Wife and I left May 15 and returned home June 22. Rode our 2022 Tri Glide 8,895.6 miles. Left home in NC and headed to Colorado to visit wife's daughter in Denver for a few days. From there to Washington State to visit wife's brother. Drove thru 25 states, thru every kind of weather. Met some very interesting people along the way. Saw beautiful scenery. Wish we had taken our time and took in more sights. States included NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, LA, TX, NM, CO, AZ, NV, CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, ND, IA, IL, IN, OH, KY, WV, VA and back in NC. What an adventure! When we arrived back in my driveway at 10:15 Friday evening I just started laughing! I was able to do what so many people hope to do and started on what I hope to be many more quests! Made memories for a lifetime. If at all possible, make that trip you dream about. Take the time, spend the money and head to that horizon. You'll never regret it!

We are planning a 3.6K mile trip starting July 5th, I'm 73 and the ole hen is a few years behind me in age :) Probably going to take upwards of three weeks. We're planning on doing the Beartooth Highway, The Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, then head North and do the Going to the Sun road from East to West.
Kevin, we have studied your videos on packing....Now we'll see how the plan works out :) 10 days to launch, on the 2020 Tri-Glide
Thanks for all the great videos.

That is an epic ride you have planned out! 👍
Beartooth Pass is in my top 5 roads, and it is Mary's favorite. CJSB and Going to the Sun are great also!
Glad you found the videos interesting useful. Compression bags (stuff sacks) and a magic marker really make things easier!
Wishing your guys a Fantastic trip making some really good memories. KP

Just finished an 8,200 mile trip starting in AZ to Ontario, CA to Wash DC on Run For The Wall. Wife flew into DC, then down to Myrtle Beach, back up to Long Island, up to Vermont, then west to Boulder, Co, and home. 32 days. 3rd time I've done this with my '21 Trike which just turned 50K miles. Biggest recommendation? Have a destination, but not a date to get there. A date makes you miss a lot in between! RFTW is scheduled no doubt, but wife and I would ride 5-600 miles per day to get to a friend's house and drive by places we'd like to stop at, but couldn't due to the commitment of friends taking time off and such. Take the 2-laners and enjoy the smaller towns! Less stress, less hassle. Call a friend when/if you're in the area.

Great information. Kevin’s tips are always welcome…like hearing myself think when goes on about some of his experiences. We too are enjoying our ‘23 Anniversary Tri Glide. Our inaugural trip was not that far. 5 nights at Americade this year riding the Adirondacks. Best money I spent is the stg 2 w/SE447 torque cam, Cobra 909’s….yes it’s an EPA SE tune with stock head pipe. It MOVES OUT and eats the mountains. The heat from the cat hasn’t roasted me yet…but as temps soars I’d expect more heat. Lots of future memories to be made, this is the best vehicle for long retired couples or just more packing & stability IMHO.
We still have our bought new ‘07 Roadster and restored ‘76 FXE for old school puttin’ and the joy that is freedom.

Last year we got to do our 4 corner run. Thats coast to coast and border to border! It had been put off due to the covid thing. We didn't do the certified run that you had to do in less then 30 days. That's just nuts. The 3 of us are all retired and agreed it would take what it takes. Turned out we would miss the 30 day deadline buy about two weeks.
Two of us started out from NJ. Me on my '20 Tri-Glide and my 83 year old buddy Pat on his 1986 Goldwing. (more about that later) Headed south to Key West keeping to back roads as much as possible. Picking up two guys going threw Fla. one of which, Brad and his '19 Tri-Glide would stay on the trip. Spent 2 days in Key West and hit a lotta rain both going down and coming back up.. June is their rainy season it seems. All in all we spent 6 days just going threw Florida. Stopped at a few old riding partners that moved south on the way to San Diego. Larry in the Fla pan handle and Mark in Louisiana who we would stay at his house twice. Once in Louisiana and again in Maine where he spends the summer with his 6 dogs. Going thru Texas we dropped down to Austin to see Pat's brother and then to San Antonio to see the Alamo and the River Walk. Continued up through Roswell because...well why not. Passed through White Sands for a quick stop. Drove to the dunes. You'd think it was snow drifts if it wasn't sooo damn hot. Made our way to Tucson where a cop followed us to the motel we stayed at. Seemed he had an old Goldwing and stopped us to just chat. In fact later that nite when he was off duty he came back with his wife to show her the old Goldwing and chat some more. Pat still keeps in touch with him. Coming down from the mountains into the San Diego area Pats Goldwing craps out. Of course this happened Saturday late afternoon. Any shop s closed or closing soon. Found an Indy that would take it in but couldn't promise anything. Next day we hit the San Yisidro Post Office as the 2nd point of the trip. Pat road bitch with me. Short end of that drama is he ends up getting a Spyder for the rest of the ride (he thought) Yes, we did try to talk him out of it. On the way back from the dealer it throws a code and goes into limp mode. Dealer takes it back the next day and finds a few codes about the brakes... that have nothing wrong. Swaps out all the sensors from a floor model. Clears all the codes. Good to go! Not. We head to Vegas because I wanted to do Red Rock Canyon. Beautiful ride! Do it if in the area. anyway about 3/4 of the way through it...The Can Am starts throwing codes again. This is Friday late afternoon. Find a dealer who, of course takes a look and finds over 40 codes! They're at a loss and say they will look at it Saturday. Saturday ends and they can't find anything. They cleared the codes, took it out for a ride and coded again. They're closed Mondays. So we're stuck in Vegas till at least Tuesday. Brad and I get up early and go to Red Rock Harley for an oil change. Nice dealer. Even washed both trikes for us. Pat has a plan A that if the dealer can't fix the Spyder, there was another Spyder on the floor. He decides that he'll trade the 1st one in on the 2nd one. Problem was the dealer wouldn't deal. Said he didn't want to get stuck with a bike the they couldn't find the problem with. Plan B...He calls his GF in Fla. and has her fly into Vagas for the rest of the week while Brad and I head north to finish the trip. Next point, Blaine, Washington. Small town maybe 50-60 miles north of Seattle right on the boarder with Canada. From there we went east to Sturgis as a R&R stop. Brad's never been so we hit a few gotta do tourist spots for him. Then off to Maine! To tell the truth, this is the most boring part of the trip. Even going though the desert is more interesting. It was literally ride till you need gas or stop for the nite. We decided to skip trying to go Chicago and took a short cut(?) thru Canada. Entered Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. Worked our way east with meeting up again at Marks place in Maine on the coast to spend a few days at. Raining, grey days the whole time. Left Marks place for the final corner, Madawaska. They have a real nice park there dedicated to all 4 corner riders that made the trip. Spent the nite up there as its an 8 hr trip one way from Marks. And raining...Did I mention the rain? We didn't see the sun again till we were almost back in Jersey! One thing Brad and I were impressed with was how stable the trikes are in the rain. Stopping, turns, nothing effected them much. Takes a lot of the stress out on long trips like this. We both noticed that at the end of a long day we weren't really beat up. It was a great bucket list trip. To anyone contemplating this trip. Take your time. Don't set any time constraints on yourself.
    Enjoy the ride!
Oh! Something I didn't mention was that Brad and I were both enrolled in the HD Challenge. We collected 15 dealer coins! And in the mileage challenge. We both go $150 Harley gift cards! Not bad for doing something you love. Helps pay for about one days gas and motel...lol

If people can do a coast to coast on a Sportster, I see no reason why a person couldn’t make it on a TriGlide. 😎👍

Riding solo, even with passenger suggest using a tracking app (if one doesn’t mind) . If there’s an accident or a medical emergency the app could send help and possibly save a life.

I suggest the Apple Watch Ultra as a safety measure. Cellular adds $10 a month to my cell plan and it can be stand alone device (no phone required). The suite of useful tools plus 2nd level GPS make it a companion. Better than the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” wearables 😂😂😂.

The iPhone 14 &15 will detect a crash and notify 911 and all of your emergency contacts. My wife and daughter knew I was in an accident before I did!!!😂

The wife and I were out riding and stopped at a truck stop in Tn on I 81 and a bike pulled in he was coming back from Sturgis it was about two weeks after it was over we asked him what took him so long he said he would ride down the road and see a road that looked good and would turn and just went the way the wind blows

That is a nice way to ride for sure! I recently went to Nevada and rode and I feel like I could have done the same thing. There were so many beautiful views and scenery. I certainly would have liked to have ridden more than we were able to. Maybe next time!!!!!

Excellent video thank you, are there any hotel / motel that are better for bike travel? Ever do a video on tips tricks for security, I know the bike physical locks , my question is more for ideas when at the motel lot. parking, keeping your ride safe when In unfamiliar territory? Next summer I plan on riding from nova Scotia to Kansas city. Thanks and have an excellent evening

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  21 день назад

That is a good idea for a video. Thank you! Enjoy your upcoming ride! 👍
Regarding hotel/motel choices...#1 priority for us is getting a ground floor room, where the door opens up to the parking lot where we can park right at our door. Well lit is important, as well as moving on if there is activity in the parking lot that is anything other than folks loading and unloading to their rooms. In our hundreds of motel room stays (mostly Super 8) we have never had any issues with the bikes being messed with. BUT, we have stopped more than a few times, not felt good about the place, and moved on. KP
