Gintama is a truly special and one-of-a-kind anime. Definitely check it out if you’re interested

You are mostly confused because the first two episodes are actually specials for the manga readers the real series starts from epi 3

This got me cackling😂 Gintama is my favorite series, but even with context, it can be really chaotic and random, but it's great.
The anime had some trouble with the budget and fought hard to not be canceled by the bosses on top. It actually did get canceled once, and the anime made an anime-only movie that gave the anime a deserving ending(with the mangaka as a writer on it). But the movie did so well that they got to return.
Something similar happened to the true ending as well(as they explained in the literal final episode😂), so the anime staff got the anime two special episodes as well as a movie to wrap up the series with. it has the same ending as the manga, but some things they had to leave out. It was done really well despite the constraints they were working with, and fans are very pleased.
Now, Gintama is a comedy first, but it has a plot that for the most part is developed in the background, but the series can be just as cool/badass/sad/heartfelt as it can be funny. Although the humor might be a bit subjective as not everyone vibes with the humor(I vibe with it).

Episode 1&2 of Gintama are special episodes made for manga readers when the anime first released so you can see many characters. If you're going to react to Gintama at some point, ep 3 is the real start of the manga plot

Comedy is not filler!! Gintama is mainly comedy, slice of life

Thank you! I don't understand when 'filler' became anything that had no action and heavy plot... Filler just means anime only
The first episode he watched and a lot of the final episode is filler tho lol But Gintama filler is good. It has created its own flavor because it fits the anime more. Just like that manga has its own things that wouldn't work as well in an anime.

      FR
Gintama is a sitcom with action, -not a battle shonen with 85% filler 😂

Definitely would watch Gintama reactions if you did them, from how you reacted to these two episodes it seems like you would enjoy the series.

there's also an episode where they addresses the complain their having about having a lot of lewd jokes in the anime. its funny because it's been being read like here in a sad sorry tone like they really have done bad things in the anime and in the last sentences they made a conclusion that they're going to double down and make more lewd jokes. that episode really made me burst out laughing

now u gotta do the first and last episode of one piece so far (episode 1 and episode 1122) the anime is also on hiatus till april so ep 1122 will be the latest episode for a while
also this is the last episode of the main series of gintama but then there's two special episodes which continue from this part of the manga, right where the episode plot cut off before the court stuff lol and then that segways into "Gintama: The Very Final" movie (released in 2021) which adapts the last couple chapters and concludes the final arc of the manga. The final movie/manga ending is definitely one of my favorite anime endings ever it was almost perfect, its usually rare to see a shonen series have a good ending. Its actually still ranked number 7 on myanimelist in the top anime category which goes to show how well recieved the ending was! So yeah the series both the anime and manga are officially over and although u technically watched the last episode of the main series theres still more manga content adapted to conclude the series in the form of anime specials and the movie.
Edit: also when they said they were executing that hot guy because the Shinsengumi wasted a lot of episodes at 27:06 its not because they had a lot of filler episodes, but because one of the most important and serious arcs in the series that happens around the end of the series is the Farewell Shinsengumi arc. Its one of the longest arcs lmaoo. (that arc is peak by the way and expanded so much of the story in the best way possible) but his point was he was joking since they had so much screentime since ofc it was an arc centered around them and that particular season ended on that specific arc too lol.

Funny, cause you are actually watching the actual first episode, which is filler chronologically situated somewhere between 22 and 60, and the last episode, which is actually NOT the last part of the story...
AND YET, that nonsensical shit is actually very Gintama like :v

the end is the movie, the las ep in the anime is not the end

Well it’s the last episode of the quote anime so I don’t think I’m not completely wrong watching a whole movie with no context I think would be a little much
