I want a d6 10A model tractevator new or used i dont know four sure but i think my late fathers d6 tracevator was a 1958 and if built new it needs to be direct drive
Cat used to set themselves above the rest. But not now there all equal. Yet cat expects higher prices. I've got 2 year old cats that the rams are breaking in half. The dealer offers nothing except charging me 5 times what my other brand dealer would for repairs. I just bought 2 new excavators of another brand told my cat dealer. They could care less. They are selling machines as fast as they hit the ground where I live. This boom isn't going to last forever. Everyone has conveniently forgotten 2008.

Make sure you post pics if you sell in Equipment Trader or the likes as us old school guys will think... a $45000 D3? What is wrong with it? Pass! I fully agree and bad move on Cat's part. So what are they going to call it 5 or 10 yrs from now? A revamped D6, D3 to a D3.5?
From the early 80's we always called Case the poor man's equipment. But on the flip side, I have owned a few Case pieces... 350, 450B, 850 and a Case 580 D backhoe. Had to go with the 350, and 450 for the size and weight. The 850 and 580D got dirt cheap.
A D3 replaces a D5 what a confusing mess.!!! Now with the cat graders they did something like the 140 replaces the 12 and the 150 is the same thing as an old 140 seriously what a disaster…. They should’ve left that one alone…. All they did is Make stuff so much more confusing… without Equipment having a letter behind it how are you going to tell when they’ve made upgrades years down the road without knowing what model we’re on.
I used to work at cat on wheel loaders. From day one, naming has always been confusing. How I make sense of it all is in the weight and horsepower of the machine. But on dozers, They try to keep the weight to horsepower in the 200-240 lbs/hp sweet spot. I recently bought a track loader based on it being less than 10 tons. I can haul it with a pickup truck and equipment trailer. The name has nothing to do with anything.
Be careful with Cat. The D3s are not the old D5s. The horsepower most certainly is not the same. At some point consumers will realize they are not getting 100 hp with the next gen D3s. Try before you buy!!!
If it ain't broke dont fix it!! I been operating cat equipment for years and love cat equipment but damn ??? Dont sell out... your new cat decal looks like a generic pack of cigarettes...
I have to agree. I started in the industry in the mid 80's after high school. I can't agree more with the decal. They need to go old school and keep the heritage!
Cat tries to copy Komatsu on integrated GPS at ALL times … apparently trying to copy the hood now as well from Komatsu.. I machines are MUCH better than anything Cat builds
The new way is simple! From the D5 and up, subtract 3 and that is the new system!! LOL D4 - 3 = D1, D5 - 3 =D2, D6 - 3 = D3.. They must have hired some new age school teachers to teach common core math! LOL
Again, I couldn't agree more! I just turned 49 and you say D2 D3 I think back of late 70's and 80's models like the D3B and D3C. The new decal SUCKS too!!! I think it was a very poor decision, but since when did Cat ever listen to their customers?
I love Dozer work, it's my passion

Great look for the new CAT! I used to work on the old models. Nice to see my old friend Joel!
Thanks for making these videos! Really enjoy them
Thanks Chris! Appreciate you watching.
Thought it interesting that the Cat Guy swivels lots in his seat when talking about fuel economy and environmental standards and when on safe ground he sits still.
Only dozer though that still has a letter is the D8T and the skidsteers are still on the D series with adding a 3 replacing the 2 for the new revamp
Just got turned on to your channel. Awesome. The D1 D2 D3 video is great. Operator visibility and the new digital display are key features. Thanks
Thanks Javier! Welcome aboard.
This video is quite helpful. Thanks.
Awesome , Thank you .
The Cat dozers look great but the price is more than a beautiful house .
Great video 👌.
What about the high track

Go back in History the Calf Dozer was also known as the "D1" back in the day like way back in the day when 56 chevy's were commonplace
Great presentation...
I was thinking, “wait, since when was there a D1 and D2 in production currently?”
I always thought it was dumb to call the d6k a d6 because it is way smaller than a d6r or d6t not even close to the same class
Well where Cat screwed up is is the D6R are more like a modern 7 or 8. They are going to have crap all screwed up now!
Cool!
Come on man this is 2020 , pounds? How many kg or Tonne ?
Bwahahahaha don't matter the year, metric is stupid.

I’ll take it lol
D1/D2/D3 all look same size to me
Lets see, the D6 I bought new a few years ago is now a D3! What's THAT going to do to my resale?? SR
Tell the prospective buyer it's condensed dozer?
Put spinners on the final drives and LED underlighting and you'll be onto a new trend

Case has been doing this for years. Once again this is cat playing catch up pretending there "class leading."
Case? Lmao with the single worst support and warranty in the industry! You couldn’t pay me to take another case dozer.

Why has d1 d2 d3 d4 not got high sprocket like bigger dozers won.t the sprocket were our qwick than if they put high lifd sprocket any 1 no why

Yep we seen what happened there and they went back to Coke Classic. Sadly, I don't think Cat is going to be as smart as the Coke brothers!
