Attached to point 8, something not nearly enough people talk about, and the reason I have a husky, is the GOT effect. When that TV show became popular, Huskies became the number one bred dog on planet earth, AND the most common dog in shelters in the US and UK. Another fact - huskies have a very powerful bite force that is measured to be 320 psi which is way powerful than a bite force of a German Shepherd (238psi) and Pitbulls (235psi)❤️
Togo (1913 - December 5, 1929) was the lead sled dog of Leonhard Seppala and his dog sled team in the 1925 serum run to Nome across central and northern Alaska. He ran over 300 miles (480 km), while Balto, along with other sled dogs, ran an average of around 31 miles (50 km).
Strong characters, outgoing persomality, excellent with kids. What's not to love about those dogs. I understand why people have problems with them. They are not shy to try to outsmart you. They trust their instincts and question your orders if they are not in the mood. On the other hand, my wife got lost two times walking with our siberian and the moment the dog figured out that she is helpless, he lead her on the shortest way to home. If you see your sib as a good friend and learn to co op with them, they are excellent partners for the rest of their life.
I used to have a husky...she passed away from cancer, she also had heterochromia and she was very intelligent, no matter how far she went, she always found her way and would scratch the door. I miss her Edit: ah...thanks for the kindness and all. I really appreciate it and to the others who've lost a special doggie in their lives, I'm sorry and hope they're resting peacefully above the clouds Edit #2: haha the funny thing is I didn't get a chance to say goodbye because my mom already took her to get put down (^~^;)ゞ
Our first husky lived almost 16 years. Nearly killed us when she passed away (it broke our hearts to lose her). She would get out of the yard, going over fences, under fences, or through the fences (removing planks). One night I found her at the end of the road just taking herself for a walk. Opened the door and she jumped into the car (thank God she wasn't hit by some car!). She wanted to be people and didn't understand she wasn't (that made us sad because we took her everywhere we could). I hope you get another husky when you are ready. After two years, I now have a new puppy (Luca is now 5 months old) and he is a joy! Good luck. I know what that missing piece of your life now. :(
Just got one last night only few months old and trying get it trained like my other dog that was raised came out to be a good dog but getting this husky seem to be a challenge already not liking the crate starts to make noises soon I leave the room when got sleep lol but going be fun tho
As a long time husky owner, I feel sorry for so many them because they don't have good owners. Huskies are strong willed and can be very stubborn. They also love to hunt. They require very much exercise. It helps to have a big contained yard. Fun and very friendly. Not a good guard dog.
@@luciegouverneur8668 Huskies are cautious and moody. What they really like is chasing when they are in the mood. And they will tell you when they are ready.
Me and my husky living 4 years together. Every day we sleep, eat, play together. My wife loves my husky sleeping with us. It's very relaxing and warm, comfortable hugging a husky. I love my husky. He is now 4 years old and still a cute giant puppy.😍😍😍
Thanks for the video. I am going to pick up my new housemates this afternoon, a 9 year-old Siberian Husky and her 3 year-old daughter, also pure bred. Very excited and I have a lot of land on which they can roam. I feel privileged to have these beautiful animals and will connect with other Husky owners to get their wisdom. Great story about Balto and now I know about Togo.
I have a Husky-Akita mix called Aika and she is a joy! She turns 14 this year and is the sweetest dog I've ever seen. She loves kids and gets along very well with other animals and people.
@@sammyioane3274 don't rough house with it. Change the subject when they bite . Say NO BITES! And then offer a toy. You may have to check with a trainer or breeder.
Fact: It was another Siberian Husky named Togo, not Balto, that was the true hero back in 1925. There were 20 teams in total. 19 teams ran 31 miles each whereas Togo's team ran 200 plus miles. Balto wasn't even the leed dog of his team. The leed dog was named Fox. Even journalists twisted facts back then.
I have a Siberian husky and this breed is also known as escape artists. Ours has gotten out of the hard so many times we've lost count. They can jump or dig to get through a fence. They are hard to walk because they pull constantly and never get tired. They're also very stubborn and willful. They also don't do well with cats and other small animals because they want to eat them. Other than that they are great dogs, tons of personality and good with kids.
Huskies are not guard dogs. Not even a tiny bit. They are nomad dogs and will not typically defend a territory. To the contrary, they will shower any stranger breaking into your home with love and affection.
Siberian Husky are my favorite dogs. I had a Siberian Husky when I was about age 10 and he was very protective of me. I wish that I owned a Siberian Husky now for many reason why.
If you heart longs for a husky, then do take a job, where you can take a husky. Do not let your heart be empty. Just be that boy again of 10 years old and take 2 of them. Bless you sir.🐾
Togo was the real hero lead dog of the serum run. Togo ran 264 miles of the serum run. Balto only ran the last 55 miles. But because he was the lead dog of the last sled dog team, he got all the credit. Togo led his team on the longest, hardest, and most dangerous leg. Up and down a mountain and across cracking ice in a bay. All the dogs and mushers were heroes. But Togo and musher Leonard Seppala were the greatest heroes.
I love my Husky ”kai” he is a hand full and loves to argue with me about everything I'm in love with his howls ugh he just melts my heart he's not my first dog but he sure is the best one I've had I love him to the moon and back.. My husband and three kids say I love Kai more than I love them lol it may be true tho 🤷🏻♀️
I have had Husky's for over 40 years. They are great protectors for the kids and can make good baby sitters. No other human will touch your child with them as baby sitters. In southern climates use a 1 foot deep hard plastic pool with 4 inches of water and they will keep their temp under control by walking or laying in it.
Huskies are wonderful, loving dogs who get along with almost everybody. But they do have their drawbacks: 1. They're incorrigible escape artists. If you want to find out if a dog can get out of a fenced yard, put a Husky in it and wait a bit. She'll find a way over, under, around or even through almost everything. 2. Huskies can be independent, headstrong and contrarian. You can train a Husky to do almost anything...so long as it sounds like fun at the time. But if there's a distraction, she's off like a shot. 3. Huskies have a strong prey/hunting instinct. I had a Husky who used to escape on occasion, and when she came home, sometimes she'd come home covered in the blood of whatever she rolled in. Or on other occasions, she lost a fight with a skunk. Humour ensues, if the dog runs into the television room full of people. (Imagine a "Pepe Le Pew" cartoon come to life.) 4. Huskies will suck up to anybody, including dog catchers. Which has its own annoyances. 5. For all their gentle, loving and often amusing ways around humans, Huskies can occasionally be pugnacious with other animals, including dogs. They won't back down from a fight. Worse, a Husky who is trying to establish herself as "top dog," and get all the attention can and will pick fights with other family dogs. I know this from sad and tragic experience.
Fact balto finished the run but togo is the real hero check out the facts and then comment on it..... Not a dig btw as there is very limited information on this but is true..
I have my husky and I love him so much I have seen an increase of people getting them and I’ve seen an increase of abandoned huskies as well if you consider getting one they are a lot of work and require lots of attention they get bored easily don’t get one if you don’t have the time for them .
agree. live near seattle and see a lot of sad, anxious dogs both in shelters and on leashes where clearly the owners underestimated how energetic and vivid these dogs are. they NEED to RUN. often. and prefer to always have their pack with them…human or otherwise.
I absolutely love the Siberian Husky. They were always my favorite breed. Such an amazing and beautiful animal. Truly. Sadly, I'm allergic. Found out when my parents got me a Siberian Husky for my eleventh birthday. Was absolutely devastating. Oddly enough I'm not allergic to German Shepherds. Would be heartbroken if I ever developed an allergy to them too. Ps: Togo was the true Hero by the way. Ran the greatest distance, ran the hardest and went through the most dangerous areas. Not knocking Balto, he was a good boy. He did what he was supposed to do. But Togo was an awesome dog. He was something else entirely. Truly one of a kind! He was a LEGEND! There will never be another like him.
So, you want a Siberian Husky, Be Prepared for the Hair!!!! They can grow a total of up to 70 ft. of Hair a day and Shed constantly, especially in temperate climates, and when they blow their coat during Shedding Seasons OMG!!!!
They do shed a lot when blowing their coats especially but 70 feet a day is a huge exaggeration. Right now they all have their winter coats so the shedding is minimal.
What about Togo? Bolto finished the last 55 miles when before that an amazing lead dog Togo led 260 miles and even ran across ice in which hours later broke apart. Togo did the majority of the run he never got credit. Dont believe me? Do your research.
The local media was in such a hurry to get the story to print that they didn't research the whole story. The people who matter, sled dog owners & breeders, know who Togo is and the full story.
My baby is a an albino sled dog....sleeping on my feet just now...I wouldnt trade her for any other dog...person...amount of money....or anything else in the world....these dogs are unbelievably amazing companions....smartest breed I've ever known.....much more like a human child....they deserve the best possible treatment please make more videos on thier needs....people need to know how to nurture them. Thank you for this video..😊

I used to sled dog race with a bunch of Siberians. They are amazing dogs. One of the top ten ways to have joy in your life with a house of of huskies! You will also become more patient! Wooo, wooo….
I have a husky named Hulk but we should have just named him Chapo the way he keeps escaping the property through holes he digs; his puppies Blue and Thor are no different 😂
My wife and I live in Nicaragua. We bought a White Serbian Husky and he is one of the smartest dog I have ever encountered. He is great with the kids also

We had a pair roaming our neighborhood. We found out they are escape artist from a nearby neighborhood. She said they either jump or dig out of the fenced yard with brick along it. They frightened some in our community as they have dogs and cats. One lady said they chased her , but she may be afraid of dogs. Others say they were not agressive.
husky's have only 1 owner for life, no matter who else they play or respect, only 1 person will be considered as the owner for them, i had my baby for 16 years, and he was the most loyal and playfull friend ever!
Being from India and having not gone abroad much, I have never seen a Husky. You can't have one here for obvious reasons. But from their videos, they are really interesting. As a child I had read about how a Husky team transported Anti Diptheria serum to save some children in Alaska and was really impressed by these brave and heroic canines.
Already knew all of these so I was a little disappointed lol But we just rescued a 9 month old red husky with ice blue eyes. She's so energetic and smart it's amazing.
I have owned 4 Siberian Huskies, right now I have a 7 year old Female and a 3 year old Male that being said I can tell you they are VERY STRONG Will Dogs but I would not Change that for anything in the World! You are 100% correct when you said they are GREAT Companions and Protectors! Both of my Siberians are Trained to be Service Dogs and go with me and my wife everywhere we go because of a Military Service Injury and they can tell when I am going to have issues and alert my wife before I can! Their Nose and Ears are Awesome that is one way they know if I am having issues specially with my blood sugar!
Super video!! One minute in and i learned a new word: "heterochromia!" So THAT's what it's called, OK! I love learning new things and also loved the accent of the narrator (o:+
My first Husky was a female named Wolf, she was the best dog, so smart and kind and gentle. My current is a Husky/Shepherd mix, he has more Husky traits though, he’s goofy and smart and talks like a Husky but also barks like a Shepherd. Huskies are the best dogs.
These dogs were bred to have their own mind. In that way when they lead the way they could choose the safest path and override where the human was directing them. This same intelligence makes them absolutely adorable in that they can solve their own problems very quickly. My husky if you leave the door ajar a little bit she'll not just push it with the nose but put a paw in there and actually slide the door open and even open the Venetians by pulling down on the cord because she saw me do it once or twice.
I had to put our 5 and a half year old female lab/husky down last week. She had the husky tail, ears, howl and personality but otherwise looked like a lab. She was my favorite dog by far being so lovable and acted like a daddies girl. Our next dog will be the same. As much as I hated the howl at times I'll always miss it.
Love my Siberian Husky. Going on 2 months, being 4 months old. Training must be constant. Very active dog ( s ), and also couch potato. Definitely a runner dog, endurance is extremely high.
i go bikejoring with my husky as i am completely aware they are not only satisfied with just walking. Some people comment that it's animal abuse (facepalm) I say it's more abuse for them if they weren't given the chance to run. Hell I din't even train the dog to pull :/ it's just their instinct.
AT-TE CloneTrooper. Some people have been raised on Disney movies. They have no idea what any breed of dog, or any animal, needs to be happy. The big draft horses, for instance, were bred to pull heavy items. It's their joy, just as thoroughbreds must run. They have no clue that huskies must run and pull to be happy. Maybe you could write up an educational flier to hand out every time someone accosts you with their BS?
It's what huskies love to do the most. My parents had one and she got a bit grumpy in the winter when they chopped firewood. My dad had to hook a dog harness to a tiny sled and pile it with some logs. She was overjoyed and always loved ot pull it a measly 10 meters to the front door. They do get grumpy/sad if they can't pull anything.
Awesome dogs, only drawback is the hair, that stuff is everywhere no matter how much you brush, vacuum or clean your dog, its everywhere! On other hand you get use to it after a while
I use to have a Siberian husky he knew how to say my name and he was still a little pup when he passed away I would say all husky are smart and playful and protective my dog would always protect me and my family his name was oso I still do miss him, huskies are very brave and strong and you can always count on them!
Huskies are also escape artists from secure fenced yards, many are food aggressive, they shed all the time and must be brushed a lot twice a year to get the shedding undercoat out and through out the year every week or two. They are stubborn, will destroy your house if left alone until they get older due to separation anxiety. Should never be given raw hide. Some adore cats others would like them with mayo. They can be picky eaters. Really don't do well in really hot areas. Mine have stayed in the house since im in the South. And they need to be taught to sit and drop it and so on for a treat. They will probably never stop pulling on their leash and can't be trusted off leash. The one in my picture was rescued and liked cats, was food aggressive at first ( but remained that way towards animals, just not toward me )but never tore up a thing. He passed away last year ( im still a mess over it ) i know how the guy feels missing your dog in the other room because of him. I now have a red husky. She has bad food aggression but learning to ease up toward her humans. Not toward dogs and cats. I would not leave her alone loose in the house, she has to be crated. I do not trust her with my toy poodle ( go watch the video of a husky killing a small poodle) . She loves my mini poodle playing through the barrier but I am afraid to let them be together because husky had growled before at them. Both of my huskies bark as much as any dog. Both leash pullers. Both cant be trusted off leash. My husky in the picture learned to say run around when he wanted out. And had a few passing words. This new one talks with what kind of sounds like a growl. Imagine a growly talky ooooooo from the back of her throat. No words, no howls. My other one would howl for us and we would all howl sing on car trips. He was a small boned boy and she is a big boned girl . She outweighs him by almost 20 pounds. She was also a rescue, we saved her from going to the pound. Both Huskies growled and showed teeth at me over food a couple of times and I have no doubt if I had pushed it with the new one I would have been bitten. These are NOT NOT NOT first or second time dog owner dogs. This channel didnt tell everything and neither have I. Do loads of research before considering one. If you have cats or little kids get a puppy so they can get used to each other. Do not get a grown one unless you know how they act with kids and cats. But if you get one and you can do it all please rescue. Actually , why not become a temporary husky rescuer just to see how it goes. You may never get to wear dark clothes again because they shed white fur. I gave up my black shirts...But that boy in my picture was worth it to me. Please get them fixed . There are soooo many out there needing homes. Our new one was going to be sent to a kill shelter if we didn't get her. The foster homes for Huskies were all full. They still are. Its a good place to start. Do not hit them, they dont forget and will become aggressive or completely scared all the time. This is hard work . Its an awful big dog to bathe too. Go watch some husky videos of other people with huskies, and husky behavior. Call some husky rescues and learn all you can. And then watch training videos by good trainers like McCann. Some of the best dogs i EVER had were plain mixed breeds. Consider them too. Have a great day.

Our husky has the same personality as my son! Moody, picky with food and won’t go out in the rain but he’s the best!
xD they say dogs are like their owners
Omg my husky hates the rain to lol ... he'll not eat and drink till it stops so he doesn't have yo go in the rain 🤣

I used to have a husky...she passed away from cancer, she also had heterochromia and she was very intelligent, no matter how far she went, she always found her way and would scratch the door. I miss her
Edit: ah...thanks for the kindness and all. I really appreciate it and to the others who've lost a special doggie in their lives, I'm sorry and hope they're resting peacefully above the clouds
Edit #2: haha the funny thing is I didn't get a chance to say goodbye because my mom already took her to get put down (^~^;)ゞ
I love ur todoroki profile
I miss mine too.
May your dog rest in peace 😔😔😔
Ignore Me I’m so sorry to hear that! ❤️
I'm getting a Siberia husky soon and these facts help me
These facts are not all correct. Come read my long message and other comments from husky owners
You better read up. You can have mine free!
have u got one
Just got one last night only few months old and trying get it trained like my other dog that was raised came out to be a good dog but getting this husky seem to be a challenge already not liking the crate starts to make noises soon I leave the room when got sleep lol but going be fun tho
Be prepared for the fact that you'll be lucky if they live past 10 years. Still worth it though.
As a long time husky owner, I feel sorry for so many them because they don't have good owners. Huskies are strong willed and can be very stubborn. They also love to hunt. They require very much exercise. It helps to have a big contained yard. Fun and very friendly. Not a good guard dog.
Exactly correct you are
Tysm im going to raise a baby husky next week
I have a baby husky and for the moment she don't like walk.Maybe it's because she's young ?
@@luciegouverneur8668 Huskies are cautious and moody. What they really like is chasing when they are in the mood. And they will tell you when they are ready.
grew up w huskies, feel the same. many people can’t provide enough room, exercise or companionship.

I know I miss my Husky more than words can describe....best companion I've ever had (except for all the times he ran away).

Me: looks at my husky* that’s how your supposed to act you are too silly and lazy
My husky: howls*
I have a Siberian husky and this breed is also known as escape artists. Ours has gotten out of the hard so many times we've lost count. They can jump or dig to get through a fence. They are hard to walk because they pull constantly and never get tired. They're also very stubborn and willful. They also don't do well with cats and other small animals because they want to eat them. Other than that they are great dogs, tons of personality and good with kids.
my husky always escapes< i can never let him off the lead when i take him for a walk or he takes off on me.
My Husky is always off lead never escapes and doesn’t pull, none of mine have.
Watching this as my two seppala siberians are hogging my king sized bed, and feeling so much love and gratefulness even as I'm hanging off the side
Such a majestic breed of dog. It has the best of both worlds, guard dog and a loving pet.
Huskies are not guard dogs. Not even a tiny bit. They are nomad dogs and will not typically defend a territory. To the contrary, they will shower any stranger breaking into your home with love and affection.
I love Siberian Husky they are so cute
Siddartha Chakraborty follow my husky ❤️
Siberian Husky are my favorite dogs. I had a Siberian Husky when I was about age 10 and he was very protective of me. I wish that I owned a Siberian Husky now for many reason why.
I need a puppy for adoption
If you heart longs for a husky, then do take a job, where you can take a husky. Do not let your heart be empty. Just be that boy again of 10 years old and take 2 of them. Bless you sir.🐾
I would recommend that people would watch Togo, that was the true hero during the medicine run in the time of Balto
When u walk them they pull like crazy, are escape artists and will keep running without looking back given the opportunity. Still love them though.

I know what you mean! lol
I have had Husky's for over 40 years. They are great protectors for the kids and can make good baby sitters. No other human will touch your child with them as baby sitters. In southern climates use a 1 foot deep hard plastic pool with 4 inches of water and they will keep their temp under control by walking or laying in it.
I'm the proud possession of a new to me, a 4-year-old BEAUTIFUL Husky named Odin. I've always had dogs. They're the best people I know.
Huskies are wonderful, loving dogs who get along with almost everybody. But they do have their drawbacks:
(Imagine a "Pepe Le Pew" cartoon come to life.)
6. Shed constantly. A lot. Your life will be covered in hair no matter how much you vacuum or brush.
(and plus one to all the points above)

Your forgetting, Togo, Fritz,-Togo’s half brother and Fox.
had a siberian, she was the best, loved her madly
They have lot of patience.. .. Love my husky.
Many including myself would disagree with you on that
Fact balto finished the run but togo is the real hero check out the facts and then comment on it..... Not a dig btw as there is very limited information on this but is true..
True it was Togo
I have my husky and I love him so much I have seen an increase of people getting them and I’ve seen an increase of abandoned huskies as well if you consider getting one they are a lot of work and require lots of attention they get bored easily don’t get one if you don’t have the time for them .
agree. live near seattle and see a lot of sad, anxious dogs both in shelters and on leashes where clearly the owners underestimated how energetic and vivid these dogs are. they NEED to RUN. often. and prefer to always have their pack with them…human or otherwise.
Life is NEVER dull with a Husky, and they own you as much as you own them !
and, they are the best chick magnets EVER !
Angel feathers. Who would be bothered by that? Not anyone I would want to know =)
Sam Loveless yes for sure!
70 ft. of hair a day?? I mean they definitely shed.. but let's slow down.. where are you getting your facts?? LOL 🐺
They do shed a lot when blowing their coats especially but 70 feet a day is a huge exaggeration. Right now they all have their winter coats so the shedding is minimal.
We have owned 4 huskies. They shed twice a year, for 6 months at a time.
Our neighbor has one. He hangs out by the fence and we play with him and offer treats. He is a beautiful and amazing dog. He loves to talk to us
I love em,thank you and God bless for this video
As close to a Wolf as you can get and still have a Pure Dog, not a Wolf/Dog Hybrid.
Sam Loveless i was lucky enough to have a husky/wolf hybrid, she was absolutely wonderful, intelligent, and sweet! Miss her a lot

I envy you 😢
My wife and I live in Nicaragua. We bought a White Serbian Husky and he is one of the smartest dog I have ever encountered. He is great with the kids also
Attached to point 8, something not nearly enough people talk about, and the reason I have a husky, is the GOT effect. When that TV show became popular, Huskies became the number one bred dog on planet earth, AND the most common dog in shelters in the US and UK. People who were fans of the show were getting them without an understanding of their time and energy requirements, leading to endless abandoned huskies.

I CANNOT WAIT TO BRING MY LITTLE BOY HOME!♥️
Already knew all of these so I was a little disappointed lol
But we just rescued a 9 month old red husky with ice blue eyes. She's so energetic and smart it's amazing.
glad to hear was a rescue and not from a low life breeder

My sibes are playful even at age 5, very affectionate and real clowns.
love this, thank you for making it and sharing it.. incredible creatures of creation x

@mixflip. hi friend how are you doing, nice to meet you, you look familiar are you from Cali 🤔🤔
My first Husky was a female named Wolf, she was the best dog, so smart and kind and gentle. My current is a Husky/Shepherd mix, he has more Husky traits though, he’s goofy and smart and talks like a Husky but also barks like a Shepherd. Huskies are the best dogs.
Getting my Huskypuppy today and I'm proud and happy about it!
How’d it go?
@@NFS305 Mr.Stanos my Insta, check it out bro

The husky loves to run
It's what huskies love to do the most. My parents had one and she got a bit grumpy in the winter when they chopped firewood. My dad had to hook a dog harness to a tiny sled and pile it with some logs. She was overjoyed and always loved ot pull it a measly 10 meters to the front door. They do get grumpy/sad if they can't pull anything.
What idiot would say it’s abusive to have a husky run?! They are genetically engineered to run and pull! They do it instinctively, for Gods sakes.
very interesting, highly informative ---- thx for uploading !!! 👍👍

I just rescued a Husky. I've named her Luna and I'm over the moon for her already.💗🐾🐾

I have a Siberian husky she is the sweetest thing ever
I love huskies... i want to have one in future
