Rather have the pistol for sure. It makes it feel like you went from rags to riches. Feels like you actually became more powerful. Not starting out with the gallo, which is 1 of the 5 best non ww guns.
So I’ve only played up until BO3 and I got to say I like the fact that you start off underpowered. It means you have to look for better weapons later on. If you start with a weapon that you just want it kinda feels like you’re playing more multiplayer than zombies. I’m not opposed to the option of having both it’s just since this is more of an arcade mode starting from the bottom and slowly making yourself overpowered is a satisfying feeling that you can’t replicate with the custom loadouts.
I know you were only counting mainline 3arc, but WWII also had interchangeable starting weapons. But to answer your question, remove the shotgun, smg, and tactical rifle in BO4 and I think that'd be cool. You still get a starter pistol, but you can pick the type of starting pistol, but that's just me.
I was going to mention WW2 Zombies, IW Zombies, and Extinction too but didn’t feel like people would care since a lot of people didn’t play the none treyarch stuff.
They should do a casual mode where you can start out with any guns you want while the hardcore mode is where you have to spawn in with a pistol

I couldn’t agree more. I like loadouts too but prefer the start with a pistol if I’m just casually playing
We should just start off with the base pistol that Treyarch provides. Treyarch changed way to many things that weren't broken for no good reason.🤦♂

I think is they made classic they should do
1. Starting pistol
2. Og perk system
3. No gobblegums/ elixirs
4. Og 24 zombies round cap
Idk about the 24 zombie round cap tho
