I laughed when I saw you looking confused at the start of the song. I love SOAD, and the song is great ...... play the album mezmerize from start to finish, and then it's not so weird! Enjoyed again an excellent honest review. It made you think, it made you laugh too!
Yes! Listening to a SoaD album is always such a wild ride. I love it! There are barely pauses to breathe between the songs, and everything is just chaos...structured chaos.

yeah "all over the place" is a good way to describe soad.
Apparently Danny and Lisa are the guitarist's childhood friends and the song came about when he saw himself in an old birthday party video. That might be related to the strong Eastern European elements. I wonder if those were added to remind of his childhood: his Armenian parents could have listened to that style of music. Then they decided to add SOAD elements as well and the result jumps around a lot. At least that's how I imagine it could have happened.
Spot on with the Mr. Bungle comparison, also it's funny that you would mention that because Mike Patton is one of Serj's biggest influences (as well as Frank Zappa and others)
also, I am a huge SOAD fan but I really appreciate your pure genuine honesty with your reviews and thoughts on their songs. definitely agree that a lot of their stuff slowly grows on you with each listen and can be really jarring to hear on your first listen.
SOAD is the most unique band ever. Masters of chaos. Music is crazy, but genius. Serj Tankian is the greatest vocalist in metal in my opinion. Lyrics may be meaningless - or are they? :)
One of my favorite bands, never cease to amaze me.
I had the chance to see them live once in my life in 2016 and I will never forget it as long as I live.
I wasn’t a fan of theirs for a long time until like you said I listened to them a lot. They mix punk, metal, dance and folk amazingly. If you look into their Armenian background and how the found each other is a great story.
This is absolutely my favorite song from SOAD. Hope it grows on you lol love the honesty.
Please do more SOAD songs, there's so much variety and dynamics in their music. In my opinion they don't have one band song but i'm just a fanboy :)
Great honest review DH! You’re dead on with the Mr Bungle influence. First thing I noticed when I heard SOAD. In fact, most of the Nu Metal bands from that era were heavily influenced by FNM and Bungle.
Bungle also took me a bit to get into but obviously now I love them and see the genius.
This will grow on you for sure! Keep listening! You will totally love rockin out to it and feelin the groove
I’ve been listening to my Mezmerize vinyl on a loop for the past couple of days. I knew there were good songs but it’s been growing on me more. It’s their shortest album, only 36 min. And they won a Grammy for BYOB

Can you put me on the requesters list for System of a Down's song ''Question!'' what an absolutely incredible song that is. Great reaction, I definitely understand your decision for the score and I can absolutely confirm that it gets better with each listen. I didn't like this song on my first listen at ALL, but I really like it now and understand it better.

SOAD is so weird. You love them or you have them. But they never came out with a better album than toxicity. That was thier best album.

The channel is 100% request driven, I don't pick anything. Everything I react to and review is a request from a viewer of the channel. It was actually the only request I received for Thrice, there are currently no more requests in the que for anything else from Thrice.
You should listen to Alexander the Great by Iron Maiden from their Somewhere in time CD. The best of Maiden in my opinion.

Could you please react to HammerFall - Keep the Flame Burning or Heeding the Call, They are one of the biggest bands in Sweden, their music is very old school but super catchy and fast

I don’t know if my mind is tricking me but your rating song kinda sounds like Delete by Killing Joke
It's actually one of our songs that didn't make the final cut for the studio recording of our second album. It ended up on the cutting room floor, even though I thought it had a lot of potential. I asked our management if I could use it for the channel, and I was given permission to use it as long as I didn't distribute it.

Most soad songs need a little seasoning on the ears before learning to appreciate them. They’re a lot like Indian food in that respect.

Today, what was once called ADD is now categorized as an innatentive form of ADHD (aka a non externally hyperactive form of ADHD)

But, I mean… people will still call it ADD.
People, including myself, still say that I have Asperger's, but it’s just called being autistic nowadays, all of it falls under the autism umbrella.

Honestly i love system but they have some bad songs and this has always been one of them for me.
