Wonderful video of what appears to be logging in the Klamath River country. It is a bit curious seeing a mix of log trucks, some with cheese blocks and others with short stakes. I worked in logging around the Klamath for four summers, 1959 thru 1962 and I recall all trucks had short stakes by then. I never saw Autocars, most trucks were Peterbuilts, with some Kenworths and Internationals. The other curiosity is the old McCullogh chain saw, which was old technology and pretty much replaced with Homelites by that time. It would be interesting to get more information about the location and who the logger was.
I. wonder if these older trucks had water tanks Located behind the cab of the truck used too cool down the brakes going downhill in steep grades and. mountains too avoid the brakes over heating when they are applied and if they had. 3 stage Jake. brakes ( engine brakes ) switch on the dashboard of the truck / have a good day. very good. Video / Bill. S. Canada
Water Cooled BROKE MORE BRAKE DRUMS, ON SCOTT PAPER AND OTHERS, AS TIME did not allow remind er leaving landings. A DOUBLE BITTED AX SOLVED IT AFTER 5 OR 8 TRUCKS ALL were Down, brand NEW. OOPS, CUMMINS, And KW. Maybe a Pete was first one.🦉💛🌲🙏📞🐔☎️❗️
These Days we cannot even get Alcohol ( Tanner gas) through the lines inak. Ice Road Brand NEW KW, NEED to be Engines, Easier to Jerk OUT THAN JUST do a Top End, (Heads Off, and Valves, etc. Re Built, ground, and resurfaced, at. 220K Miles. Half of the normal Cummins top and bottom end, rebuild.
Not going to lie, it's kind of sad seeing the size of some of those trees they're hauling. Can't help but think how big they would be now if they were still growing. Interesting footage none the less.
PRICELESS FOOTAGE
THANK YOU
1962 was the year I was born, graduated in 1980 and a week later went to work for MacMillan Bloedel logging for 25 years, loved it
Thx so much for posting! A long gone era
Great old footage . I enjoyed watching this .😊
Wonderful video. Those lovely old truck and cats. And the loggers handling these incredible chainsaws. Thank you.
Very cool... thanks for posting!

Amazing film footage. Only time I've ever seen a 10-10 being run without a stinger handle on the other end. My uncle's always two manned monsters.
Nice timber they were logging. Lots of big limbs low on the trees. Have to be at a lower elevation, like Hupa, or WillowCreek.
I’d have to agree. Still see lots of 3 log loads running round here. Still lots of bigguns rolling down the road
Those are some big logs great footage
This was 5 years before the Patterson 🎥 film

Amazing the lack of safety gear compared to today. How did these guy last a year, let alone a career?
I like chainsaws. Just subscribed!
What part o northern ca is this? Just curious, looks kinda like my neck of the woods.
Three Trucks Still running pretty Doggone GOOD, ran two or three years in AK. 2003 to 2005❓️
Not much difference they really slow down when they reach a certain size

Wow, looks like CHEESE BLOCKS....haven't seen any of them in 50, or 60 years....
I was thinking the same thing. All stake trucks now.
