My favorites are walnuts they calm me down I do eat about a close to a half a cup. I also add sea salt and mix it with a little of grass fed ghee. It’s the unsalted raw walnuts that i buy.I love the way it taste with these combinations!!
I rarely have nuts on hand because I lose self control and eat too many of them. I do allow peanut butter and once in a while buy peanuts or Macadamia nuts. Good to know walnuts are a good choice too. Like any good thing you can over do it. One thing I know is after you get fat adapted you crave fats not sugar or other carbs. When I am hunger now I do not think of donuts but celery sticks with natural peanut butter or homemade ranch dressing on them. I am in my sixties but my body has learned keto very fast.
Best health channel by far on youtube! Thank you alot for all this information! I wanted to ask you: how healthy is to eat a whole cup of sour cream every day or every 2nd day? Can i mix it with cucumbers or tomatoes or cabbage? Thank you!
Thank you Synapse. Yes to all. The only concern would be if you have a dairy intolerance. I mix cucumber, sourcream garlic, salt and pepper a few times a week for an awesome tzaziki
I've watched videos where they discuss peanuts, and how the peanut quickly absorbs the pesticides, fertilizers and any other element in the soil making them relatively unhealthy in that aspect. Pistachios also are rife with molds and fungus on them, even packaged roasted ones. I would snack on cashews and pistachios early on in keto and noticed zero improvements. The keto only really kicked, where I would see weight loss, in after I shifted away from peanuts, cashews, almonds and pistachios. It's fascinating, the Omega 6 versus Omega 3 discussion. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Peanuts are a legume though plus they are extremely inflammatory. Especially for anyone with an autoimmune condition they cause flares even the organic ones. Plant proteins, lectins, are a concern and should be avoided for good gut health and reducing systemic inflammation.
Didn't realize cashews had so many carbs in them, makes sense to me because my palate is extremely sensitive to sweetness. I definitely can taste the sweetness the cashews have don't know why I assumed the carb levels would be much more keto friendly. Thanks brother
Dr. Ekberg thank you for your detailed, clear and very informative video. I often consume Brazil nuts due to their extremely high selenium content which is supposed to be good for the prostate. I find that if you soak Brazil nuts over night in cold water they are easier to digest and I presume must be healthier. Also please note many nuts are contaminated with aflatoxins! So we should make sure they are properly sourced.
You are probably sprouting them a little by soaking, and that usually does make things more digestible. Some manufacturers do provide sprouted nuts and seeds. They don’t look like other leafy sprouts, nothing coming out of them.
Aflatoxins are not a big problem in the US. Peanuts and others are tested for it. It was a big problem someplace in Africa some years ago and people got more worried about US peanuts than needed. But as you say, know the source.

Would you say that it is safe to eat 100-200g of macadamia every day to build muscle? It would be additional to a keto diet with meat, eggs, some diary, avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, veggies, enough omega 3 and all the good stuff.
I am eating 200 grams of nuts/seeds per day, mostly walnuts, with a balance of pistachios, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds. I don't have a weight problem and don't have any digestive, intolerance, or allergies. Is it OK to eat 200 grams of walnuts per day? According to several sources on the internet, 100 g hazelnuts contain only 8g omega 6. I avoid eating walnuts because of the huge content of omega 6 but I eat a lot of hazelnuts.
In german different sources I have found 6g to 7g of omega 6. Maybe american hazelnuts are different from european.
Thanks Dr Ekberg. I never heard the term "drupes" before. I knew about cashews, but was surprised pistachios were low on the list. I love nuts, too much, so only eat occasionally. Very interesting.
Thank you Kimcol D.

Hello sir is chickpea flour keto friendly or atleast to be considered low carbs?...
Doc all your videos give me so much knowledge on my fav foods. Thanks so much
Another great video, can u expand on this list showing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc? Thanks
I eat about 30g of mixed nuts daily- cashews, almonds, pistachio, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts. So it balances out somewhere I guess
I’ve noticed that many nuts are roasted in vegetable oil. Would you recommend avoiding them because of the oil?
Just recently followed your channel and not sure if you have an updated list but you forgot about pili nuts. Low carb, high fat, higher than macadamia I believe, and has the perfect ratio of omega 3 and omega 6. Really delicious too.
Dr Ekberg, your videos are extremely very interesting to me. As always, Im following you. Dan xx
Could you please do a video on nut flours, like almond flour coconut flour? I love baking and really want to eat "baked goods" while on a keto/very low carb diet, but am hesitant to.
Great and really useful info! Thx a lot! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Just what I needed answered all my questions about nuts.
Thank you its1me1cal. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it.
