The "Big Beef" (the large sized) is a huge beef sandwich which is $9.75 and will fill you up. Add peppers for $.75. The beef is outstanding. Get there early to avoid the lines. An outstanding lunch!
I grew up on Portillo’s and still live in Chicago. Where’s your slice of chocolate cake?? Try your beef dipped. Your sandwich looked too dry. Also, the chicken sandwich on the croissant is the way to go.
Living in the Chicagoland area and growing up eating Portillo’s, something seems off about your order. Not sure if that is what you preferred, but the cheeseburger you had has a brioche bun instead of the regular seeded bun they use. I’ve had both, and prefer the seeded bun and the brioche tastes better with chicken sandwiches. I’m just nit picking!
Maybe it was just a bad experience but I went last night and the fry’s weren’t seasoned or cooked well the beef dipped was a weird mush consistency and kinda turned me off of it . Maybe I won’t dip it next time . I did get cheese but the cheese isn’t anything special . The Chicago dog was very good tho .
I’ll tell you this as an experienced Chicagoan get it dry and ask for the gravy on the side. Dip it yourself! Perfect bites every time. The more you eat it the more you’ll want it to be dipped. Also no matter where I go eat u always tell them CRISPY FRIES.
Portillo's has one of the best drive thru systems that I've seen. They have multiple people taking orders. They also have a couple of people taking food to people no matter their place in the drive thru line. They take out orders as they are completed whether you're first in line, or last in line. Same with indoors, everyone stands at the window and they call your number as it's completed.
As somebody from Chicago you need to order your Italian beef with nacho cheese on it and extra dip
