- You might have seen my video from last summer - my holiday in Lakka on Paxos.
I loved the place so much I went back again this year - and stayed again in Lakka.
But this time I visited Gaios and Loggos too.
Places I liked in Lakka:
Cafe???! : Try as I might, I haven't been able to find out the name of my favourite cafe in Lakka. But it's in the tiniest square in Lakka, find the little square and you can't miss it, it's right opposite Diogenis restaurant. The owners are lovely, the beer is cheaper than most places, but it's the atmosphere that makes it so special. Very highly recommended.
Rompolas Bakery near the harbour - fantastic pies and sweet treats. Open all day, but the pies sell fast and they only bake once a day.
To PaxiMadi restaurant - Lovely location, cheaper than many Lakka restaurants, real authentic Greek food, lovely staff.
Arriva Restaurant on the harbour arm - pricier than some, but a lovely family run taverna in a fantastic location. All their food is great but have their seafood. My gilthead bream the best I've ever eaten, superb.
Fanis cafe on the seafront - best view of any cafe in Lakka, good coffee, they sell Corfu beer on draught which is great, friendly staff and not over priced.
Romantica cafe/bar on the seafront. Decent prices, lovely view, but it's really special at night, often full, great music, good staff, the closest Lakka gets to a nightclub, fun place, well worth a visit.
Harami Beach taverna - this is on Lakka's second beach. It's a bit dearer than some, but the food is great and they offer free sun beds to customers too. The view is stunning, the staff nice and I often spend the whole day there, swimming, eating and drinking. A great place!
All of the places above are in the video.

Es una hermosa isla 🏝️ para soñar hermoso paisaje dónde la naturaleza por si habla ❤❤❤
My grandad had a beautiful house on the hills overlooking Lakka, absolutely gorgeous sight at sunset and even more beautiful in the sunrise
It's one of my very favourite places in the world ... and going up in the hills to get those spectacular views is unforgettable ...
How lucky I'm so jealous. Xxxx
Been to paxos was a great reggae festival as well while I was there !
Thanks Simon, visited Paxos from Parga trip , love it.
Thank you! Just such a shame we can't go there at the moment ...
Beautiful video, we were in Lakka the same time as you! Saw you a couple of times making the video. You got it spot on, this was our second time staying in Lakka, loved every minute and will be returning next year. Thank you for the film, will look at it during the winter and look forward to next summer!
Thank you so much for your kind comments Wendy. Yes, it was my second time too and I'm seriously considering going back next summer - a very addictive place isn't it? Best wishes, Simon.
Thank you for the beautiful video,I miss my small Island so much. For me it is the best place on earth. My first time was about more than 30 years ago.Lakka is my favorit and also vayoumi beach ,Antipaxi.Greatings from Germany
Thank you so much! Yes, Paxos is great isn't it? And I lived in Germany (Herford NRW) for 10 years in the 90s, I like Germany very much.
Fantastic video!
Went to Paxos in July absolutely loved it will never forget it and can't wait to go back one day,. Xx
Just seen this Hayley, thank you so much for your kind comments, as you say a very special place
Great video Simon. I’m off to Paxos next month!!
Thanks for your kind comments - you'll love it!
Thanks for this Simon. We spent 10 days in Lakka during early July & after seeing your previous video of the place I have to say it was spot on. The village was lovely & we really enjoyed Alejandro’s Taverna but we particularly enjoyed the walks out of the village into the olive tree groves in all directions. We have just returned from Leros which, although quite different, was interesting & well worth the visit. Pax’s is somewhere, unusually for us, that we would/will visit again.
Thanks again I for your video.
Thanks Martin, and glad you enjoyed my video - Paxos Mark 2! I had a fantastic holiday - again. I didn't do Alejandro's much this time, was too busy, I really needed to book a table. I'll have a look at Leros, people also say that Ithaca is similar to Paxos, small and not too touristy. I have a feeling, though, that I will be drawn back to Lakka - we'll see. Again, your kind comments appreciated. Simon
@@simonguettier Ithaca is just as you say, quite authentic, possibly more so. Its not quite as overgrown with olive groves but is beautiful nevertheless. Its the same formula....'go to islands where you have get a ferry to, dont stay on the airport islands'
Cheers & hope to see your next Hellenic adventure
@@martinsandford5899 Ah, yes, I like the 'go by ferry' rule, never thought of that! Best wishes, Simon
Great to watch this - just returned from a 2 week break in Paxos (our fourth holiday there) - would go back t'row - thanks for this well made video.
You're very kind. I was supposed to be there now but plans ruined by you-know-what! But such a lovely place isn't it? I'll be going for my 3rd trip next year all being well. Stay safe and thanks 4 your comments. Simon
The cafe bar is called Spiros- his son runs it now as he passed away a while ago well into his 90’s. Dont miss the sports bar, Dimitrius and Alexandra will make you very welcome and it’s good value. We are going back in May 2020 for the umpteenth time!,
We come to Paxos regularly with our two recent trips being based at the Illios Hotel which is very good. This year we would have been really splashing out high above the bay and with three additional family members--but of course we have now put this off until next June. Your memories whilst not quite being an adequate substitution are very genuine and well made. You should do it professionally !!
Lovely vlog! 😍 miss the greek vibes
Thank you so much. Yes, I miss Greece terribly!
Love you Simon xx
Great video!
Thank you Cody!
Hi Simon, After seeing your 2018 video of Lakka we visited in '19. We determined to revisit one day & so we've booked for June 2023 (tip...its a great price at Bastas Complex via Olympic Holidays), this year though its Parga in June. Have you visited other Greek gems since Paxos?
Missed your comment Martin, so very late sorry. I've done two on Paxos, the latest is 2019. Like you, my next holiday will be in summer '23. I do like the look of Spetses I must admit, that may be my next one. Best wishes, Simon
Hey I live in paxos my dad and mom own a snack bar on the see front it's cold harbour lights also arrive closed this winter because of some problems with the owner
Hey Alfie! I'm envious of you living in that beautiful place and hope to come back soon. Stay safe. Simon
Watching again Simon!
We are going back end of June.
Should we stay Lakka or laggos?
Xxx
Hiya! Ok, so Loggos is lovely, but seafront is quite a bit smaller than Lakka. If you like to bathe, Lakka definitely better. I'd choose Lakka personally, still lovely and unspoilt but Loggos just a bit too tiny for me. If you choose Lakka u can really easily get to Loggos on bus for day trip for 2 Euros. If u choose Lakka look at places I highlighted below to eat and drink, you won't be disappointed. Have a great holiday!
Simon. Thank you for both of your wonderful Lakka videos. My partner and I have been considering a Paxos stay for a couple of years now ever since briefly visiting Gaios as part of a day trip. After seeing your two videos, we decided on a stay in Lakka for the first half of a duel resort holiday, along with somewhere in Corfu.
I see you posted this in September last year, we will be there in September this year. What's the atmosphere like there late season, are there still plenty of people around?
Hello folks, firstly thanks very much for your kind comments. As you may gather I adore Paxos, and particularly Lakka. So, regarding your holiday, I think you've made a great choice. Gaios is also lovely, but much more a small town, Lakka is described as a town, but is really a village as we'd think of one. I like a daily swim, and there are two beaches in Lakka (pebbles) within a very short walk - as in the video. In Gaios (as far as I Know) beach access is not so easy.
So, the first video was shot in June 2018, the second in September 2019. I had planned to go back in June again, but had to have a minor operation so had to delay.
I would say that there is quite a difference, yes. I'm not saying it's empty in September, but it's not quite as populated. I noticed this particularly in the afternoons - most of the local folk have a 'siesta' in the afternoon, us daft Brits wander round in the full sun, ha ha. So I noticed less people around in the afternoon.
Don't get me wrong - it's by no means empty ... and I know you'll have a wonderful holiday. Simon
@@simonguettier thank you. I'll be there with my partner mid September. Looking forward to it.
do you know anything about makratika? is it a good place to stay in paxos?
Sorry for late reply Megan only just been aware of your comments. As I'm sure you know Makratika is inland in Paxos, and not much there really. It depends on what sort of holiday you want, but it's quite out of the way so perhaps car hire would be good if you want to explore.
