A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I review also a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because from my experience not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to make in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which product you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I make my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

Yet another great video. Since getting my dowling jigs, I have made a 5mm drill holder from brass to slide into the 8mm bush. It is only half successful as the bushes are very hard and the brass soft. Now you have pointed out the 5mm bushs are available.
The edge trimmer looks very interesting, it is like my old wood Radi-Plane made in California. The only thing with my old plane is that they have two blades in tandem, one behind the other. The first takes a ruff cut, the second a finished cut. What I like about the plane you reviewed is the cutter and cutter setting. Looks very good.
    Bedankt.

Hi Dennis. Thanks for another excellent review. The doweling jig from your last review just arrived and the roundover plane is on its way. Looking back at 30 years being self employed as a cabinet maker its unbelievable with what kind of tools we had to make due. Those quality items were just out of reach at a budget. The only problem now is that we all overspend on really nice tools we might need once a year to play around with. I might have to start my own youtube channel now which will be called "Hooked on Dennis" offering help and support to people like myself spending way too much money on tools they might never need! Keep up the great work and we all can't wait for a video of your new shop!

I have two edge planes from Woodpeckers and I quickly realised that for consistent depth on different pieces some kind of scale is necessary. I ended up making a mark on the dial and the plane. Now I'm able to do deeper chamfers. Still it seems like this black one is a better tool.

Thanks Dennis, A great video again, I'm sorry to say i do have the woodpeckers version of this plane and it does work great, but i like the way you can change out the different blades so easily compared to woodpeckers plane. my plane is much more intense to change from the round over to a chamfer blade and with yours you don't need to you have the best of both worlds in one! the new lock system and the depth scale adjustment is a winner and the price do i need to say anymore .

Thanks Dennis. I am definitely a fan of Woodpeckers tools, but some of them are must haves while others are harder to justify. In this case, it looks like the Hongdui is a far superior product to them. It is much easier to change blades with and the ability to have two different blade types available in one plane body is a benefit. Also, I really like the ability to use off the shelf cutter blades. Thanks for the review...I had passed on the Woodpecker version, but this Hongdui corner plane looks compelling.

Hi Dennis, I just wanted to thank you for making this series. Beyond the excellent information and consumer advice, I think you are performing a larger service. My partner and her family are Chinese, and they face a huge amount of casual racism and negative stereotypes. In the woodworking community this exists too, with chinese made things having all kinds of negative connotations, despite the fact we use a huge number of techniques and tools that originated in chinese carpentry.
Thank you for giving these tools fair reviews, and showing that there are in fact numerous excellent tools being made there, with attention being given to detail and quality. Small things like this can gradually change people's views and prejudices.
    Thank you.

I just received my Woodpecker version (I also ordered extra blades with different profiles) and so far I really like it. However; changing blades is a bit of a faf. Great video Dennis - love your work!
Just by the way, with the long version of the dowelling jig, is the spacing between holes 32mm?

There are people here in the US that will say they would rather buy American but I’ll bet most American companies are having China make their products and then tack on a high price. Love your videos.

Hi Dennis, just to advise, the calipers you recommended, when following the link on your website advises the item is discontinued. Always informative and something I look forward to.

    Hi Dennis,
Based on your recommendation, I ordered this Hongdui CR-Multitrim chamfer plane from Bangood. It took months to arrived because of production delays and customs delays, but it finally arrived today and while I am very pleased with it, the Product Manual leaves a lot to be desired.
The Product Manual included with the plane mentions “a spare blade was tactfully hidden on the plane body” but there are no instructions as to how to access it. Without your video I would never have found it unless I stopped the plane down to its components. Furthermore, there are 3 large Allen machine screws and 2 small Allen machine screws on the face where the blade locking knob is and 2 small Torx machine screws on the opposite face of the tool, but there is no information about what all these screws do. Only from your video can I see that the 3 large Allen machine screws split the case, but I have no idea what the others do I am loathed to dismantle it in case I can’t get it back together again. In particular the 2 small Torx machine screw (for which the tool is provided) screwed in much further than how it was delivered, but since I have no idea what they do I don't know whether they should have been tightened down and just weren't from the manufacturer, or if they have some special role and must be set at a certain depth!
Most manufacturers provide full instructions as well as an exploded view of the product showing all its parts and how they fit together. It would be very helpful if Hongdui so that customers can use the tool in the way it is intended without guesswork.
    Regards, Steve

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. The two smaller screws are just spare screws for tighten the blades. So, one spare blade and two spare screws..

@@HookedonWood Hi Dennis, thanks. It would be a really good idea if they mentioned this in their manual. It would also be obvious if they provided an exploded diagram of all the parts. It’s one of the problems I’ve found with most Chinese tools. It doesn’t seem to matter how well made or expensive the tool is, the manual is always very limited and poor. I’ve mentioned it to Bangood who have said they will contact the manufacturer. Regards, Steve

Can you adjust the table saw miter gauge easily if it is not perpendicular to the table. The Incra version allows for adjustment. Thanks for a great series on China tools...
