    I think it’s just the fact that Team USA practices together for like two months and these other countries put EVERYTHING into the possibility of beating us in the Olympics for years and even decades, practicing with the same (or similar) team for years and years, playing in all the FIBA tournaments together, etc. They get WAY more reps as a team than Team USA does - and that matters more than almost anything else… Team USA gets by with having the most dominant basketball players on the planet, save for The Joker. If Team USA had been playing together with this roster for years and had been through multiple FIBA tournaments together with hundreds and hundreds of practices…. No other country would have a shot. It wouldn’t be fair; and the NBA players don’t wanna do that… yet… they wanna play for the Finals and be superstars and earn their millions.
    But that may change in the future. Who knows… but I think the main thing is these countries having a few NBA-caliber players and a bunch that are CLOSE to NBA level, but that have thousands of more reps together than Team USA gets in those couple months after the Finals.

      Many of the things you wrote are not true or taken out of context. All other teams also get together for like two months every couple of years. It's mentioned in the video that Serbia did not have Joker for the last World Cup, so it's not true other countries have the same guys for years.
      Also, let's not ignore the fact USA has 300+ million people with pool of players that's equal to the rest of the world all together. Let's not ignore the fact that even having that kind of pool of players US team still had to recruit foreign player...

    We don't have a talent issue. We have a preparation issue, a priority issue, and teamwork fundamental issues. I blame the coaches and the association for this. If we don't win golds, It's because the people that run the league don't take the Olympics/World Cups serious enough. It's wasting talent. But to be fair. You cannot decide whose a real champion without sets. I wish It was more designed like the Playoffs & Finals.

    • @seanh8095
      @seanh8095 2 месяца назад

      I think the idea is that, because sports are relatively trivial, we should be able to come together to support our own country in an international sporting competition. Nationalism became a dirty word when it became USA good, everyone else bad. That said, ur able to root for anyone u want. Unfortunately, everything has become political these days though, so there will be those who judge.

    • @BrickDaniels-qu7bz
      @BrickDaniels-qu7bz 2 месяца назад

      The big problem with nationalism is that it insists that individuals are not sovereign - it insists that the state should come first and foremost. I wonder what the modern era really looks like. Which ideas are true? Which ones are held in the minds of the people? Who can say.
      I think individualism protects everyone. I suppose the opposite belief probably believes it is the one that protects everyone. Who can say?
      Cops don't have to care about you, the individual. That's probably why there's so much trouble. It's codified. People can sense these things too.
      I'd argue that people more look up to good sportsmanship. I don't think people look down on others for rooting for the other team. It sounds like people would have more of a problem with rooting against one's own country. It's like seeing cannibalism. Probably. Maybe. People are naturally going to be suspicious of such activities, lest they come for you next.

    First of all, if anyone thinks they know everything that goes into lineups, stop, you don't. And that damn sure includes me. But that said, my guess is this is supremely high profile theater of a situation, a case study in winning while making sure it looks the absolute best it can for all involved, fans certainly included. Kerr and co are beholden to a MUCH bigger cause, for example, than Tatum's minutes. And it's funny we're only hearing about Tatum's minutes... he is without question barring radical injury going to return to Olympic basketball, so he needs to be grateful he's got the opportunity to be part of what is arguably the greatest team ever assembled. And I'm not saying for a fact he isn't, but it isn't a good look in support of that when there's this much chatter about things like minutes when we're talking again about a team with the legit all-timers x GOATs that are on it. And while I'm sure he wants to be a contributing factor, as would any true athlete in this context especially, very few people care if he plays compared to getting to witness James, KD and Steph together. And pre-existing "soft x whiny" reputation aside, if all this is in fact something he is focused on, something he is legit upset about, he might as well kiss goodbye any hopes of being a cherished and deeply liked NBA player and any keys to any sociocultural thrones along with it, realistic aspirations to those aside, of course. Regarding Green's take (and I can't truly admit to caring what Green thinks about almost anything but it's in your video, so...), I'm assuming he chose the word "wrong" not "incorrect" on purpose. Wrong/right implies immoral/moral, while incorrect/correct would've implied illogical/logical. It might be wrong to lie but it isn't always incorrect to do so if it, for example, ends up saving your life in a threatening scenario. So it's not wildly unrealistic to think Green might've seen it as an immoral choice but still (silently) support it as the correct choice. Someone should ask him, though, because being a public figure and making bold statements has an effect he should be made to account for, meanings of words in the least. Did the US v Serbia matchup def feel like a gold medal game? Absolutely. I'd be shocked if the US v France matchup somehow topped it, all things considered. And you can bet EVERYONE is getting minutes in this one so calm down Tatumheads haha. But seriously, though, let's all try to stay grounded and truly appreciate what we are being given the intensely rare chance to witness. Until the doc film series drops, that is. 😎

    this is the best team usa ever but the talent gap compared to other teams is not nearly as big as the dream team or the redeem team, and starting from 2028 usa might not be guaranteed a gold medal anymore when lebron, curry and durant retire the usa are still gonna be favourites but in games like the one against serbia they won't have the luxury of relying on their overwhelming talent anymore and they're gonna lose, other countries are only gonna get better

    People make it as if Serbia was all this. Team USA beat them 3x this Olympics. Well, and good that Team USA had a wake-up call because they've been partying before GameDay vs. Serbia. Maybe now the NBA can stop propping these Europeans like they're the best in the NBA because they're simply not.

    I disagree, Team USA basketball will always have best talent simply bc the USA produces the best basketball by far due to our culture. France is never going to produce ballers like California, Chicago or Washington does. you could make an olympic team of California hoopers & they'd be just as stacked (maybe more stacked) as CAN. I have a French friend who played professionally in many leagues around the world but mainly in France & i'm literally just as good as him, meanwhile I was the 3rd option on my AAU team in high school. thus the above average American hooper at your local bar is just as good as a pro in another league. no country will ever produce basketball players like the USA, standing on that

      Do you understand that the Dream Team was playing against much worse teams? The Dream Team wouldn’t have beat all these teams by 60 points either. Now, old school NBA is more like FIBA play, and they had MJ in his prime, so they woulda definitely won gold, but it wouldn’t have been by the huge spread in 92. All the other countries have gotten better - that’s the entire concept of the argument… do you not understand what’s being discussed here?
