Rose Royce wasn't the name of the singer, it was the name of the whole band. They are they were the first one to perform I'm Going Down and a lot of other great songs. You would love all the song the sang for the movie Car Wash.

What’s funny is the producer of the song gave her the stage name Rose Norwalk…which was weird…..but her actual name Gwen was fine to me.

I was born in 75 and I remember my Mom playing this on her 8 track player. Such good memories.

One of the few songs that I instantly liked when I heard it. I literally had a crush on Gwen Dickey without knowing what she looked like...her voice sang to my heart. When I saw her, I was like..."Yeah, the voice matches the woman!" She is amazing!

In my 70+ years, and all of the compilations of different genres of music, this is in my top 5!!!! This so melodic, soft/sweet, nice to dance to nice & close and it reminds me of the better days of a not so good marriage.
I saw Gwen live a couple of years ago. Her voice live is totally amazing and brought tears to my eyes. Some people have so much talent it's awe inspiring.

7 year old me loved Rose Royce. A terrific smooth super cute singer and a great band. They had another couple of hits over here in the UK with Love Don't Live Here Any More and Car Wash.
Royal Royce was a great group during the 70's. Lead singer had a beautiful voice. One they a lot of the 60's and 70's music had that I loved and still do was class. They put there entire heart and soul into the performances.

Dwen sings like an angel, so sad what happened to her a few years back but although she can hardly walk now, she didn't give up and still performs live as a solo artist.

I only discovered this song less than a year ago. I was shocked that it was recorded in 1977 and I had never heard it. It is now firmly in my top-25 list. No question.

I remember this song when it came out. You have to understand that we had our LPs, 45s, and AM radio. And our Imagination! Had to be there to understand the Vibe. The Atmosphere. Was all Anolog, Not Digital. Just people grooving to Pure Music.

I'm an old guy and proud. And I really miss the more innocent days of the 70s, when musical groups, white and black, sang songs of love, hope, and joy, devoid of tha anger and negativity we hear in the music of the 21st century. Just my opinion. I absolutely love this song, and I love Rose Royce.

i'm glad you reacted to this old school song. it's a classic. i love how back in the day the costumes or outfits were always on point and the group members didn't mind matching with each other. i think she was wearing something that was popular back in the day called "Culottes", pronounced "koo-locks". i have no idea what was on her head but i love that too.
