I want a professional Tekken player sitting next to a professional MMA fighter going trough the movesets of several characters. One gives the realistic aspect of the move, the other one explains when or how you could use the move in game
Uriah Hall literally used Tekken to learn MMA. He’s not the greatest or anything but knowing that you could potentially take things you saw in a video game and implement them to a real life fighting situation is cool as hell. Max Halloway takes things from the UFC fighting games and tries them out in his real life training too. Although that’s a bit different cause all the stuff in UFC games are all things that have been done in actual fights before and proven to work. Something’s just harder to do than others.
The Twister submission essentially is the same hold as the death cradle minus the rolling, and laying down instead of wrapping the opponent up while they stand. Also instead of stretching just the abdomen as it appears to do in Tekken, you also wrap your arm around the opponents head and twist it towards you so that their lower and upper body are twisting in opposite directions. It's an extremely rare technique that rarely ever sees real use in professional MMA; It's only been pulled off twice in sanctioned professional matches. The most notable example is when the Korean Zombie pulled it off in a UFC bout, as that was the first ever professional submission by Twister. The technique was created by Eddie Bravo under his 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.
4:26 The strongest position you can ever have is back mount with double hooks in. basically this position with paul turned around and hooking your legs between theirs so they cant get on their knees they call that "flattening them out" and its a wrap from there
Glad someone brought this up. The strongest position is taking someone's back. They have a harder time fighting you back since they can't see you as much as in front. And most submissions are easier done from the back.

Also I don't want to get into an argument about 5yo thai fighters, but there's a common misconception in their fighting... They don't fight like adults. The gloves they wear have a ton of cushion, they barely every attack to the face, they don't have power... It's all a "who's got the best skill and who dominates the ring" type of thing more than anything else. Of course brain damage is a thing, but you should know that most thai fighters stop fighting at their early-mid 20s and have no problems whatsoever. Compare that to MMA or Boxing, where you can eat a lot of shots to the face and some boxers have even died at their 20s because of hits to the back of the head. I'm not saying it's fine to put your children to fight, I would wait to see whether they really like it or not and value if they should when they are somewhere in their 16 years old, but what I'm saying is that Muay Thai has buddhistic roots and even when the style is so brutal, it's also highly defensive and safe, and thais tend to respect their opponents. If we did that here we would hurt each other.

A problem about MMA is that the coaches and fighters selectively chooses the supposedly optimal options in boxing or fighting stances . Options like flicker stance, sway, Dempsey roll, etc... aren't useful in MMA because of boxing innovation and versatility in MMA. An MMA fighter is not likely (still could) to know about old boxing strategies that were useful at the time but later obsolete due to risk and safety of the user. Nonetheless this guy is pretty knowledgble about boxing but it would be nice to see an expert in each respective martial arts rather than have an MMA fighter covering all arts.
