It's funny how Akasaka made a character say how insane weekly manga artists have it. Yet when he was writing this he was running TWO WEEKLY MANGA at the same time, one he wrote and drew himself (Kaguya, final arc) and one where he writes the storyboard (Oshi no Ko). Both were running in Weekly Young Jump at the time. Humble brag lol Also, another crazy fact... mangaka average life is a good 20 years below that of the Japanese average. So many die from illness young.
Alana, I just got hit during this video by the thought that I really like your background. The plants and decorations are quite appealing. That room looks lively.
Aqua's view of theater as an old school entertainment concept is because his soul or actual age is much older, and it seems like the theater in his mind is the theater of his previous life :D
27:45 I LOVELOVELOVE the "fallout" from that one whimsical choice Aqua made. All he wanted was to snatch a butt for a DNA test. Then, he heard that producer trash talk Kana, and so decided to MAKE Kana a moment to truly shine. Here, we see a mangaka who has countless jobs and hearts in her grasp, to crush or guide, looking to that episode's peak performance to comfort her. Hell of a "whoops" by our angsty revenge seeker.
@@dontjudgemebymyname.4282 From what I've read, it was apparently always intended to be a limited time thing. It was actually supposed to close way sooner but it got an extension because of COVID.
Love your reaction ! Abiko and her mentor are some good friends and good rivals in a way. It was really good to see the Abiko's character growth and this conflict ending like that.
10:40 Oh, it's real. Nuclear disputes between scriptwriters and authors have gone the scarring route countless times in every area of the industry. Actually, nearly every facet of Oshi no Ko can be found in a moment in entertainment history, which would shock you even more if you read the manga.
I'm not usually the type to care about stuff like this, but I feel like there's a certain group of people who might really appreciate how Autism-sensei is written. Weird habits like the teeth brushing (due to feeling physically uncomfortable with remains of food after a meal, something most people would never notice or think about), obsessive about a particular interest to the point she loses track of everything else around her, struggling to communicate with people and fit in, insecure and shy yet brutally blunt when she cares, immediately clinging to the person who's willing to bond with her gently and patiently, and - here's something I really take away from her perfectionism - clinging compulsively to her means of being accepted by other people. I think it's extremely telling that Autism-sensei is portrayed as viciously uncompromising when it comes to her manga, yet we also learn that she IS allowing the readers' widespread opinions to influence the story in big ways. It's not the creative integrity of her work that's the main priority here, it's her work - and by extension herself - not losing the people out there who she feels give her worth. I think many people miss that element and just view it as a story about perfectionism and "self-reliance gone too far" in general. Which it is, of course, but the bigger picture behind it is being painted pretty clearly here and deserves to be acknowledged too.
I genuinely don’t understand why she judges characters from their surface level traits lol you can tell that abiko-sensei has huge respect for her mentor and basically put her on a pedestal and that’s why she was so mad at her work being tarnished bcoz how much she got inspired by it even if she was being rude to her.
Well, Aka Akasaka did have a live adaption for kaguya and it was NOT good. I seem to remember him being a bit angry about it, but my source on that isnt exactly perfect.
As far as twitter goes, I’ve only seen like 10s of Thousands of people actually talking about the new season. Compared to last year that’s gotta be WAY less. If there ARE a lot more people talking about it on other platforms. Please let me know.
I'd almost certainly imagine that Aka Akasaka is taking IRL examples and applying them to OnK. For instance, just in S1 alone Sweet Today being a horrible live action adaptation of a manga is supposedly based on the horrible live action adaptation of his own series Kaguya-sama, and Akane's near-suicide is based on the real life suicide of the female pro wrestler Hana Kimura who went through very similar circumstances. And while the next example would have happened after it was written in the OnK manga, Yuki Tabata, the mangaka of Black Clover, is currently going through some very similar circumstances that Samejima is going through. Up until about a year-ish ago, Black Clover was a weekly manga, until Yuki Tabata's health went downhill and as a result, after a several month hiatus, Black Clover then became a monthly manga. After those few months something else went wrong in Tabata's life and Black Clover went back on hiatus, and will finally release a new chapter in a month or two for the first time in a very long time. And it's not the only example - for another example, I can't even remember the last time Kakegurui released a new manga chapter - it's been at least 6 months.
Correction on Tabata Sensei, he moved from Weekly Jump to Giga Jump due to his health and family reasons, Giga Jump is published every four months. So the next chapter of Black Clover should come out sometime next month since the last two chapters were in April.
If im not wrong this episode made significant waves in JP due to a quite recent incident involving an original manga author and the production team adapting their work; lets just say this episode's conflict reflects what happened... But with a tragic end instead as the author unfortunately self exited this world as their own wishes as a creator was not respected
If you really want context for all of this, you should watch the live-action Kaguya-sama adaption, and try to understand what Aka must have felt like working on it x
I dunno why but I’m not digging season 2 as much as I thought I would. I liked season 1’s focus on the mystery and drama, but S2 seems to be focused on theater and managers/manga? The new characters seemed shoe horned in too, I dunno is it just me?
manga industry go crazy my god....

Yes Alana, those are real theaters IRL.
For example, IHI Stage Around Tokyo is a 360 degree spinning theater in Tokyo.

20:15 Aka Akazaka writing that while he writes Kaguya-sama and Oshi no Ko at the same time, 2 weekly mangas, lol.
Mad lad, especially to make it as clever and hilarious as Kaguya-sama is on such a constant basis

i looked it up that exact theater does exist
I love the outro so damn much
Another awesome episode from oshi no ko
03:10 Kana needs to chill 😂 They are literally just talking to each other, girl, let it go! 🤣
And the script of the play she is going to see is written by Goa.. (whom she rejected for her play)
Ohmygosh, Love it.! 2 mins late..! 😂😢😮❤♡♡◇◇
guess im not the only one getting that Kamoshida flashback
In fact, his name also starts with S, and like Personal 5, both are super good at what they do
Is it season 2😮
pls pls where we can find ?
Aqua lived 2 life and still knows nothing 😂😂😂. Being a doctor is not an excuse, doctors normally know many things beyond medical stuff.
Any update son whether you’re continuing season 2? It’s been two weeks, not to come off as overly eager haha.
