@@PS3Cooooooool The GT2RS MR isn't a stock car, people! And any advantage a stock GT2RS may have over a McLaren 720s Track Pack (which I doubt any), is likely caused by the sticker tires it is wearing.
The MR is not a stock car. So the standard gt2 would be a more fair comparison. And even that has the better tires. Plus the 720s is a more road-focused car. (That's why it doesn't have any exteme aero and still uses corsa's for wet performance). I bet the LT will have Trofeo R's.

On much stickier tyres to be fair, I don't think the tyre is making all the difference but a good chunk of it certainly. Also it is the Manthey version, probably fairer to compare a standard GT2RS
@@nurburgjo whilst the 911s time is indeed amazing, one must not forget it has racing car suspension (manthey racing) and the stickiest tyres you can fit to a road car (cup 2 r) which are also considerably WIDER than the 720s tyres (245/305 - 265/325). Im not saying a 720s would be faster wiuth the same tyres, im saying it would be a lot closer than the 5 seconds laughing boy seems to point out.
If this was on scrubbed standard tyres, the GT2 RS has no chance, even the GT2 RS Manthey version (heavily modified) with new slicks might lose in a fair comparison.
A 1:54.751 for this versus a 1:49.53 for 911 GT2 RS MR, both with Chris driving. Which had done "40,000 km" when Chris drove it on the same trip. I am amazed that this is so much slower. Honestly, I expected it to be a tiny bit slower, maybe half a second, but not that much slower. OK. I get that this is obviously much better as an actual road car, and that Chris so passionately loves it, but that is a lot slower. Also, the comment about the build quality shocked me. Not because Chris said it, the reason why I so enjoy his videos is his honesty, but that it is just that bad. I wonder what one of these, that hasn't been thrashed round a track, but just driven normally will look like after 40,000 km? I can't wait to see the rest of the videos from this trip! Thanks Chris and Neil, and Top Gear too! #ProperMotoringJournalism
This lap time talk is clearly one sided. We need the time of a stock GT2 with similar light weight features to compare. Both need to be on similar tires also. Even against the MR pack 720S is likely faster in all straits. It's the corners where GT2 is leaving 720S. Track length is almost 3 miles. Both stock cars have been compared on GP track before with distance being similar to one in video. The GT2 wasn't one it's R tires in this test. Results had 720S almost a full sec faster over GT2. The track name is Hockenheim GP. Build quality was pointed out on P1 I don't see the big deal. Like P1, 720S is probably a test mule with new parts thrown together. If one wants a better build this is where MSO comes in to play.
I had to go back to the Manthey Racing video to check if it was the same race track and check the lap times; would be nice to have a lap time board with all the cars Chris drives on the same race track. Also, I'd like to see Chris race the Stig! Chris's victory would make it the definitive lap time board. And the new Top gear should be Chris, the funny guy from friends and Jay Leno. Who agrees?

Thank you for that reply. I was wondering what the issues were although I'm not in a position to get the 720S. I could potentially get a 570GT or 540C.
@@Harpreet06 , I've got the 600LT and it's been fine so far, service can be expensive though. As far as quality goes it's up there with Ferrari and Lamborghini in my opinion. If you're interested in a McLaren i would talk to the guys at your nearest McLaren dealer first, reason being that you need to find a model that suits you, that you can cope with and that you can afford to get serviced.
Great advice! Thank you!
5 seconds behind the pace of the 911 GT2 RS MR...I wonder what it would do on a set of MPSC2R's...
probably a 2 - 3 seconds improvement, but hard to imagine it can beat the GT2 there
@@PS3Cooooooool
The GT2RS MR isn't a stock car, people!
You Porsche fucks don't know how to compare cars🤦🏽♂️
@@TheTmat007 Have warranty that is different at any other tuning house, if Porsche buy MR and sell like the "Porsche GT2 RS-X" for example wouldn't it be a stock car?
You make these slides look so effortless and easy on these midengine supercars with bigger tires than drift cars.
Great Chris, you are so goooood. This is the reason you are not at Monza to race with the Aston at Garage59
Chris puts the Tiff back in top notch driving. I’d love a Tiff, Chris and Henry channel.
I don't know if you can afford a car like this one but your opinion always sounds honest and that approach makes me understand what means to own a dream car and puts my foot on the floor. Passion and honesty have no limits. Whish you the best and keep messing up, please!!!
does anyone knows the name of the song used in outro of this video?
The GT2 RS MR should not be compared to production cars, it’s modified🤦🏻♂️.... if we’re moving the yard stick, imagine what a tweaked Senna or SVJ would be like....
Still with Porsche Warranty...
About to trade in my ‘92 Camry for one of these.
You should keep the Camry in case you ever need to actually arrive at your destination. McLaren reliability is..... bad.
@@stevenkelby2169 I think the joke was trading in a 250$ car for a 250,000$ one.
Steven Kelby You do realize that McLaren literally has the best reliability in the supercar industry, right?
@@TechWiz1983 *citation required... Did you watch the video? Direct quote from the world's most respected motoring journalist: "The worst build quality in the world."
Steven Kelby I suggest you do some research on actual facts. Build quality on a particular model and reliability are NOT the same thing.
i’m happy to see more of chris harris drives.. thank you top gear
Chris Harris ! You, Sir.... are a legend !
This man just always talks Sense!
Only the laptime could use some context
But does it catch fire tho
Even if it doesn't, you'll always be wondering...
Those turbo noises.. Outrageous.. Gone are the days when people said mclarens were too serious and only better in numerical terms
Am I watching this on 1.5 speed?
Kev No.
It’s on 2x
Whisper it quietly the GT2 RS Manthey was 5 seconds quicker around the same circuit...
On much stickier tyres to be fair, I don't think the tyre is making all the difference but a good chunk of it certainly. Also it is the Manthey version, probably fairer to compare a standard GT2RS
John M Chris also said that 1:49.5 was on an out lap on scrubbed tyres 😳
@Philip Amos Best car in class /worst build quality in the world. Depends on your priorities I guess.

Chris Harris’ content is absolutely fantastic
I had to go back to the Manthey Racing video to check if it was the same race track and check the lap times; would be nice to have a lap time board with all the cars Chris drives on the same race track. Also, I'd like to see Chris race the Stig! Chris's victory would make it the definitive lap time board. And the new Top gear should be Chris, the funny guy from friends and Jay Leno. Who agrees?
Amazing cris !! Brutally honest in opinion & precise to the point. Superb
Chris did 154.7 in the p1. Mega lap from the 720 track pack.
Senna: GRIPPY BOI
720s:MUCH BETTER LOOKING GRIPPY BOI
True
My advice.. buy a gt3 rs. Put some cup 2 R tires on it. Make the same laptimes, spare some money and depreciate a lot less! Excellent video Chris.
Porsche GT2 RS with those mods was 1:49.
Magic at 1.16 🙏
This is my favorite car video ever!
Damn, he booped the cameras snoot.
