YES! It's a long one, but it contains a lot of interesting stuff for everyone on any level. So trying to stick to the end is really worthwhile 💪 HAVE FUN!
Paul out here straight up offering an entire blues lesson to the people for free. What a glorious time to be alive where information is so readily available. Thank you so much for contributing to the biggest collection of knowledge humanity's ever seen.
Been playing guitar for nearly a year and a half and I'm finding even the first one difficult. It's making me move my fingers in ways they've not moved before and I feel like an absolute spanner. Fair play
Arnav Sawhney I don't agree. To Richard and the Stones rock and roll had more to with lifestyle: drugs, sex and mega money and less about music. They began as a decent but mediocre blues band, but they we're never going to make in that world. Keith Richards has used his status to try and portray himself as a bluesman for years, but he is not. No evidence exists of it being true, except for in the confines of his addled mind. .....Many, many people have become rich and famous in R and R without being able to play blues. The truth is that there is almost zero work out there for blues artists these days, unless they're up for teaching or playing on the street.
@@maplebones I don't know man, Honkytonk women was a pretty badass song. So I'd at least say old Keith made one cool bluesy song. Old Stones were cool, didn't care much for them past the 60's and 70's. But I like the rude stuff like Zeppelin's 1st two cuts and Hendrix playing the blues, in all fairness Keith ain't good enough to be a pimple on Jimi's ass.

I realize that I know nothing and have mostly the same level I got since my 20yo, and your videos inspire me to re-work basical techniques and then discover news horizons. Please, try to keep In mind that youtube is international, and you have people for whom english is not the native language...but you're quite better than most youtube guitar teachers on the effort made for us to be more compréhensible ! I love papastache, but I understand 50%...
Your videos are very good. You are clear and don't waste time and 24 mins did not feel long and I love your guitars. Cheers from Adelaide South Australia.
I just wanted to say thank you for this. I've been playing for decades, but feel like I've missed so much of the fundamentals of rhythm and turn arounds like this. Thank you for so much valuable information and for your time in doing this to share. Great stuff!
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been in a rut of just trying to learn riffs and licks. I forgot how awesome and important (and fun) blues rhythm guitar is. Great lesson!
Great stuff! Texas shuffle is my favorite! Thanks for sharing! Guitar players are fortunate to have teachers like yourself who take the time to break this stuff down
I recently discovered you on here and realize you have me practicing things I needed 30 years ago to incorporate into my playing. What a cool approach you have. You have me understanding intervals better, and make we want to pick up the guitar much much more often. Thank you and cheers.
An idea to have timecodes for various sections is brilliant (unlike some bloggers, who make you watch 30 minutes of them rambling about everything except for the main point of the video)
Awesome awesome awesome awesome... ! Finally, found a guitar player on RUclips that shows licks which fit my player level. I am glad that you share stuff like this with us, Paul. Best regards from Lower Bavaria, Germany.
The dynamics of the class is very good, it hurts that you don't even speak Spanish but it also helps me to practice the language, thanks, very excellent content!
Sweet simplicity. Your teaching technique has opened my eyes (or is it my fingers) since I started watching the tube 3 years ago. Feeling a lot of guilt right now so I’m heading over to patreon for my first ever patronage. Keep on jamming it Pablo. Pick-ahh-so!
Thank you so much for every video . I have seen plenty of them and these are one of my favourite on youtube in order to learn good stuff. Your time is not in vain. Greetings from Spain. Rock on!
I really enjoyed this! Hey from Chiba, Japan(originally from western Canada, but I’ve been in Japan for over 20 years so this is home now). I laughed out loud at the “typical” places, probably for the same, “typical” reasons🤓😎💰. Also, I’d like to compliment your English fluency...AMAZING WORK, young man. I’m learning, even in my late 50’s, my efforts are slowly starting to show. Thank you so much for making these videos. What a marvellous Era we live in!! Be Well, and Stay Healthy‼️🎸
Thanks Paul. A few of weeks ago I set your Texas blues thing as my "learn something under lockdown" thing having not really played much guitar for a few years - it SWINGS babe and it's taken me to a whole new place. Learned it and I LOVE it. Made my own minor changes to it of course (I can't use my thumb over the fret board like you do - I just can't) and I'm playing a Semi acoustic so very different action but what a great vibe. You're a GOOD teacher mate and that is a thing to be. Hats off to you and I can't help but start writing songs on it. Deeply groovy - keep on keeping on babe. More of the same please.
Thx for all your content Paul, really glad I found you. I was self taught, 20+ years ago, and didn't even learn the chord names til 6-7 years into playing. I've already learned so much from you! Ty🙏👊
Dude, you are amazing! I been learning too much with u !! And just to see and hear you playing makes my day better !! And I improve my English ! From BRAZIL
This video speaks to my heart! Hi Paul, been playing for many years. Decided to try your Learn, Practice, Play Course to see what I’ve missed. My playing has improved already. Thank you!!! 🎸 Rita.
Hi Paul, thanks a lot for your lessons. This one is really great, I have been revisiting this video for a few months now & there is so much to learn from this video. 👌All the best, Peter
Paul HAS to be in his local musicians union. ANY touring band from any genre can make a call and he'd be playing their music spot on by that night. He just continues to amaze. And he doesn't show off for 45 seconds on something that has nothing to do with the lesson. That's such a turn-off. Best believe he could !! Just a class act.
on that Texas shuffle try a circular pattern in your strum... SRV does that a lot. its a circle done from the elbow. really kicks up the groove factor.
This is the best Blues Rhythm lesson on RUclips. Got the first one down in a couple hours, and going to get the other two down tonight. Thanks so much Paul!
Another great video, Paul! Your pace is perfect. Slow enough for beginners to follow, yet quick enough so that more advanced players don't get bored. I have learned more in the last six months watching your videos than I have in the previous 3 to 5 years! Thank you, and keep it up!
I realise this is about a year old now but it’s a really fantastic post. I’m writing to tell you that for this type of multiple subjects , the intro with a summary and time code is really very very nice and your extra effort to do so is appreciated
There’s also Johnny Winter, T Bone Walker, Albert Collins and of course Freddie King who I think has the most inspiration on stevies riffs and bass lines, who came out of Texas, listen to stumble and hide away, definitely inspired the double troubles sound
Paul...you are an inspiration, man! You are doing God's work teaching people how to play guitar--sexy and smooth for all to enjoy and learn. You have a gift...
Awesome lesson Paul! You're always releasing very interesting and very well done videos, for all of us that love Blues. By the way, I love that Telecaster-like guitar! Sounds great! Thanks for sharing your love for that wonderful thing called music!
the third one made me feel like I am really rocking on guitar for the first time. Wow, I am amazed it sounds so bluesy, and this b7 chromatic lick is just better than what it feels to play J. Smith at Collings CL. For the first time in my life I am really getting the claw of blues and hendrix-like understanding how he was thinking about playing rhythm & solo on 6 strings at the same time. Perfectly Done Paul, You are my inspiration to become a better guitar player. Thank you~!
Thanks, Paul. I first learned a 12-bar blues back in the 80s on my (long since stolen) electric guitar. Picking back up with acoustic, and this lesson is very timely for me. Love it!

Also who makes that jacket you're wearing? Looks nice
Great video. Loads to learn in there. Thanks
This might be be the single greatest blues guitar lesson of all time.
Good stuff, man. Subbed.
Imagine Gibson making a “Les Paul Davids”
I'd buy that guitar
That´s actually a really good name for a signature guitar
Wow! A Paul David’s guitar by: Gibson! Just Sounds right. Paul has earned it!!!! I’d buy one too ❣️ Rita
Whoever is in their marketing department is failing on this front
He should do a really good signature copy called 'Mo Davids

Keith Richards had it right - "You cannot play Rock n' Roll if you cannot play the blues".

Shows how such a 'simple' music form is quite sophisticated when you look at how it grooves when done properly!
