While Nintendo does like limited time things, they usually announce them ahead of time. F-Zero 99 hasn't had a limited date announced so it might have a good shot of lasting for a long while. After all, Splatoon 1's Wii U servers are still up.
I got second in a Grand Prix and that felt pretty satisfying to me at least. Way better than blowing up at the finish line. Or dying in the first lap on Silence because you took the turn too tight and fell off the edge after hitting the ramp.
The Skyway is a really clever mechanic. Being back further means you have more chances to collect sparks, so it makes it almost impossible to get in first and stay there
The latter is also compounded by the fact that Red Bumpers tend to be deployed in front of the leader, and between them crowding the track and going off at the slightest bump, it takes some serious skill to hold the lead. (Fire Stingray seems best at it with high top speed and cornering.)
Oh you can get in first and stay there, it just means you need to either have burnt a lot of Boost energy or need to deal with increasing amounts of traffic drones on further laps.
@@Blunette5194Getting close to the front using a bunch of boost, then KOing someone who burnt too much trying to get ahead to refill it is a surefire way to get a solid frontrun. You still have to contend with bomb bumpers, but it certainly solves the biggest downside of frontrunning. Not to say this is a strategy I've been able to pull off, I don't exactly have the best eye for burnt out vehicles :P
I'm blown away at how well designed this game is, it feels more thought out than some of the mainline mario karts...if Nintendo kills it in a few months I'll be so sad :(

Assumingly based on the graphics, the tiebreaker is who was highest in points going in. So with you being the points leader going in to the final race, you were the true technical first place overall.

This is probably old news for you, but in Port Town 2 you can pass trough the zigzag part just going foward, you will at max have a scratch in the paint if you are not right at the middle (and is a good place to spin any "bumper" coming behind you). This is also the same right before the finish line, that weird "square" curve can be just be passed going straight trough the middle.
I can already tell your handling got WAYY better than last time. Can't wait til theres actual pros in this game who just never bump into anything. This game rocks. Make it a series 🔥

If anyone is wondering about the red grey and blue cars, the game refers to them as “bumpers”. The red ones explode on impact or after some time, grey ones bump you (go figure) but will also give you more energy and max energy when killed (not a full refill like killing a player gives), finally the blue ones are “lucky bumpers” and are controlled by KO’d players! The blue ones are therefore the most dangerous and least predictable
This game is all I think about! I typically go Golden Fox for the recovery to play a but more aggro, but I see Goose's durability doesn't let you down. In the right hands, I can see it being the only ones that survive. LOVE this content, Ryu!
Holy cow lol. In all my years of being an F-Zero pilot, or even an ex-F-Zero pilot, I've never seen a three-way tie for gold haha. My how things have changed! o.O
Some people become excellent at a game through pure perseverance. Others just simply have natural talent. The fact that Ryukahr can pick up any game and - within a short time - become exceptional proves that he has both. Great video as always, bud!
Watching you play this, again, was a lot of fun! Racing games aren't a place where I want realism, and so F-Zero series has been my favorite racing franchise since the 90s. I like F-Zero X a lot, but the original is still great, and this is so nostalgic! The tracks are different, but that's still Death Wind,and with the same classic music from way back when. It's different enough that it doesn't just feel like you are playing a 33-year old game, but it still feels like you are playing F-Zero! 😊 The Wild Goose was also my typical machine pick, way back, so it's nice to see you favor Pico's ride, today, instead of the Stingray. Hope you keep playing, and posting, videos of this, and that it keeps an active crowd, at least for a while.
I was also in the last Mini Prix (got 5th place overall (DEATH)) and I didn't even noticed the threeway tie at the end lol😅... also, what a coincidence, that I watched this video now without knowing your channel before😁
You should figure out the best spots to get on the skyway to best capitalize on it. Like since you struggle with the magnets in Port Town II you should save up your skyway for that section
For the first track, don't take the zigzag. Just take the fast turn each time even if you go across the dirt. It lands you in a higher starting position.

I had one race where I managed to qualify at the very end because literally enough people got crashed out to bring the total number of ranks remaining above the rank-out limit. So I was like 81st and 3 people crashed bringing me up to 79th RIGHT AS THE CARRIER WAS COMING TO GRAB ME. Also they didn't have the Switch Lite in mind for this game... man my thumb hurts.
At 4:05 there's a guy called Lucas. I'm pretty sure that's me as I drive a red 'blue falcon' and suck at doing turns on the sand map. Actually wait it can't be me as that Lucas has a white/red 'blue falcon', not a red 'blue falcon'.

Here's a tip: You recover spin attack by jumping up ramps. So go ahead and spin attack people before hitting a ramp!
