I was really surprised a few years ago that Max Factor was actually named Maksymilian Faktorowicz a really talented Polish Jew ❤️. As a Polish girl I hope that such important iconic brand will survive as our nation survived during WW2.

I grew up in Burbank, CA and once I could drive, I’d go exploring in nearby Hollywood. (Late 80’s, early 90’s) The Max Factor museum was on Highland Ave, right near Hollywood Blvd. I took the tour, and was fascinated by what I learned. He was instrumental in color theory, at least with the idea that if you were a blonde, painting your bathroom a light pink would be the most appropriate and beautiful to your complexion and hair. Redheads would use a light green, brunettes a light blue. My grandmother was a huge fan of his, so she had her added-on bathroom done in that soft, light pink. (she was blonde) I remember using both the Pan-Stik, and Pan-Cake from MF when I was younger. Pan-Stik was thick and waxy, but moisturizing. Pan-Cake you had to use water to use it, and it covered EVERYTHING. Yes, it was obvious you were wearing makeup, but I think it benefited those in the theater and movies more. Yes, it was called color harmony! My grandmother had that same booklet!

I think in the late 90s maxfactor was sold to a European cosmetic company which is why you can buy it Europe. Also, in parts of Asia they import M.F. cosmetics over there. Maxfactor was a great brand and had the best foundation and mascaras. In Arabia, they have maxfactor too but only in certain Arab countries. I think Joelle Mardinian is a huge spokesperson for them in Dubai

So Coty owns Max Factor, Covergirl, Bourjois and Rimmel. I am wondering if they pulled Max Factor out of the US and Canada because it is less competition for Covergirl. Rimmel has a much larger offering in Europe. I have always liked Bourjois and Rimmel better than Covergirl but Covergirl has come a long way. I noticed that Max Factor and Covergirl’s new releases seem similar.

Max Factor lip gloss in the gold tube is/was the best. It was healing as well for dry lips. Love their mascara and lipsticks, eyeshadows and perfume. They use to have a water based foundation that was really good, but it was discontinued. So I used Elizabeth Arden for sensitive skin it was excellent for oily skin.

"Pan-stick" formulations are lovely; I've been using a pan-stick-type blush from Flower Beauty and I'm using a leftover pan-stick-type foundation from Clinique, which has discontinued it, though other makers have brought out similar items. They are easy to use and handy for the purse.

It was actually the best i had used in the early 2000's - around 2010. I used the pale porcelain shade but now they've changed the shades here in Australia so i use it cosmetics cc cream now. Plus it's cruelty free.

Hello - In around 1985-87 Max Factor make-up was to be found in supermarkets. This Helena Rubinstein would never have allowed. The range was subsequently limited to mainly foundations. The fragrances such as Hypnotique, Electrique, Primitif, Golden Woods, Green Apple, Rapport, Maxi, etc all faded from the scene but are sought after today, even by men, as the top-notes have faded while the middle and base notes are suitable for use. Thank you.
