    I have purchased this set in tubes instead of pans, and I can tell you there is a difference in quality. It is a very noticeable difference. There is more ox gall in the tubes which increases the flow of the paint when painting wet in wet. Also I think they are even more vibrant. I have also noticed increased granulation in the French ultramarine. For the price of that set it absolutely can’t be beaten in my opinion. However it does not include a pallet.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 года назад +3

      Wow, thanks for the info. The tube sets Available here in my country is not too expensive as well, so now I think I'm more interested to trying it out now..hmmm. may I know which tube set you got? And I really love granulating colors especially Ultramarine!☺️

      Sure I got the 24 tube set of 8ml tubes in the original colors. I believe they have a similar set available with floral colors. I don’t do a lot of floral painting, so I chose to start with their basic set.

    Very nice! I really like Paul Rubens. I don't have this set but a lot of people like this set. I have the metallic set. I really like their 100% cotton, 300gsm watercolor paper too but Arches is still my top favorite.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 года назад +10

      I will be having a lightfastness rating of all the brands I hold once I'm done reviewing all my sets. I'm Soo excited to do that but for sure it's gonna take time for swatching and of course waiting time for sun exposure. How was the metallic set? I'm am curious about their paper too. I'm hearing great things about it, including you.

    • @ArtistWizardry

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  3 года назад +1

      @Jasmine Shelby I'm still not sure what to really follow . I get your point about testing on normal room lighting as how we display our paints, but i dont have enough wall space for all of my 60+ sets of paints to test.. wall space that atleast gets enough and equal light to be credible.. when i was configuring this out, i realized doing my own test is not easy. Ive watched and read about how companies and astm advice home tests, and it suggests exposing painted paper under direft sunlight with glass. It is not normal condition, but an extreme condition, probably to compute and estimate the strength of paints under expreme conditions. This is also the principle of large companies in using their machjnes for lightfastness.

      Hi Renea! I'm really curious about the pretty excellent. ☺️ Your nieces are so lucky. ☺️
      Oh, I saw your FB post before this and I must say that pb36 of white nights and DS are really very comparable. I actually prefer Pb36 over pb35 because it's more intense and is cooler. It's my 2nd favorite blue next to pb29. ☺️ White nights I believe is one of if not the most affordable artist grade watercolor paints I've seen, so far. INTENSITY is how much
    you pick up from the pans.
    If you used tubes, you will get the intensity.
    this is for all types of watercolours. Its a common mistake.
    Availability is a big issue, especially when buying Rubens tubes.
    I am about giving up on their 18mls...

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  3 года назад

      Yeah i know. Ofcourse you'll easily get more paint from tubes as theyre not dry. Tubes are most of the time a better option, economy and efficiency wise. INTENSITY though isn't always the case for weather one uses tubes or pans. There are many factors. Some brands have different formulas for their tube paints and for their pans. In the case of Sennelier, both pans and tubes offer the same intensity. In some colors of Daniel Smith, some colors are hard to to activate in pans like viridian, causing less intense paints. I agree, Paul Rubens Tubes are hard to find. But i heard from many artists that their tubes are alot 'better' than the pans.

      yes this will still help with regards to some aspects like packaging, quality of paints, etc. but I believe the 48 includes some glittery colors.. you may want to checkout 48color reviews out there to be sure.

      I have some of the tubes and I actually use some of them as staple colors in my palette.

    Paul rubens, sonnet, pretty excellent.. can u pls rank this po? Alin po Mas better sa tatlo? thank you po! :))

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  3 года назад +1

      In my later comparison portions ng reviews, medyo naka rank na sila.. paul Rubens considers themselves as artist grade. Pigment codes are ok, and they have the expensive cobalts and cadmiums, so that may be a proof na artist grade nga tlaga (kasi mahal ang pigments na yan, at di ginagamit sa student grades usually). Between sonnet and pretty e., Alin ang ang bigay ng Pigment info? Sonnet lang. So, matik, sila ang 2nd. Parte ng pagka serious ng company yung pag provide ng complete info.

    hi is it lightfast?

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  3 года назад +1

      They are claiming that theyre artist grade but it's no guarantee of lightfastness. It is more on the pigments used in each color. Each color here has different pigments and each has different lightfastness ratings. The sure lightfast colors here are the PB29, PB28, PBr7, PV19, the real cadmiums and the black. To check lightfatness of the pigments, you may consult handprint.com it is where each pigment is described technically. ☺️🙏

    PLSSS REVIEW THE SCHIMNCKE WATERCOLOR

    Are you going to sell the 24 color set on your Shoppee account? :)

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 года назад

      I have sold 2 sets of Paul Rubens before. My stocks are out unfortunately. But in the description box above, I've placed of a shopee seller who sells this set. Unless, you want some other brands..

    • @Aisha-os9pt
      @Aisha-os9pt 4 года назад +1

      @@AllanJayQuesada Would you recommend these over Van Gogh 12+3 set? Unfortunately, the only Paul Rubens I can find on Shoppee is the 12 half pan set at around the same price as the Van Gogh ones.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 года назад +1

      @@Aisha-os9pt honestly, I feel that they are on same level (Paul r. And v.gogh)
      But if you compare the 2 sets, the p.r. 12colors vs the v.g. 12+15, the VanGogh gives you a better range of colors. The p.rubens 12color set only has 1 blue (ultra marine if I'm not mistaken. It doesn't have a cool blue, and only has a Payne's gray instead. It's not a balanced set. Not because I sell the v.gogh, I'm voting for it, no. But if you check the color selection of vgogh, it's very balanced.

    • @Aisha-os9pt
      @Aisha-os9pt 4 года назад +1

      @@AllanJayQuesada Thank you for the honest reply! I have been looking into both. As a beginner, I feel like I should get Van Gogh as it is student grade but a lot of artist tend to say it is of a really nice set, even compared to the Cotmans.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 года назад +1

      @@Aisha-os9pt yes, it's a student grade, but doesn't mean that it's only for beginners, as well as artist grade paints should only for professionals.. it depends on lots of consideration. VanGogh pans vs Cotman pans. I'll go for VanGogh pans. If you want cotman, get their tubes, but don't put them in pans. They get hard.
