It's like Dr. Stewart's ride is made out of glass candy; it's sweet, but shatters into debris in a stiff breeze. It was hilarious to watch the Fox's health fully recharge in the pits, and then vaporize in the collisions! I'm glad to get to see the Queen tracks in the new game, with all the high-impact joy this game provides. Also feel nostalgic for old F-Zero. 😊 Glad they basically ported the tracks, and music, instead of just throwing in all new stuff, and using the names to imply inspiration. A blast to watch!
What made Trombone Champ blew up when it came out was the custom maps (songs) that people made. Hearing your favourite songs in a silly trombone is the charm because it's hilarious. That said, looking forward to more Trombone Champ!👀
All 15 tracks from the original are already in the game. Just not available yet. It seems they have plans to add the tracks from the Ace League as well.
No.. thats not what it shows. It shows that people have nostalgia for old games and it shows that simplicity makes for fun multiplayer. A new F-Zero Game would just be another random racing game.
I don't know how much I'm talking to "very far past Ryu" or "fairly recent Ryu", but those butt-plants after coming off of a jump take a chunk out of your speed. You can avoid them by pulling down on the d-pad (or stick?), if they translated that mechanic from the SNES to 99. You'll get a soft landing that retains all you at your normal max speed.
I noticed during my playing that your rival's places are displayed at the beginning of each new lap. I was screaming when I saw Jojo at 42 going into lap 4 :)
Big fan of Red Canyon. Might be the most fun track yet. Definitely some challenging turns here. Mute City 2 is a drastic improvement over 1. So far I've not seen 1 get put up against 2 in the vote, I hope that means they occupy the same random selection slot and just sort of rotate amongst themselves. Port Town 1 is alright for a regular 99 race selection track. Still fairly challenging. About Sand Ocean level. White Land 2 is brutal for low-acceleration machines like the Stingray. You have to drop speed so much to take the sharp turns well, and almost forced damage makes the energy management rough. Good thing you'll never race this one with more than 20 people, I suppose. Death Wind 2 looks relatively simple, given how nearly braindead 1 is. But 2 absolutely isn't. Those corners in tandem with the wind are evil. Absolutely deserved for the Pro Tracks selection. ...I am... afraid... of what Fire Field will be like.
Fire Field has lots of sharp corners and heal/repair area is located at the backside of goal line instead of usual front like most of tracks do, so you can't get careless with the HP/energy in that track & have to be extra careful. I remember trying that track in SNES ver. when I was young & it was atrociously brutal from my experience.
@@Sol-Kage Considering Fire Field is the last track of King League, it'll only have 20 players on it. With that in mind (unless they wanna future proof it for 99 racers just in case), they don't particularly need to adjust it to player count, aside from maybe widening the track slightly. ...If we ever get 99 racers on Fire Field, though, that's going to be a massacre.
@@Sol-Kage that too. You have to maintain much HP as you can to keep the lead using fast route, otherwise you'll lose much distance trying to heal when choosing heal area due to poor HP maintenance from bumping too much(or accelerations).
You can reduce the distance of your jump off of ramps by pushing up to tilt your machine downward. Just tilt it back skyward before you land, because you lose speed if you don't land properly. That way you can do those jumps at the start at max speed and still not miss any jumps or drop speed.
Ryu I will be 100% honest with you. I got tired of SSM... I'm watching mostly this channel, i'd be very happy if you did F-Zero 99 content regularly, even if a video every 3 days or so. No pressure or anything. Never got tired of YOU, never will. Great video! 👍
A thing I would like they add is that, you could be able to play with some friends, aleast four of them, in the same competition, the down side, they are the firsts rivals that you need to take down to obtain more points
So the tracks looking similar is because in F-Zero some of the tracks worked similar to how real racetracks do and had different layouts they could change up depending on the league. You could actually see this in port town, death wind, and red canyon in the SNES version where there were segments of track you could see but were cut off. I’m a bit bummed they didn’t have that in 99 but I assume it was to prevent confusion.
that no one notices in game, hence why you noticed it now. so not good at all. ramming (f zero x, where the spin comes from)would have been a choice that rewards good playing this is more on the lottery side of things
The 1 and 2 versions are similar because in the SNES version they were the same raceways with the barriers moved, so you go past/over parts of Port Town II in Port Town I
More machines would be really nice for this game, but I'm not so sure about the tracks... There may be valid workarounds, but most of the tracks in those 2 kinda rely on making a lot more use of the 3rd dimension than jump pads and flattening them out might feel like a serious downgrade to some people
I assume they'd do BS content first, since BS was on the same engine and console, but was super limited Japan-only stuff. I mean there's no nostalgia there but this game needs more tracks.
@@JoelTheOne Flat tracks would be a bummer, but you could cherry pick a cup worth of tracks that are less reliable on the y-axis. Totally agree with you, but I still hope, they would find a work around on this problem.

Sorta hoping we get a few new machines in the future. Like yeah F-Zero SNES only had the four machines, but I can't imagine it would be particularly difficult to make SNES era sprites for some of the F-Zero X racers
The GBA games have lots of machines too, especially GP Legend and Climax. I think actually most of the X and GX drivers/machines. These are already 16 (or I guess 32?)-bit, so the design shouldn't be much of a problem. Implementation may be a bit more complicated since 99 is in full 3D and there are more (fluent) animations for each glider etc., but still not too big of a deal.

I'm _somewhat_ confident that this question wasn't asked in search of a genuine answer, but this is youtube and this is engagement. :P Golden Fox has the lowest top speed AND its track boosts wear off faster. There's a significant difference in top speed between it and even the Blue Falcon. Boost pads basically set your racer's speed at the maximum for the game, and the Fox just doesn't have the mass to cut through the drag like others do. For my money, Golden Fox and Blue Falcon occupy the same 'role' as racers, just as the Goose and Stingray occupy a different role, and I think the Falcon is better than the Fox as a high-acceleration low-top-speed high-twitch/agility racer.
falcon is beginner friendly fox is boost spamming and low aggression because you can just full heal from a pit zone goose is high survivability and high aggression because high durability and low recovery stingray is for sweats who wanna make their life worse

I can't imagine how Fire Field will play once that gets released. Hopefully Nintendo continues supporting this game and maybe even drops tracks from like the GBA games as well!

The fact that it's actually viable in F-Zero 99 is a testament to the amount of effort Nintendo put in to balancing the game, as in the original it's so bad that it's humanly impossible to beat Death Wind II (and thus impossible to complete the King League) on Master with it. Separate note, the color scheme you unlocked for the Golden Fox is basically the Green Amazone's colors from BS F-Zero GP2. Hm... I wonder if the Ace League will be added...
