Bowie's vocals were recorded live with three mics, one right up in front of him, one farther away, and one quite far away. The mics were gated so that they would become active when he was singing loud enough to trigger them. So, you're getting not only a change in his vocal tone but also a change in the sound of his voice in the room. Producer Tony Visconti was as important a collaborator as Bowie ever had; it's no wonder that he also was Bowie's last producer, on _Blackstar_ .
Sweet! And the album cut too! "Heroes" is one of those songs that masters the slow burn, stretching out one chord across multiple bars, briefly shifting down for a bar, then up, then bearing down in the turnaround into the chorus. The shimmering really shines through on the studio version of this one.
Two lovers at the Berlin wall when it separated East and West Germany when the East was Communist and the lovers were at the wall. Check out the live version.
Seeing you are on a roll Tre what about doing the whole album? If you want funk please go to the last track - Secret Life of Arabia. I do not believe you have reviewed that ☺️

David performed "Golden Years" and "Fame" on Soul Train back in 1975; classic.

Bowie wall of sound right there. One of my favorites. I can still sing some of the German version in my head. 😉🤩
Classic Bowie
Listening to Bowie over 20 years now and I've never ever heard that second verse 🤣🤣🤣
