BRØYT was a trademark for the company Brødrene Søyland A/S, later Brøyt A/S, which was founded as "Bryne Jern og Treindustri" in 1949 by the brothers Kristian Søyland and Ingebret Søyland.
The company produced various tools related to agriculture in the factory premises at Bryne på Jæren. The excavators were often simply called Brøyt or Brøyten.
In the summer of 1976, machine no. 5000 was sold.
At the turn of the year 1979/78, the Brøyt factory had 15,000 m2 under roof and 425 employees.
It all ended in 1999, after 48 years of producing ploughs.
By then, around 7,500 machines had been produced, and these had been sold to close to 50 countries.
