@@RNKel1 I think it should be like the reasearch facilities, just you could put them on any province in a state. So even if the attackers take over, if you put it further from the front lines you still have it and you can take it back easier if the enemy takes it.
This is gonna help. Yesterday I tried France, built up til 1940, died to Germany in 41. Apperantly you shouldn't send 2/3 of the army to defend Belgium and the Netherlands when you have red air.
The France video he did before this one is even better. I adapted it a bit to also include space marines and do the fort exploit and it was a cakewalk. If you don't want to turtle doing the little entante and defending Czechia also works.
@@Hyde_Hill I've over invested into civvies, had massive econ by 39 but I started building mils too late so my army just wasn't up there. But I'll fix it and get my French achievements
@@Turcepique tbh I skipped civies and did fine lol. France starts with a lot plus a lot from trade etc. Infrastructure followed by mills and then the fort trick and supply in the key places.
Last patch made Germany so weird, 80% of time I see them give Slovakia for Danzig, declare on Poland in 1940 anyway. And when I play France 90% of the time they end up declaring on the Soviet Union despite being at war on another front, it's something that they used to do like 5 years ago until Paradox patched the AI to have only one front open at any given time to make sure Germany doesn't end up crushed on 2 sides. Don't know what happened but its weird.
Also in this new dlc has seemingly made german ai to lose more often than win which slightly weird because the dlc is about them. Germany stalls pretty quick in the soviet union and eventually get pushed back all they way to Berlin or get defeated by the allies even without my intervention. It seems the new change sto the Ai has definitely needed Germany.
@@gabilax2745 I get that In the current game I have I did a run as Italy, in the Axis and formed Rome. Helped in beating Russia and even did a little infrastructure building in areas to help Germany get the Autocracy focus. But for some reason it keeps doing other focuses it's been really weird.
@@arnavsrivastava1158 I would say it's actually kinda nice that they always end up loosing in historical, only problem is as you said, they loose way too quickly. I think the allies AI should be hard coded to not launch any naval invasion of France or the Benelux before at least late 1943.
@@story_appreciator6666 Yeah for me it's every time I try forming the EU as France. From 1940 to 1941 everything is perfect, I get all the warscore because Germany only has a front with me and then everything goes downhill because for some weird reasons they end themselves by declaring on the soviets. Very frustrating because after that I loose all the war score and I cannot form the EU.
As a guy that really likes playing Czechoslovakia or Poland and just be on the defensive the whole game, this sold me the DLC. Hope the link in description is affiliate and you get a cut Dave.
I feel like HoI4 would benefit massively from a wargoal system like in Vic or EU where, if you hold onto a certain area for long enough, it builds war score and can lead to the capitulation of a nation, not just deathwarring for all eternity
I’d still want you to try this for an unconventional playthrough: 😇🇬🇧 Handicapped Good Guy UK where you decolonize but stay democratic just before Germany invades Poland and essentially stay on the historic path. You challenge yourself by lacking the resources, but still get the buff of extra PP and manpower. Then you try to take down Axis without the US’s help, liberate them with collab governments (MAYBE puppet them), and THEN you do Operation Unthinkable to take down the Soviet Union and turn them into the Russian Federation.
FBG you know you can trade stability for more war support with the Support Spain decisions from that focus right? I usually use it even if I don't care about Spain to get Partial Mob earlier.
And release Algeria from the get go, the focus to integrate them annex the puppet. With this you don't need to garrison the states and you get the factories from the generic focus tree
Should build infrastructure then civs first as france then mils, you get like 30 mils from focuses then switch to mils, your eco is so bad😭😭 no offense, just bothers me, you do you
It's so bad that it takes a building slot.
Isn’t it supposed to go underground anyways

Same with a few other of the build able ones
honestly it should give you lvl 12 forts and lvl 6 aa if its going to waste a building slot
@@deathdealer312 why not just make it impassable at that point? Since the ai isn't getting through it

You can shift + click on the icons in Ungrouped Air Wings to select all planes of that type, rather than having to hunt down planes via map
Maybe this dlc would be perfect for the mod where you play as the us and constantly naval invaded
Germany making big brain moves and just not attacking france
Should have probably done historical hehe. Anyway it does seem they are not really worth the investment.
it doesnt really means anything if Germans ignore you 😭
still cool video Dave
48:40 -The AI attacks that tile because it's a plains tile that can be attacked from 3 directions.
I think the forts proved their value. The ai deemed you so powerful they didn't even want to fight.

Funny that the allies pounded 35 million men into encampment walls for the next wave for a war that was declared on them.
I just comment for the algho, but you perfectly demonstrated, that defending in HOI4 isn't worth trying.

5:48 is crazy
Another ,,expoit,, or more rather bug is, that you can stack AT, AA and arty support companyes.
benelux owns in this regard, + a naval invasion near denmark, game over.
Maginot remains useless, just not for the reasons we expected

What mod are you using to show the construction bonus in the build menu?
Can you do the same in ragnarok 1939 and every non core country and place declare war in you with the enemy is super strong.

How do you get the build speed modifier to display on each building project?
What is the mod called to see the construction bonuses on the factories ?
what mods shows the penalties for construction
Why are your chapters about the US?
I know this is kind of the same video but do you think you could a video of the USSR but defensive like this.
Are you ok my guy? Your voice sounds weary, I hope your health is okay
albania if it was french
Was this iron mode?
If not, do a save disaster campaign, of yourself, and try to win at the end
