just asking is it possible if you use an external ldo regulator to that pin and it would start working if all other internal circuit of IC is just Fine.
The chip communicates with main board and must work, otherwise laptop can't see the battery. Suppying LDO voltage will not help. Quite often LDO voltage isn't even used. It's just a function of the chip but LDO output current is only very low 40mA max (check datasheet) so it can't really do much. LDO is just useful to check to see if the chip is alive or not.
@@lucianofz788 According to the official website at least older batteries up to last year should work. The Multimeter he’s using has software for the pc to display it on his screen. Then he uses OBS to grab the application so you can see it. There are a few brands that sell a Bench Multimeter with data link. A decent budget one you can buy is made by Owon (XDM) models or a higher end brand would be Siglent. There are a few handheld multimeters that have the pc link too. I think one super cheap one is called the BTMETER BT-90 & the 90-EPD. These 2 are super budget but good for learning how to use it with a pc.
You know.. i quite dislike Sorin's habit of not replacing capacitors. That capacitor he removed at around 12:25 looked to have a VIA right next to it, and it stands to reason for a capacitor to fail, it must have had current. And if that current cannot pass without the cap, that might hinder the operation of the board and thus the chip. After all, meany producers use caps as a makeshift signal filter and/or fuse. And unless there are multiple cap's in paralell then testing without replacing semes odd to me. Altso, bending the bord to remove said cap, wont even sit straight after. Could quite possibly crack solder joints. But who know's, maybe its just my OCD that is suffering.
I came away thinking exactly the same, and wondered if anyone else had questioned this probability! Well spotted! I'm surprised he continues to treat bad caps this way considering the fact he is very compitent. I still enjoy watching and learning. Just not enjoying his bad habits!

Did you check reset pin on bq?
Hello Sorin, it’s so frustrating not to be able to repair it! This is what's happening to me now! 😢
Do i really need to have a power supply to ask a repair question on your forum? all i have is a multimeter and soldering iron right now.
Yes and Rigol DHO4000 😜
You don't need any thing to ask your questions but will need at least something for diagnosis! Yes, you have that something too!😀
instructive video !
but... such a pity the "battery was like new" ;)

It may depend on the case
Is it a trick of the camera or are the two cells on the right of the battery already starting to puff up anyhow?
I thought the same. Spicy pillows incoming! :)
Yes i think you are rigth Paul, looking better It seems to puff up..
No! Sorin is defeated.
Very Nice! 😎

try with the oscilloscope to see if there is any activity to data pins
He already checked clock and data pins, zero volts. That means no activity.
@Sorin, in the last attempt you were testing pin #9, not #8.
