, but that same old men is critical about the suitor earning say forty thousand a month. There are many things which can be written, but in my honest opinion, all the problems that the parsis today are facing is because their values have degraded, they have not changed with times and the last and not the least the issue of late marriage or no marriage. Cause I have pointed out, the results are evident and in front of your eyes. Jago parsi jago, before you people become extinct.
They are corpse bearer acting as Scavengers . their condition is as pitiable as Hindu lower caste. They live in Dongari, near silence tower, are untouchable in Parsi community.there is a story of corpse bearer written by Parsi Mistri.
Unbelievable! I always believed parisies are rich people. 😱 Past few days I have been searching for parsi food and other info videos on RUclips. I came across a video in which a reasonable parsi person said they believe in good thoughts words and deeds and generating capital more n more and share with others( with their own community, In my perception) then how come these parsies are suffering from poverty??
Refusing to acknowledge the poor and destitute among us will not make them disappear. This suffering and backwardness must be eradicated by competitive education and opportunity for gainful employment. The elderly should be afforded some food security. Those from the trusts responsible for addressing the presence of poverty in our community should be forced to show evidence of meaningful, significant progress made in reasonable time or be given the boot, in order to be replaced with those with greater merit for the task. How many times must we see injustice before we act; we do not want to bring our children into such a society, least some generation in the future our children risk suffering the same fate of becoming impoverished and forgotten by their own family and countrymen.
Xshnaothra Ahurahe Mazdå. I am sorry but I want to humbly correct you on the name of our Creator. Ahura does not mean "aura" this is a misleading translation. "Ahura" means "divine lord of life (ahu+ra)" Mazda (from "mans"=spirit, mind, "da"=user of) "wise", "one who [wisely] uses his spirit". Ahura Mazda = Wise Lord of Life.
I pray to god that each and every human leaving on this planet should always have a home, money and caring family 🤲
An eye-opener, for those of us who don't associate poverty with Parsis.
b4 watching this my perception was wrong that all parsis are rich..
thank you for making this film

Great effort in showing the dark side of an otherwise relatively prosperous community in stark contrast to what others think is reality.
What's a touching gesture for one's commumity =)
So touching and heartbreaking
You should add more details so that people can help them

Manas'dha (benevolent intellect and psyche)
