Brings back memories of the RV-4 a friend's dad built when I was a teenager. An ex-SAS pilot we knew took me up for some aerobatics in it. Thrilling stuff.
Cool aircraft :) I bought this pretty much right away. As far as the engine sound: it seems like they've retained the dynamic range of the real thing. Engines tend to get really loud when you apply full throttle. so idle sounds quiet in comparison. I like it :) It's opne of the better aircraft for MSFS. Especially with the nice bubble canopy, it provides excellent views in VR.
I’m interested to get your opinion of the BT studio J3 cub. I found the performance in-flight characteristics to be nearly spot on, with reasonably accurate sound. It flies beautifully, and is certainly a joy to fly. The textures are a little bland, and could definitely use some work. The aircraft needs a little age or patina, and some of the animations could use a little more attention. The tail wheel on it is modeled horribly, and the pilot figures do not have quite the right fit, but it’s an eight dollar add-on. It also needs to have the radio removed. You can hand prop it though, which is pretty cool.
My biggest complaint about that one is the textures all around, theres no ribs on the wings or body, looks like an aluminum plane with a brand new paint job
@@Digital__rb I agree, the model isn’t great, and the textures are pretty bad. But without another suitable J3, it’s serviceable. It should’ve been freeware. But at least it wasn’t scamware. It’s worth the eight bucks in my opinion.
@@AvAngel this one’s about the same, lol! I got it, because it’s the only J3 available. It’s a reasonably good stand-in until something better comes along, I guess.
Aside from the model number, for the average person not intimately familiar with the nuances of RV’s, what are the dramatic differences between this RV14 and the RV7 and 7A that are already out? What would make a person who already has the 7 want to spend money on this RV14?
Looks like a fun little GA to me, but I’m holding out for the classic series military and old GA’s, I’ll leave all the glass cockpits to them that appreciate them. Myself, I love the oldies, but goodies, perfect example would be the Douglas Dc-3 for starters
Like the Kodiak, I wonder if you can pull the circuit breaker on the little display left of the PFD to get a major FPS boost. Anyway, great review, glad you are on SWS' preview list. They are knocking it out of the park!
I like this aircraft except for two things: I cannot change the system barometric pressure with my Xbox controller, and the wings look like they were caught in a hail storm. If those two things changed, this would be a favourite. It handles really well, and the views are great! Too bad I'm always looking at the dimpled wings.
I’m learning to fly on the RV12, and I gotta say the handling of this both on the ground and in the air feels so similar to it, even though they’re slightly different models. Van’s make great aircraft
Can you pop the CB for the small backup display, on the Kodiak if you pop that CB and turn off the backup you can get almost 10fps back according to another YT video I watched
Maybe in a developer provided preview this would be bad form, but overall how does it compare to deejing's freeware RV-7? Clearly you fly that a lot. 😜 And SWS will have their own version of the 7 in a year-ish.
I’ll be honest, they know that . For freeware it’s fantastic, and I do love it for the steam gauge one. Both are excellent however this does have the better sound and overall handling, but they are different aircraft, the 7 and 14, though sws said they had plans for more of the family
UNLIKE and UNSUBSCRIBING!! Every time I see nice airplanes YOU are costing me money! lol. The Mooney, the Kodiak and now probably the Rv14! I would never give unlikes or unsubscribe! My fave channel! When are you going to have a multiplayer session?
Stop please! Don't you realise there is a cost of living crisis? Now I've got to shell out for this on top of a 737, an A320, an MD80, a Concorde and God knows what else!😀😂
not in front, its above, and yeah with lots of instruments turned up bright its quite glaring, you can however turn them down like real life... where its less.
@@AvAngel In real life, there is no such vivid reflection anyway. Other developers get it right. I do a little modeling myself, and I know what I'm talking about.
I don't like the prop animation it looks like the designer think the one he see on RUclips of real airplans is how a prop looks like in RL, but ouer eyes do not have a video frame shutter in ouer brain, so please go fly a real airplan befor you make a prop animation.
The frame rate issues may be related to the emergency attitude indicator on the far left. Pop the fuse for that, and you’ll probably recover 5fps.
First thing I do in the Kodiak is pop that sucker.
Yep. Pull "Spare 2" and I get +6 FPS
Same fix as described for the Kodiake here works on the Van too: ruclips.net/video/xeRHGWV-1so/видео.html
Such a beautiful little bird. So much fun!!
Thanks for another awesome preview! I’m looking forward to this RV 14 for sure.
One of the best addon developers. Look at that beautiful copilot in 3rd and 1st person :P No amateurs here.
Copilot is default Asobo. Shes in several other GA aircraft.
@@fsx-legend4602 Not in 1st person she isn't.
Great review!
Thank you!

Visibility is outstanding.
Love all RV aircrafts. Toghether with justflight ones this will be my prefered GA aircraft for MSFS. Hope to see more RV models like RV4 or RV8.
I’d love an RV-8. I hear the one available is pretty bad though.
A really cool aircraft !!! well equiped for long flights in MSFS !!! a must have ! great video, thanks !
I'm hoping to start building a real RV14A soon. The sim version will keep me interested...

I'm reluctant to get that one as they made the rather rough Kitfox that released when the sim first did... and the c90 beech that were all kinda eh.

Wonderful review AA. Keep up the great work.
That is the nicest van i have ever seen , mind you you do taxi it like a white van Maam !!! . Cool video as always .
Another great review, just out of Interest having watched most of you're reviews what is the aircraft you fly the most and why, many thanks Gary.
Kitfox or husky for bush, just really capable fun planes, for ga touring, Seminole or sky master for visibility and speed.😀

Looks great. Thank you
Good video, looks like a great aircraft to site see and tour! Can't wait to get it. I need to learn about all of the GPS options you mentioned.
I use the paid version of the pms50 it includes the free one, tds is newer but used garmins own nav data where the pms uses navigraph

Yes
How do I change baro on the pfd? (the outer left knobs only control map zoom and changes thru the menus)
Click it on screen
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me on xbox.
@@kennyiglesias622I have the same problem.
Very good plane, but no trim possibility?
Certainly has trim
@@AvAngel But where ? I can't find a way :-(
On the stick or panel , it’s electronic

The what? How? Why? RV-14 looka be closer than I though
Both of Simworks RVs are 50% off and I’m having a really hard time resisting

At night, the reflection of the instruments in the glass is too bright. It's not realistic at all. It would be impossible to fly.
