    Great video. I have a home studio and this reinforced what I'm doing. You also explained why you use a mic and placement/angles. Really enjoyed the video and subscribed

    I have the r88 but I’m using it for overhead. I’ll give it a try in the room position.
    Hope your next video of you mixing the drums. ;)

      I made a video the other day of some drum mixing! Check out channel and you’ll find it :) will probably do a more in depth mix at some point too!
      R88 on overhead it’s beautiful too! I like to use it for that when working on more chill material.

      @@spinlightstudios yeah I just found your video! Thanks. Yes, that’s why I use the R88, got it because it’s less harsh on cymbals…. Still struggling with cymbal harshness.

      @@artwerkmedia8616 cymbals are tricky. Sometimes it’s the choice of cymbals too, my old Zildjian sweet Ks has some annoying resonances I was always battling.

    Amazing video! I am going to have a small drum room in November. I have the UAD x8p and I can use the pres from that. I am a pretty decent mixer but this will be the first time engineering drums. I need mic’s any recommendations that are killer but don’t break the bank….yet. Thanks so much!

      SM57s on snare, maybe ATM250 on Tom’s. Warm audio wa14s on overheads, maybe?

    Are those Meinl Pure Alloys? lol f so, what are your thoughts on them for recording?

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  Год назад +1

      The ride is a pure alloy, the crashes are medium thin byzance brilliants. The pure alloy ride sounds nice recorded!
