Dave Cobb produces the BEST rock band today, Rival Sons!! A match made in heaven!
Thanks Dave!
Though I like and enjoy Herb, I think this format for guests where Dave is doing the interview alone works so much better.
That interview just totally CENTRES your mind to what we should be thinking about! Yay!
as a 68 year old, i've experienced all the main types/styles of recording. from live, no click, to modern registration with everything under the microscope. nothing will work unless the vox/melody is in spirit. j.
Thanks a lot for sharing your passion and thougts !
Just cut the first three songs on my first album. This was a big help in setting up for recording. Not caring so much about the mic bleed if you keep the feel/energy high. Thank you to Pensado´s and Dave Cobb.
Dave Cobb seems like one cool dude.
Fantastic! Learned a lot watching this. Thanks for posting.
The two coolest Daves in the coolest room.
Great chat thanks, Commit, and definitely pulling the JJP vox plug out more often.
great interview/chat! thank you guys for all you're doing! peace...
aaaaaaah wicked finally no herb in the interview.... phew... thank god!! pls more like this pretty pls!
Great format, lighting, and editing! Love this way of storytelling!
This format is much better than past interviews.
Been waiting for this one!
Of course, he's got the brain of a drummer / producer (he understands mixing rhythm patterns). I like it when he says, mix the drums, buss / print it in stereo and forget about it. So true!
also, Musician Mixers tend to mix according to their instrument, Guitars/Keys/Drums heavy but Vocal is King! He likes to mix vocals first and not last. I agree as long as the song balance doesn't sound too whimpy.
Great Episode, Always learning new stuff, Thanks.
the part about a willingness to commit is so awesome. like Cobb said about something else in the interview, hearing that validated the way that i (try to) approach recording
I’m just in the middle finding out what albums he’s responsible for. The list goes on and on and they’re all great! Just awesome!
Am I right? He’s having the band play so quietly that you can hear the singer without headphones????
Very good episode. Fully agree on everything that was said about committing. Thanks, you guys!
So many beautiful drum kits
Plenty of genius on tap here...well worth watching!
Great stuff, real folks having a real conversation.
My studio is actually next door to the city dump.
I can always tell the “real musicians“ because they say ‘cool’. Some people are like ‘what about bleed over’,
I’m like “what’s bleed”?
We too strive to have a great vibe; it’s all about fun, no time limit, great results !!! 😁😁😁😁
Great interview!
Great interview
Awesome! Keep it up guys!
Wow! That’s the man!
Fiddlin' John Carson (not the guy from The Tonight Show) is the name Dave Cobb was looking for as the first country record. (But I think Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family were before that, though?) He was heard on WSB two years before a fiddler kicked off the Grand Ole Opry on WSM.
Thanks!!!
One on one with Dave Pensado - love it
Dave seems to be such a nice guy....I hope I can make a record with him someday.
to both daves...........excellent. j.
so, he produced "the joke" by Brandi Carlile, simply perfection... in her Grammy speech she said that Dave Cobb wrote the song, but internet said she wrote it, so wtf? just want to know who wrote the lyrics...😌
What's with the 38 second intro?
he just won another grammy
What's so special about rhyming rail and nail?
That interviewer is good.
The arcanic organic, nice perspective nice painting , dinner is cooked in one session not 50
IS THERE A GHOST IN THAT STUDIO? SAW SOMETHING IN THIS VIDEO TWICE!
9:30ish
she så dääli yå så dääli yeah
9:45
It seems like they always talk about the same nostalgic stuff
Jesus Loves You
They maybe finally figured out that while Herb is a nice guy, he's not the star of the show. People only really care what Dave and the guests have to say.
What the fuck is up with us Americans not reading? I don't get it..
I didn't know Post Malone was an engineer too.
Great interview!
