Jamming Alone - Using 2 Bar Phrases With The Slow Blues In E Groove (Part 2 Of A Series)

  • This is an acoustic blues guitar lesson, part 2 of a series, where we'll take a couple of short, 2 bar phrases now (instead of the 1 bar phrases before) and put them together with the good old "Blues In E" groove.
You'll see that a 2 bar phrase can often be just two, 1 bar phrases, so it's usually pretty easy to find more. The key is not starting on beat 1, and giving yourself room to get to the next chord at the end.
If you missed the previous video in the series, it's here:

I'll just echo everyone else and say how much I love the simplicity of this thinking and playing. Great stuff, Grif. Makes practice fun.

Your 3 Jam Alone videos are FANTASTIC. They really speak to me and what i want since I play alone. I'm not looking for songs to learn but want to noodle around with different grooves and sound musical. PLEASE make more Jam Alone videos. Craig Ewinger

This is my go to style when picking my guitar up. I normally use closed positions, but I need to practice in E more, using open strings

i like to think of that little double stop with the c# as a fragment of an A7, that's why it sounds so good over the 4 especially
