Lead vocal on this one was Daron. Serge is the background vocals and harmonies

Daron Malakian - Guitarist. He always did backing and second vocals. On the last double album, he got more space and sang lead vocals on more songs.
He even has his own band: Scars on Broadway. It would definitely be worth listening too...

Pretty sure the drummer for SOAD was also in Scars On Broadway as well. I really enjoyed their first album.

@@donaldchapman4312 Only on the first album. Daron did all the instruments on the second. Scars is awesome. Saw them live a few years ago and they blew the roof off the place.
Sorry for the language! Family Friendly!

Love this song. Great slowdown after the rest of the album.
For context, the guitarist, Darron, takes the lead in this song and Serj does the harmonies.

Daron actually has the lead vocals on several songs on their last two albums and he sings 50/50 with Serj on the other songs

Daron took a much bigger role in vocals for the Mezmerize and Hypnotize albums. He also has a band called Scars on Broadway which is pretty great.

One of my favourites from them some of their best vocal harmonies. They have a few chill songs that are simple but effective

SOAD have two vocalist I would say, as Daron takes vocals in a lot of their songs.

Brian May is a great singer, but was overshadowed by Freddie Mercury.

Another example of the guitarist having some lead parts or nowadays, full lead vocals; Alice in Chains.

You've done at least 10 SOAD song reactions yet didn't know Daron sings on a lot of the songs. I'm not mad, I'm just genuinely surprised you never realized Serj and Daron shared the mic on lots of songs.

This song ends the album, and it makes the song sound better listening to the hole album. Love this song, great reaction as always. Greetings from Brazil.

I remember when that Album came out I was real young .. I picked up my guitar 🎸 to learn the songs on that album .. 20 years later I can pick up my guitar and still able to sing this song and play all the way through.. play it so much back then that it’s still in me to play it effortlessly.. I was obsessed wit Mezmerize/Hypnotize album/s 😂

It's not Serj in the lead vocals here, it's Daron, the guitar player. ☺️

My favorite albums by SOAD is Mezmerize and Hypnotize, their last 2 albums, and a big reason to that is that Daron is singing a lot more! The best parts is always when they sing in harmony or keep switching lines! This is not the best example of it in my opinion, it’s more stuff like Kill Rock n roll, Sad Statue and Question! that does it for me🤩

Not sure if anyone said it in detail, though I seen ppl mention Daron doing more vocals the album, but there’s also a reason, and it ties the absence of new system material. Serj was absent from the studio most of the recording, and it was up in the air if he was going to return to the band or not, so system put their best foot forward and did what they had to do. Serj wound up coming when the album was near completion and laid down some tracks and much of the vocals from daron stayed put, with Serj harmonizing. Kind of stinks, in my opinion, as for me, alot of the stuff sounds like nails on a chalk board. I’m not a fan of daron singing leads, but this song I do enjoy his vocals.

    Late to the party…
So I agree that from what SOAD typically does this is way outta left field and probably not what to expect when clicking into SOAD, and without putting it into the context of the album, so as a standalone it may not have the same impact.
When you reach the end of the Mezmerize album, this is a much needed palate cleanser after some seriously heavy songs (e.g., BYOB, Cigaro, Question!…)
Lost in Hollywood is the closing track and from that end it is a perfect way to end the album. It’s one of my favourite tracks - to me it feels like a major turning point in terms of artistic style without it being enraging or off putting. I’m also a weird one though, as Mezmerize is my favourite album, yet for many this is their least favourite.

Hmm… I’m not sure if you’re up for it, I’m not your subscriber or a follower but did watch quite few videos and I like the template. I would love to see your impression on Machinae Supremacy in your channel. It’s SID-metal (that’s how they call it) the song I would like you to listen to is “All of my Angels”. Take care man, you are doing a good job .)

This definitely isn't my favorite SOAD song so I was confused why everyone seems to love it. Agreed, it's not bad, it's good, but not their best. Of the 2 Hollywood songs, I like Old School Hollywood much better.

Is there a reason why you dont analyze or even talk about the lyrics whatsoever? Because this song's lyrics are very important to the song in my opinion.

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  8 месяцев назад

I don't do lyrics, I can't grasp them and they go over my head. So I focus on what I do know, which is the music itself.
