Been using a vacuum chamber casting machine for jewelry casting since 1995. Never have had a failed casting from it. I’ve only cast one resin model and it came out perfectly well too.

As you say, you pay for quality, but the older I get the more I believe in the saying, "Buy once, cry once." I can only speak as I find mate. Like I said about the flask, not pretty - but very strong and durable. It's not meant to be glamorous, it's meant to do a job. AND it does the job well : )
price on these has spiked in the last couple of months and i expect it to keep rising, this will be a $2000 machine soon, excellent work and quality from arbe 💪🏼

Thanks for the demo. I really thought I'd have to buy a centrifuge machine in addition to this machine. Those can run $1000 too. But I still need the burn out kiln, etc. 😊
Centrifuges are good but they are very specific... ie, exactly THIS much molten metal into a flask that's exactly THIS size. Pour in too much and you risk hot rain.
But with a vacuum system, you can vary the size of your projects with safety and confidence 😁

@@vogman yes I do recycle it but it still goes down. Using the ultrasonic is much cheaper 😀 and I only use the ipa when printing for the queen. She's a sucker for a Fortnite Llama 😀

It´s interesting to see how the US has kept a goodly portion of its design and manufacturing capacity despite years of foreign competition, while in the UK we don´t manufacture much, preferring to import.
Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but I'm old enough to have grown up seeing obscure buildings in the UK, wondrous, mystical places that have passed into legend now. They were called 'Phaktrees' I think, or some similar Celtic expression. Kids today don't believe such places ever existed. But I remember the smoking chimneys 😉

What system/printer do you use to be able to 3D print the rings for casting in a material that will melt during the burnout. I have a 3D resin printer but I believe resin won’t melt during burnout. I’ve never seen a machine that will 3D print in the waxy material used here in the video. It’s be really helpful in designing my own pieces for vacuum casting

I would buy quality EVERY time is money allowed. Generally it doesn't. On this occasion I have been VERY lucky. However, as money is generally tight for me, I tend to go with budget options as often as possible ; )
@@vogman Budget is always the failing point to everything, its how we get the budget that separates us from the Men and boys, it's not an easy task to manage budget and hobby but you seem to be doing ok now, you have your youtube revenue which I'm guessing isn't much but on the other hand, it also allowed you to get seen and known, Which in terms got you the mars and the Kaya, probably for just the cost of paying the imports, in a way, you worked hard on your youtube channel and the pay is the tools you were sent. Work is work Doesn't always mean its Dollars and cents. but now that you have the reliable and professional tools to deliver quality goods, all that is left is for you todo, is find a good creative young intern designer and start making the real dollars, Don't forget Casting metal looks cool but it's not the only thing you can cast with the Kaya. in anyways, from here on in, I am looking forward to seeing knowledgeable and Quality stuff from you!
ya tienes un equipo de microfusion profesional, sabiendo utilizar estas maquinas, se obtiene un resultado muy bueno en los trabajos. yo tengo un equipo completo de microfusion al vacio, inyectoras, prensas vulcanizadoras, horno eléctrico de fundición, horno eléctrico de mufla para 3 cilindros,licuadora de cera al vapor.....etc. pero aun no empece a trabajar con esta técnica. por ahora no me da tiempo ni tengo el espacio adecuado para el taller. hago normalmente esculturas con la técnica del poliestireno perdido moldeado con anera en verde, estos trabajos no me dejan tiempo para la microfucion, para mi las piezas de joyería son mas difícil de vender, pero algún dia quiero empezar las primeras pruebas. saludos

what did you use to make the model rings?
I am new to casting and just learning and gathering information before I buy equipment. Do you do everything indoors or in area with large doors or outside? Can this work with metsls duch as brass and nickel silver? Great video. Subscribing now

This casting machine works indoors, but good ventilation is always recommended when casting, especially with brass as that gives off toxic fumes and should, ideally, not be melted indoors.

Hey VOG, I can't find this info anywhere: What temp do you have your flask at when it's time to pour sterling silver? I just can't seem to get that right. I soak my flask in the kiln at 960 for 1 hour x inches of diameter. So a 3" flask would be at 960 for 3 hours. However, when I pour I always get pitting all over the piece. What is your final temp and how long do you hold it there?? Cheers and thanks.
This figure is best taken from the supplier of the metal... it can vary a tiny bit. Without it, it's a question of experiment and in honesty that's the stage I'm at. When and if I ever perfect it, you can be sure I'll share : )

I have experience in casting non ferrous metals, and have been recovering and refining gold for about a year, and dabble with silver. I need to get into teeth and rings, but don't know where to start, as far as products go. Any pointers? you're my go to channel right now, great informative videos
Hi Jerry. For perfection, I'd go with wax every time. I'm increasingly of the mind that the home printer market is just not there for castable resins - yet. It will change in the near future without a doubt.
Have you got a resin printer? That's the place to start unless you're a skilled wax carver. Any of the machines I've reviewed will print beautifully for you. If money is no object, look at professional machines like the Phrozens as these WILL work with castable resin.
If you're on a tighter budget like the rest of us, a home printer if fine.
I'm hoping to be doing a little more wax work in the next few weeks, including silicone molds and wax injectors. So at that point I'll be better placed to offer an opinion.

That really doesn't seem that bad, especially for the quality.
genuinely expected it to be more. If you already had a semi-successful etsy or ebay store, this could be a solid investment that would net you a healthy income. Especially with how large of flasks it will take. I'd love to see it pushed to the limit with a crazy christmas tree sprue of tons of things.

Your videos have best inspired me to try a new hobby. Thank you! Ive been looking at these units. I currently use a 3 gallon vacuum chamber with a 3cfm pump (long hose) Ive been contemplating on buying just a replacement lid for the chamber and cutting it out to fit one of these fancy perforated flasks. just cut a hole in the top which is similar to this unit to hold the flask.. replacement lids are easily available. your thoughts? i have already relocated the point of suction to the lower side of the chamber from where it normally would sit at the top of the lid. I use the hole at the top of the lid to vacuum my heated flask (with seal)} just as you do in other vids. Thoughts about just cutting a 3.5 inch or whatever it is diameter hole in a plexi lid to save about 1100 bucks?.
I'm all for building your own and saving a few bucks if you can. I've built a basic casting system and I have a second in the pipeline that will do multi-flask types. The only thing that puts me off sharing that idea right now is that it's not a million miles different to the way Arbe do it. I didn't know that at the time I started building, but now I do I'm a little torn.
My stance is this... IF you have the money and won't miss it, you will be delighted with this purchase that will do exactly what you need it to do. IF you're on a tight budget, as I usually am, them DIY is the only way to go... and your DIY build may be superior to mine
@@vogman Your vids are an inspiration, I recently donated in gratitude. I have been using your homemade style vac (with the single hole) for a few pours with pretty solid success- (I have just recreated a few of my daughters lego figurines in nordic gold) I also have just received a spare lid for my vac chamber. Next step is to skillfully cut a 4 inch hole in it so that I can drop a perforated flask right into the chamber. I have noticed how smooth the process is when its all in one unit like Kaya but thats too rich for my blood currently. cheers

Arbe don't list a price as they are a manufacturer. You need to find retailers to get competitive prices. For example, pepetools.com sell this system.

My casting goes wrong with Kaya ever since I purchased it, I have done everything correctly even changed my investment powder etc but the silver I melt doesn’t reach to the ent of the mold
Strange. There's no reason why the Kaya should spoil your castings. Is it drawing a vacuum correctly?

I wonder how hot is the flask when you place them in the machine and how this rubber gasket can handle the heat ?
The silicone rubber gaskets do take a bashing and need replacing periodically, but it's amazing how much heat they can take. Even ordinary silicone, the stuff you might get from a local hardware store, can take up to 300C.

Thanks for showing us, why would someone use one of those big ol' centrifugal contraptions to cast jewellery when they could use something like this? I would really love someone to explain the pros and cons of each method.

Centrifugals are cheaper, though you would still need a vacuum table, vacuum and bell jar to prepare the investment. Older tech - many did it this way before vacuum casting became popular. You melt the metal in a crucible in the centrifugal while the hot flask is present but before you let it spin, so you only need a torch instead of a separate furnace to melt your metal, so that might be cheaper two. The solid flasks are cheaper too. The setup on the centrifugal might be a bit more complicated when switching from different sizes of flasks or casting weights. You have to adjust counter weights and the flask holder vs. changing plates and gaskets on the vacuum caster. Both yield great results. the centrifugal has the risk that if you do not estimate the amount of metal correctly, it can spray out of the top of the flask as it overfills the gate or blows out the bottom of the flask. Nothing quite so beautiful is a molten glowing arc of gold spinning off and splattering the walls, your equipment and yourself. It is possible to blow out the bottom or even the sides of a vacuum flask, but the molten metal will be contained in the vacuum chamber. I would say it is easier to operate and safer for most, certainly less daunting to first time unsupervised casters. Also note there are even more expensive complicated machines in which you can melt the metal as well.

You're right-ish. It's Powercast Wax which is a castable resin but is called "wax" by the manufacturer as they feel it has wax like properties. It's an excellent resin. I have reviewed it here - ruclips.net/video/xNipIFMKta4/видео.html

A little late on commenting here but can you tell me what -Hg this casting machine can regularly achieve?
I've found a Chinese version of this exact unit and it's able to achieve 26-27 -Hg. Can this one get to 29.9 -Hg??
I guess you get what you pay for but ultimately the choice is yours. I will say that investment casting responds well even to a moderate vacuum.
Is there an option to build that thin layer in chitubox?
It's my own invention... it comes in handy when adhesion is an issue, which it is with some resins. The large area SUCKS itself into place rather than sticks, but it works. Head over to Thingiverse.com and search for VegOilGuy. I shared this Priming prints there : )

I had much the same problem. I think you need speciality retailers, and that's typically of the jewellery trade. Find them and you should find this system. If you find it on a budget site, check again... just in case : )
