go complain to BBC about it and have them reprimand someone that worked there 40 years ago, so many comments stuck on that one point, yeah I noticed it too
Oh my. Saw The Runaways in 1977 or 1978 (can't remember exactly) at a fairly small venue in downtown San Francisco. It was in one of the high rise buildings downtown. Can't remember the name of the place but the other band there was a "punk" band. These gals were fantastic. Went down to Tower Records the next day and bought their current album. Well .. actually the cassette. Queens of Noise followed by Waitin' for the Night best albums in my opinion. Can't believe there are some old videos of the Runaways on YT available. Like going back in time.
This was their opening song when I saw them open for the Ramones in January of '78. Backstage, after the show, Sandy grabbed me by the front of my shirt and gave me a deep kiss. Seeing this, Joan grabbed the girl I met in line outside before the concert and was hanging out with and gave her quite the passionate kiss, also. Over forty years later, I'm still with that girl.
Who the hell remembers the opening song of the warm up band 40 years later? I've seen so many concerts of bands I absolutely idolize. And i couldn't remember not 1 opening song from any of them. Of course we are talking bands from back in the 80,s. Like Priest, Maiden, Metallica, G&R, Scorpions etc. And honestly I don't remember the first songs. And these were the main attractions. I can't even tell you who the warm up was!
1987 I crashed my dirt bike. I woke up from surgery and there was a signed Lita Ford concert promo poster in my room saying, "Heard you missed my concert because of your wreck. Tried to wake you but you were asleep. With love, Lita." My mom spilled the beans that it was my best friend Rick's handywork!! LOL.
I saw this lineup of the Runaways at The Capitol Theater in Passaic on the same "New Wave in New Jersey" bill with The Ramones and the post-Robert Gordon Tuff Darts. No more Cherie Currie on vocals and bassist Vicky Blue had replaced Jackie Fox who left to attend law school! They were all great and Joey Ramone performed like a trooper with a burnt face after a vaporizer he was using exploded and he was taken to a hospital emergency room. That night he was one pink punk!

HUGE credit to Kenny Laguna (Manager) for putting her back on the charts with I love R&R and this is RAW in your face R&R , just like The Ramones . This either makes you want to smash a wall or take an or make you act like your grandma and get a Valium. I LOVE this girl!
This is some seriously bad ass rock for 1977. It's too bad they didn't last much longer after this.
It's easy to make a badass rock song when you're just copying a badass rock song from 2 years earlier
77 , what a year!!!
AboutTime shoot shoot? 🛸
@@KingCrofty I just mentioned that in my comment I posted . This is a exact copy of Shoot Shoot from UFO
@@crisrose521 Most of her hits were pro songwriters or covers
How can anyone not like this? What's wrong with them? What happened?
WTF!?!? That's Lita Ford! Cherie had already left The Runaways. Epic fail on the captions.👎
go complain to BBC about it and have them reprimand someone that worked there 40 years ago, so many comments stuck on that one point, yeah I noticed it too
@@jasonmullinder : LMAO. 😁😂🤣 I guess reading the comments before posting my own would've been helpful.
That little riff in the opening is a direct pull from Michael Schenker on Shoot Shoot from Force It.
The internet needs some more footage of Joan and Lita together. Hotter than a firecracker on the fourth of July 🔥
Love how this song has epic guitar solos that are awesome!!!
女性リードギタリストリタフォードの艶髪金髪ロングHairふりみだしギターアクションは最高でしたネ!
Damn they are so good!
Joan did a great job taking over lead vocals. Great band
Joan steering the ship..... They held their own in 77' when PUNK was in his glory!
Alice Lam since when was this group or Joan jett punk?
Yechhh!
PUNK? Wow
@Nigel 61 yea I know, that's what I was saying?
@Nigel 61 Any bad rock band after 1970 is punk.
I just can't imagine a hotter image than seeing these girls rock! Lita Ford is a goddess of rock guitar.
was blown away how good this is.incredible band.
Gracias por compartir. Recordando a Joan Jett en su venida a mi pais. Saludos desde Venezuela.
This is what happens when you sit up all night listening to Michael Schenker. And then pinch the riff from Shoot Shoot by UFO. Dear god.....
lita ford was so hot back in the day. great guitar player, too.
I think she's still fairly hot, especially for a 61 year old.
Yes she was
Anybody that loves the Runaways should check out the Warning, three young talented sisters.
Wow what a story!
r/thathappened
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ I love your story!!
@MusicalElitist1 : My point Is that it's hard to take a story like that and believe it. Period.
Ano em que nasci. Muito bom esse som de guitarras ligadas direto nos amps.
LOL.
I had the hots for Joan Jett when I was a teenager back I the late 70s early 80s.
They had a great sound, talented ladies.
Lita Ford and Joan Jett....dang take me back in time please
Man, that Hamer Standard... One of the most beautiful guitars ever made! Hamer took the already awesome Gibson Explorer and made it better!
Joan Jett is a female rock legend! I've always loved Joan!
Awesome, underrated band. Love them forever.
Didn t get any air play back then.
OMG, Lita has always been smokin hot!!!
Saw them at a tiny club in Denver about the time this clip was recorded. Great show from 15 feet away from the stage
both jackie fox and cherie curry were gone at this point, they left earlier in 1977, first jackie in june, then cherie and lita had their blow up and cherie left. would have probably happened right before this recording. joan taking over on vocals, that's vicky blue on bass.
They were still teenagers when they performed here. Incredible
That’s NOT Cherie Currie singing with Joan, it’s Lita Ford. Just wanna make sure anyone watching knows this. Cool video, thanks!
I love this video.. We can see Lita was metal bound from the start ! good job ladies.
Yes, she loved bands like Deep Purple
I love that Hamer Lita's playing
When this came out I was barely 5. Now I'm much older and this is still going is a real enjoyment.
RIP Sandy West
Keith Finsley RIP :(
Attitude and swagger for days! Pure rock n roll!
The middle single notes guitar line is from SHOOT SHOOT , which is a Michael Schenker lick from the Force It album in 1975 from UFO
This is by far their best song. Joan shreds this song so much more than Cherie could have.
It's Lita Ford not Cherie Currie (who'd left the band by this point). HELLO!
Laureen Zed , it s really .😄😄😅😅😘😘😝😜
So are you saying that is not Lita in the video?
CLUE: that is Lita on lead.
The caption shows something about Currie sharing vocals with Joan. I scratched my head at that too.
obviously she had not left the band yet.
Brilliant. Bought it as soon as I saw this. School Days on the other side. Still have it
Joan was the cutest thing back then!
Still is.
You need glasses. Lita is cute as hell... Joan is as appealing as a sourkraut ice-cream cone!
Both are beautiful. But more importantly in this instance they are AMAZING musicians!
I saw Joan like 8 years ago live and she looked like a leather chamois, that smokes meth. Godawful performance as well.
Cherie too
