the french besieging the spanish in the carlust wars seems very odd considering the war was betweeen the carlist who supported don Carlos's claim to the crown and the Christinos who backed queen Isabella's claim to the thorne. the french did send the foreign legion to spain but placed it under spanish command. the british also sent a legion to participate again it was under spanish command.
