That 6.2 looks great in the 57 Chevy!!!
@robbylayton When are you all driving through Iowa, or have you guys been through already?
@@outlaw26aow61 24:26
Hi @RobbyLayton I’ve been watching your channel for some time now and I see y’all are at summit racing in Ohio and would like to no if I could meet you and hillbilly there b4 y’all leave
you just made that car junk with that just LS nice job should of put an 383 small block small block chevy not that LS that can use ford and dodge parts
This is a donation to hillbilly’s lunch fund! That guy is salt of the earth! Can’t wait to see y’all drive that thing back to Utah 🤙🏼
Bracketry... this is why I love listening to Hillbilly talk. And, for those of you who think Hillbilly made up that word in his unique hillbilly way, bracketry is actually an automotive term for the mounting hardware used to hold one part to another on a vehicle. I love it! Hillbilly, Robby and Demery ROCK!!!
I love Hillbilly. He's true, authentic and un-rehearsed. Just like most of us viewers.
I am so impressed with "Hillbilly's" knowledge and how he explains what he is doing and why. He's an "automotive intellectual."
@@theamerican8337I have to fast forward through most of what he says just because I can’t stand all the extra crap he says or tries to say anyhow.
That giggle at the end! You guys seem to be having the best time, who needs to vacation on a beach when you can play with motors.😊
Robby what a wonderful video ! I can't wait for you to drive this cherry Chevy home so you can take it apart and do what you do best... Bodywork ! This barn find has a new life and years from now Lincoln could be the most popular kid in high school ..... Thanks again to you, Hillbilly and the Boss !
What do you mean cherry ?, It's a shitter with some shiny parts bolted to it, as an add for summit racing. You need to take off your beer goggles matey.
Hillbilly is amazing 🎉Congratulations on the build y’all! The car is looking better then ever. Can’t wait to see it rolling.
Thank you hillbilly for all the work that you've been doing. Earlier in the video it looked like Demarie wasbored. Awesome video! 😊
Lol...I saw that too! The "Boss" looking sooo bored.
Hill Billy may not be the best at delivering his thoughts and actions, but he has more knowledge packed in that brain of his than a brain surgeon does.
Yep, for sure.
The man Hillbilly !!!
That’s one of the dumbest statements on RUclips
His brain is WAY faster than the speaking part can keep up with. But the man's getting more smooth in delivery as he allows himself the time to convey the genius inner workings. True story this man is a treasure.
Hillbilly rocks.
Good job with the descriptions Hillbilly. You’re getting better at describing the work you are doing, and you are demonstrating your experience and expertise.
0:32 that tackle comment from Hillbilly was so needless, random and absolutely hilarious.😂😂😂 Andy us really taking care of you and making things smoother to install.
The jazz hands at 6:52 was too!😂😂😂
Okay, a couple comments, first off I agree with Hillbilly about a shop apron, except for in the kitchen, I tend to wear an apron when I'm doing any projects around the house. Secondly, I love those wheels, they remind me of the Crager (or however it was spelled) mags that were the coolest things on the road back in the day, chrome wheels were ok, but mags were the real deal. Can't wait to see what this Chevy looks like when you get done doing your magic. Also tell Summit Justin that his doppelganger, who is the son of one of my best friends, lives in Spokane Washington.
What a rare opportunity to do a meet and greet with local fans.. Summit Racing cookout before heading on the road. Make it happen 😊😊😊. Maybe even a knuckle buster road trip. 😊😊😊
Someone put a flare fitting on backwards on that short piece. That's an amazing tool, and wish I had one like it, but ya gotta be smarter than what you're working with. Be careful when put things together, that both pieces are facing the right direction.
Amazing how much has been accomplished in a week on this resurrection of a Classic!
The calibration with Summit is what any GM car guy could ever ask for! I just wish you could break the LS engine in there before the 2000 mile journey back home! God speed when that time comes. Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...
I hope they tell us the grand total cost of the SUMMIT parts used here.that L.S looks nice in there!
Tighten bolts with the BOX side of the wrench, not the open side. Better grip. I love this build. Great channel.
A 6.2 Hillbilly, just think of the burnouts it will do. Great video guy's, I can't wait to hear it running. That sweet summit exhaust is going to be music to our ears.
“All this room we have for activities”. I love a good movie reference!
Soooooo sick this 57 is coming back to life, keep it up guy's.
After reading the comments there are lots of praise for Hillbilly, and well deserved. Both, Robby and Hillbilly are living a dream with all these Summit parts, and the boss has her team under control. Amazing experience.
You all are doing a great job modernizing that 57 Belair...
looking foreword to seeing the trip back to your home base..
Justin, Robby, Hillbilly and of course Demri, you guys are really
Something... Good Luck on the Trip!!
Hillbilly is a car genius, this build is awesome as I'm a Chevy enthusiast can't wait to see the roadtrip home, then all the chassi & body restoration to make her beautiful on the outside, great video thank's for sharing ❤😎👍
Robbie you need to screen print an apron that has hillbilly on it. I would buy one.
This is literally my dream car. Couldn’t imagine getting the chance to cross country road trip it! Wicked cool!
Hillbilly….you rock, 👍🏼👍🏼 and y’all have the most entertaining/informative videos.🤓thanks for your time..😎
When you are working with extra thick oils, just heat the oil in a microwave for 1 or 2 minutes, until it is hot enough to lower its viscosity!
My favorite build on your channel so far Robby. Cannot wait until you get it back to Utah and are able to start the body work.
Armor Shield is the real deal (and the special price is a great deal). I put it on my new Tahoe 4 years ago and have been very pleased with the shine and water repellency thought it would be a good time to reapply.
We did this with a 1963 Sedan deVille Cadillac in about 1977... Minus all the money, parts and propper shop tools and environment. We were in my side yard, all dirt, in west Phoenix, in Summer. We made it to Flagstaff. I've never left!
Robby and the gang it's really coming together nicely so far. Really cool. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Hillbilly is getting it done like a chief!
Great job by everyone; divide and conquer is the way with so much knowledge, skill and talent on the team.👍
When you get back to your body shop I don't want to see anybody work except for fixing the holes. Clear coat everything else the frame and everything clear-coated. That patina is beautiful.
It's looking amazing. You guys, I watched the engine install last night. The start up sounds great. The rebuild is going so well. So much hard work that will pay off
Hillbilly I'm proud of you!!! You're getting A LOT better talking on camera!! Great job
Summit's video is already up! Don't miss it.
if you cut a groove into the screws then spray lube on it let it sit they come out nicely
Justin? is a riot! It really is amazing how much you can do when you have all the stuff you need right there in the shop.
I wish I could have came by summit and said hi to you guys while you were there I only live 20 minutes away
Awesome! Bumped into you Wednesday. It was good to see you all and the progress of the '57. (Yes - it was good to see Justin also...LOL)
The engine is so dwarfed in the bay ! I loooove the stance of the car while driving, it could be idling around the corner- but the look - wuh !
Loved this vid! I just watched the engine install on Summit's channel and it hit me why Justin seems "familiar". In the intro he looks somewhat like and sounds a lot like Ian Johnson from Extreme Off-Road, etc. So much so they could be related. In a way I wish Summit had a lot of these items for the old school (F)SJ Jeeps; it would make my life so much easier! Ah well. I'm really looking forward to the road trek back to Ephraim! Safe travels 😎👍
You guys are without a doubt, Truly amazing!!
I’m so glad that I found @RobbyLayton on RUclips! I enjoy watching your videos! It was when this 1957 Chevy Bel Aire was found in the barn when I started watching you and subscribed to your channel! This build is my dream car! Y’all are completely awesome! Keep up the great work that you do!
The year I was born, Dad bought a brand new. white over turquoise blue, 1956 Chevy Belair 4 door that had the gas filler in the fin. I was funny to watch the service station attendants look for where to put the gas in (this was in the day when you did not or in some states COULD not pump your own gas!).
Robby, you can push all the lug studs out; and replace them with the correct size for the rotors.
30+ years as a mechanic, I've always used silicone on the diff cover and put gear oil in right away. Never waited and never had any problems
Exactly! So much misinformation in this series, like the engine trans and rear end all being junk. WTH! You were using the clutch to slow the car I believe everything was fine. Body shops shouldn't try to do mechanic work apparently.
@@luketitchenell1263why don’t you tell us how you really feel
Already looks cool 😎 with the wheels on ! Can hardly wait to see it on the road
All these guys are mechanically gifted. Hillbilly not only has knowledge he has mechanical intuition in his Arsenal.
I’ve been a fan of Automotive tv programming since I was little. I’ve seen a few great hosts an programs …. Robby if you ever have the chance to have your own show bigger then U-toobs , DO IT !
I'd love to see Hillbilly's mind build a ratrod. He basically has an encyclopedia in his head of what random old parts work together even if they probably shouldn't, and an odd sense of "junk style" that make me positive the final results of the build would be epic. The Bronc⭐️ is kinda his offroad ratrod, but i mean something for on road, even if it's a family hauler he'd make it cool.
I love the patina on that car, but with your talent I think you should do a nugget type build on that Beauty.
You guys are plugging along. Great work guys!
Happy 4th🎉🤙😎
Matt is in the groove with excitement for the build. I like that.
I watched the summit racing episode. It was like watching power Nation. Not used to you being all business. Like cutting the backside of a mullet. Shows how much of a professional you are sir
The end reminded me of a movie Tommy Boy. "did you eat paint chips as a kid?" lol You guys kicked ass this week.
Love your show,I watch all the time,Keep up the good work.
Hopefully you get to stop off at some car shows on the way across the country!
I love your 57 series its been fun watching especially the fact that I live just north of you in Aurora, Ohio and I’m very familiar with Summit racing. It would’ve been fun to have a chance to do a meet and greet with you for the fans here on the east side of the United States.
Robbie’s wife looks soo thrilled to be there
You should’ve put a six speed standard in there. Would’ve been a lot more fun. And you were at that point where you could’ve done anything what a shame. I set up Kreggers would’ve been nice too. Lol
No matter who you are no matter what you like be it a Ford a Chevy a Dodge Toyota or Honda it does not matter. This has been extremely impressive. Looking forward to the next video.
Could not leave a pic but in Matt’s off-road Vedic he just posted, his customer walks up sporting one of your shirts. Lol
Seen. The engine build ,, love it 🎉🎉 😅😅 the LS is going to rattle the rust right off the 57 😂😂 ❤
That's already looking like a new car. So very cool.
HOT DAMMMM!!!! HILL BILLY KILLING IT!!!!!
Hill Billy has come along way with his editorial and the Boss is more involved!
11:00 Demri thinking, "I miss my babies. And I'm sooooooooo happy they're not here."
Keep up the good work love watching you on RUclips
And the engine video was yesterday! It was awesome!
Robby and Hillbilly are both good teachers very intelligent
This is soo cool thank you because it brings back working on the 53 mercury new rings and hand grind the valves.
Let's see. New engine, drive train, suspension, wheels and tires. I wonder if the car can make the 2,000 mile run? Might be kinda sketchy?
Hillbilly knows the mechanics code well! "Anything is a hammer if you use it wrong enough. Unless it's a screwdriver, then it's a chisel"
Channel locks as hammer and screwdriver as chisel 😂
Side note, this car would be sick as a "bare metal Bel-Air"
WOW, Robby is really making it happen. Does anyone smell a Discovery Channel show?
Everyone loves packing bearings! Have you ever tried using a needle fitting on the grease gun?
That clip of Justin being the engine at the end...😂😂😂
I have been anticipating this build since the first vid about it hit.... Awesome
@12:56
Robby is the first RUclipsr to pack bearings by hand the way I was taught in Grade 9 Auto Shop over 40 years ago.
Not sure what Hillbilly is doing. 🤣😂
Hey robby nice job on greasing the bearings next time flip the bearing over your doing it backwards, it works the way you did it but the opening is bigger on the other side.
I didn't know the 57 Chevys were so cool. The gas filler neck is the coolest feature I've seen. Who knew?
So, they get this machine. Then they fully disassemble it and give it the full body rebuild, including new patch panels and stuff like Paul preempted with the body swap on The Nuggie. This will be worth a million when it's done.
Make sure to honk and wave when you pass through northern Indiana!
If u got a welder tack a couple plates on to your skids just enough so when they wear u can cut rheum off and add a few new ones if not they won’t last long if the are scuffing the ground
Making good progress guys - interesting watching the mods to the 6.2 as you put it together. Great job Hillbilly.
Awesome video, Happy 4th of July everyone 🦅🇺🇸🦅🎉🎆🎇✨🦅🇺🇸🦅
Best wheel choice EVER for that car!👍👍
I really enjoyed this video ! Yall summit is Great !! Super cool to see yall partner up with them for this !
Great job! And a great video series! Looking forward to more!
Sure wish I knew when you were rolling thru KC I live a mile off I70 and would love to see the 57 roll by
Summit racing and Robby Layton that's some homerun on the p.r. get some yeah get some
I approve of your wheel choice. Few wheels are more classic or vintage looking than a set of 'Muricans.
Looks like Robbie had a LS baby while installing it
You guys are awesome. Love your Chanel. I'm in Streetsboro Ohio we have a camp sites at tuckaway lake tomorrow night we are having a awesome fireworks show it starts around 8 .it would be awesome to meet you and hillbilly.
Just want to juice the algorithm and let you know you're putting out some great content Robby.
Jason's
laugh is infectious.
Guess I should of watched this before the Summit vid. It's better to see you guys be yourselves on your vids! 🤙
In the past I taught engineering students about bearings. I'm glad to see you are wearing gloves while handling the bearings. Another way you can pack a bearing is to put it into a recloseable plastic bag with the grease. Do not wash a new bearing in a parts washer prior to packing grease in it. NEVER touch the bearing surfaces with your bare hands. The acids in your skin attack the metal. And never drive a bearing in with an impact tool such as a hammer. Doing the installation that way can put flat spots on the bearing surfaces. This is called brinelling. When putting a bearing into another part always press on the outer ring(race). If you are installing a bearing on a shaft, press on the inner ring(race). To prevent injury, never spin a bearing using compressed air. Doing this can cause the bearing to explode, throwing parts in every direction.
Robby D Sparks has become one big sponsorship channel. Bummer, this channel started out so cool.
