Respect to the classy byu fan comments here! Great game! As a long time KU fan I’ve rarely experienced this level of class from other fans. With any luck your fans will help show the Big 12 that it’s possible to have a great win and maintain some level of respectfulness and grace. 😉 Also, apologies for Hunter. Hopefully Self will straighten him up on that crap asap!
What an honor to play in a historical basketball venue with numerous national championships. To beat a team of this caliber is an honor. Cheers to the kids that played for BYU, as a BYU fan.
Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the win last night. BYU plays a fun brand of basketball. Look forward to many more fun games moving forward and visiting you all at your place. We are very blessed to get to play in Allen
That was a really good press conference. I thought his insight about the opponents offense and his teams defense were really interesting! He seems like a pretty genuine coach who defends the game.
Met Bill Self years ago when he was awarded the Wooden Award, The John Wooden Award for coach of the year. It was in SL, he had just helped Tulsa have a record season, on his way to Kansas. One of the nicest men, and classy is the word, as I had the chance to drive he and his wife to and from the airport. Will never forget his great communication and manners. Great guy. Go Cougars, one of the better victories along with winning at Gonzaga. Might be a fun March.
I thought I was a Bill Self fan but now there’s no question, he’s a tremendously classy individual and a hell of a coach. His body language, his tone and patience are great to see. I would send my son to play for him without blinking!
Most unintelligent game I've ever seen a Bill Self team play. Way too much talent on this team to lose at home to a team like BYU. On to next year. Unfortunately, Self is going to have to go find a whole new team again, and we see the results of that this year. McCullar, Furphy, and probably Dickinson are gone. No matter how good the freshmen coming in are this team is going to be really light for depth and offense again. Imagine how KY looks every year only not as much freshman talent. That's what next year will look like for KU.
Self is a great coach and a class act, and Kansas is very good. They’d likely best BYU in an NBA-like playoff series, but at No. 7 they are quite overrated. They belong down in the No. 13 - 15 range. Unranked Texas Tech beat them 79 - 50 and they lost to a West Virginia team whose record is 9 - 19. They’re the highest ranked team now with 7 losses, 5 of those coming to unranked opponents. They do have quality wins, but they’re so inconsistent.
This is a crawling out from under a rock comment. What happens to any team that looses their best player and a potential AA at that? This is also a team that has beaten three of the four projected #1 seeds. Can any other team make that claim?
@@johnlee7085 I’m a ku fan. They have good wins but worse losses. UConn was missing two starters when ku faced them. The only truly great game we have played this year was against Houston. Early season wins mean nothing in march, and without mccullar this team has 3-4 seed talent tops 🤷🏿♂️
@@johnlee7085 McCullar Jr. played in the vast majority of their losses, including to 9 - 19 West Virginia and several other unranked teams. But let me answer your question: What happens to any team when they lose their best player when they already have been inconsistent on the court, and start to look worse on the court? They should drop in ranking to 13 - 15 and not be a Number 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. If I crawled out from under a rock, you’re still living under one.
This season was decided when Coach Self took all 3 scholarships reductions this year. Instead of 1 per year. They were always going to be shorthanded this season.
That wasn't the plan. He just couldn't find enough transfers that were good enough to fill the 9 scholarships he ended up with in his lap. So, the scholarships not being filled this year wasn't a choice. It just happened to work out that they could because there wasn't enough transfer talent that made sense to offer them.
better having missing scholarships because of ncaa sanctions than not finding any players to fill those scholarships spots, we had to get marcus adams jr in october to fill 1 of our 3 missing vacancies
The season was also influenced by 2 recruits being headcases and bailing before school even started, not to mention the former player being led by his pecker.
I never thought I’d see the day where Kansas finishes 4th or 5th in conference. They likely will be one and done in tournament. Simply put, they’re not deep enough and may lose their last 4 games.
This dude gets so red after losing. I remember when Kentucky came into Allen field house and blasted the hawks by 20 and it looked like self was about to spontaneously combust lol
It's not what you do before you come to the school, it's what you do after you sign the honor code. And for heaven's sake, they're on a basketball court. They wear basketball jerseys when they're playing basketball. Why so much judgyness?
Bill Self is all class. Much respect coming from a Cougar fan
Agreed

Amen. My thoughts exactly as I watched this. Such a classy individual and interview here.
to be honest, he didn't give BYU much props. He just said his team played terrible.
Coug fan here. Much respect to Kansas. Cheering for you here on out.
Thanks for the kind words. BYU is a great addition to the league and plays a fun brand of basketball. Best of luck to you all as well

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a classier coach in a loss. I’m a huge cougar fan and am now a Kansas fan because of Bill Self.

Man much respect for Self from a BYU fan. Rooting for Kansas the rest of the way

I love the way he answers questions, seems like a good guy, even after a tough loss.
Win or lose Coach Self is first class
I thought I was a Bill Self fan but now there’s no question, he’s a tremendously classy individual and a hell of a coach. His body language, his tone and patience are great to see.

Very Nice Coach! All Class!
He’s saying Hunter was a no show and he’s right. And Hunter’s T was childish and classless.
What a class act this coach is!!!
What a pleasure for BYU to play a class act team like Kansas. I thought BYU was done, but thankfully we got the win from such a talented team, Kansas.
I am a BYU fan and am very impressed with this press conference. An icon in the business and a classs act!
Same here! I agree! Go Cougars!!!
I met Bill Self when my son attended his high school summer basketball camp. He is the real deal!
Great Coach! Hope the Jayhawks are long for the Tournament. Go Cougs!
No 3 point shooting + no bench = short tourney stay
We need Kevin back and it’s starting to look like we won’t get him. This has been a rough year
Need furphy shooting 7-8 3s a game. Less Dickinson mid range
i like bill self
This loss hurt. This one hurt.

@kuhwks Gotta get the right transfers too. He knows he did a bad job building this team this year

Coach it wasn’t about not making 3’s. Your team made almost no shots of any kind thru the first 15 minutes of 2 nd half.
Give credit to Coach Self. Very classy from a long-time Cougar!

KU has always had a problem against teams that shoot the 3. This is nothing new, my only gripe with bill.

We need furphy to be shooting 7+ 3s a game. Eliminate Dickinson midrange it’s a stupid shot
Kansas was in the double bonus by like the 15 minute mark...not the 11 lol
BYU came from the WCC you know that conference that's every one say's is really weak !
So they actually left the WCC because it was strong??
Great game coming from a BYU fan

Kansas got everything they deserved with their flopping and buying the refs. They did all that and still lost 😂😂😂

And yet here you are!
Noah Waterman definitely had premarital sexual relations. But for real, since when is showing tattoos at BYU allowed?
