To those who seem a bit annoyed that Savannah has immediately got another chance to become an undisputed champion after losing to Claressa- the fact is that Franchon called out Savannah when Savannah was in the ring immediately after her loss to Claressa. Franchon wanted this fight. The fact is Franchon is 36 and coming towards the end of her career and wants to make some good money. There were 3 big-ish fights potentially for her: Shadasia Green- very risky (Shadasia punches very hard) but not much of an audience or money for it; Claressa- a fight she would almost certainly lose, also not much demand for it; Savannah- again, risky but easily the best money out there, because women's boxing is more popular in the UK and Savannah is a popular fighter here. Also, quality-wise, I expect Savannah, to more than show that she belongs in the company of the current super-middleweight champion.

More like the fact that there is literally nobody else for her to fight. There are only about 7 or 8 females in boxing who are actually any good. And this is across all divisions. Look at Sheilds! Now that her thing with Marshall is done, she’s got absolutely nowhere to go. She had to fight a D level boxer in Cornejo

Crews has less skill, less power, defends with her face and has a terrible gas tank, so even if she starts well she'll be running on empty in the second half of the fight.
Crews earned her spot but skill wise both Shields and Marshall are at least a level above, Marshall stops Crews font let the slick talk fool you
I guess you didn't see Franchon against the mexican who beat her but the decision was overturned due to drugs. Marshall is the same height as the mexican was but she hits harder, is more accurate and has faster hands than the mexican did, all points to a Savannah Marshall win for me.

Hymm....she can definitely carry a tune. It started off a little shaky...pitch was a little off at first, but it was good towards the end. She has potential vocally, but it's probably hard to be "Great" as multiple things. Boxing probably takes up so much of her time and that's the career she chose.

Savannah is currently a clear favourite with the bookmakers: the average on oddschecker is Savannah to win 3/10, Franchon to win 10/3. Reasons for these odds- possibly that Savannah is a better boxer, punches harder (the 'hard-hitting diva' only has 2 stoppages in 10 fights, Savannah has 10 stoppages in 13 fights) and the fight is in England. If Savannah can use her skills and not get drawn into too much of a messy brawl, I see a comfortable points win. People have been quite harsh on Savannah regarding the Shields fight. To my eye, Shields raised her level significantly from previous fights, and gave possibly the best performance ever by a woman boxer.
Yes agree - spot on! I was critical of Sav and said she looked clumsy, but watched it back and actually she forced GWOAT to get out of 2nd gear. GWOAT is a bit above all these women, but Sav did well, and the fight showed she's got more to give.
Good points there. Plus they have another shared opponent Ashleigh Curry who Savannah knocked out in 3 rds. Crews-Dezurn won by decision. I'm leaning towards Savannah to win. Don't think Dezurn has enough power to cause Savannah too much trouble. She seems overweight at 168, as if she could lose enough pounds from around the belly to get down to 160 or even 154. So if she was shredded she might not be 168. Just the excess body fat gets her to that weight. That might be one possible reason she doesn't have many KOs because she's fighting opponents who have naturally heavier frames.
I wouldn't have complained if Savannah won that fight. It was a very close fight, maybe the best woman won but it extremely close regardless

How did she give best performance by a women boxer, when she was out boxed. She fought well, but Shields beat her by a good few rounds.
Finally a decent fight to look forward to on a Saturday night 💪 should be a good one.
I dont normally support American fighters against British fighters. But Franchon has really impressed me and you can see how much she wants it.

Savannah lost the fight against Clarissa, but made me a fan. They put on the best live women's boxing match I've ever seen, and frankly put the male game to shame. I hope both her and Franchon put on a great fight and get paid well. Come on ladies - can't wait.

@svh01 I saw Taylor Vs Serrano - great fight. Maybe there's bias on my part because Shields and Marshall fought in the UK, but their competiveness, high skill level, and grit and determination makes Taylor Vs Serrano look like a slugfest IMHO.

@@svh01 I did - great fight too. I'm probably biased, but the build up to Shields Vs Marshall and the resultant high level spectacle of a fight was easily the best fight of 2022.
It's was a one sided, fairly boring fight. Taylor vs serrano was much better I thought

I can see these two having a "chat" in the locker rooms after the fight, given the way they looked at each other. Now that would be a PPV!
Thing is, if you have a lack of confidence and people have to install that in you, what tends to happen is after a set back, you then start to question yourself all over again to the point where you have to front in order to make people around you believe you have all confidence in the world. Dangerous place for Savannah to be.
I agree somewhat savannah knows the fight wit clrissa wasn't as hard as she assumed it wud be clrissa boxed savannah was counter punching and got caught both times wen clrissa walked in and wen clrissa punched on the way out caught savannah off only cause of experience ...I believe if savannah fought clrissa again it'll be different but different can go both ways different....this fight will be a good punch up

For me Savannah has to box smart. Use her distance and jab Franchon up and down setttng up for the big shots. Not to engage in a fight like she did with shields at times.

Savannah loses again, her style is too slow which cost her against Shields losing the early rounds and can see the same happening again.
She was made to look a bit slow due to who she was fighting. I think this fight will be good and Sav will do well, but it's hard to predict a winner.

Franchon talks a good fight, she has built a kind of inspirational narrative, has at her fingertips various phrases and formulations that signal confidence and belief. She possibly listens to Savannah and doesn't hear similar and takes it as lack of confidence, lack of heart. But maybe Savannah is just a woman of a different temperament and culture, of few words, down to earth and matter of fact and who isn't too impressed or taken in by braggadocious motivational self-speech. Maybe she has a much confidence as Franchon- it just comes from a quiet, shrewd assessment of their respective strengths and weaknesses- in the ring.

I see Marshall so despondent here, like she’s there but not there just miles away. I don’t feel that it’s so much a different tactic than the one she gave with Clarissa but more like her spirits are low. Her opponent feels and sees this and even says if you want it you got to want it or something to that tune. Speaking to herself but meaning it for marshalI. I know Marshall doesn’t feel her most confident since her loss but it’s dangerous if she’s not in top game come fight night. Wish both wonderful ladies the best.
