WOW!! What a first submission!! Can't wait to see your next one. Awesome grades all around. Congrats!!! CGC has stepped their game up substantially as far as time goes since the big boom. The worst part is waiting for them to accept them once they are there at the facility.
Thanks man, it was a pretty exciting submission! Hahaha I thought the exact same thing.... just waiting for that status to change on the cgc site was the worst lol.
Glad those ASM 375s came back 9.8s ... Had those books in bags/boards since the day I bought them back in the day. Congrats on a great submission! Looking forward to more videos like this dude!
Thanks brother! Yeah overall pretty good submission, only one book outside the 9s and more 9.8s than I was actually expecting. The X-Men 109 stings though haha
@@colossuscollector definitely check out those grader’s notes. I got my first submission back recently and was surprised by interior foxing that I didn’t catch significantly downgrading a couple books. There can be some hard to find flaws.
Loved watching you drop that immediate upgrade on the wall. I was sitting here chanting, "put it on the wall, put it on the wall" So satisfying watching you upgrade your PC. Congrats man!
CGC recently sent one of my book orders back to me. My order included pressing services. I challenged the grader’s notes on3 of the books and not very happy about the grades on others. I received an email reply from customer service saying that none of the books in my order were actually pressed. I was told that I could send them back for clean and press and I would receive a credit to be applied to future pressing services. I appreciate the honesty from CGC but wonder how many times this may have occurred with some of my past submissions.
Wow that’s crazy Louis! Glad they were upfront about it but you’re right, probably has happened to a lot of people and they didn’t even know. I haven’t used their pressing services before and I’m learning to do it myself now so I doubt I ever will, takes too long to get your books back from what I hear.
Great submission! Loved all the books, specially X-Men books and the ASMs! I tried to look up the Instagram seller you give shout out to but couldn't find him. So many users with that name.
Ahhh the dreadful polybag crease! I was a little worried about that on the two Ghost Riders but my presser did a great job on them clearly haha! Thanks for watching King!
Hey Jrico, another comment said the same thing, my bad! I thought the same thing when I rewatched the video. I'll definitely make sure to do that in the future! Thanks for watching!
In the future I might but it was my first submission, I just wanted to get my books in and give it a try. Not everything needed to be a 9.8 for me but some I probably should have held back. Thanks for watching brother!
How old am I? I remember buying the Fantastic Four #245 off the rack in 1982, that is how old I am. Wow, sending off something to CGC and getting that 9.8!!! Really great X-Factor collection. First appearance of Vindicator, I just bought that book as well. I am looking to buy the Bowen mini-bust of Vindicator but it is pricey as well.
@@colossuscollector May buy Vindicator at the end of the month need to see about funds then. Up until the last couple of years everything I bought was off the rack.
Congrats some great books. As a fellow Canuck I feel your pain on shipping to Canada. You said you are around St. Kitts I would suggest getting a mail box in Lewiston NY and driving over and get them their. I have all mine shipped to Port Huron and I save a lot of cash on broker fees and its so simple to get through Canada Customs. 25 books to Lewy will be $45 bucks and taxes on 25 books will be about $40cad. The only other fee is the handling fee at whatever mailbox company you use. I also got myself a copy of The Official CGC Guide to Grading Comics, it has tons of info and really helpful when trying to navigate CGC's grading points. Cheers
Hey Russ, thanks for watching! I'm closer to Hamilton so it would be about an hour to get to the border... I might look into that in the future but I have a fear of going through customs so I'd have to get over that haha. I got the CGC guide as well, working through it currently. Appreciate the advice brother! Thanks for watching!
Hey Tony, always nice to meet a fellow X-Men fan! Hope you subscribe to the channel, X-Men will be a big part of my content. Definitely get your books cleaned and pressed before you do! Cheers!
I was thinking about learning to press and then when I got better, pressing those books. I have some videos of some of my older books that you might be interested in.
Hey Jay, no problem! So total was $635 for 20 books, $480 for grading, $5 handling fee, $150 to ship back to me. All US $. Shipping there you pay yourself through Canada Post or other shipper. It's bonkers expensive lol. If you're going to pay the $150 for shipping you should submit the 25 book maximum to get the most for your money. There are tiers to the shipping though so if you're submitting a smaller amount the shipping is a little cheaper, check their site for the shipping price breakdown for international submissions. Thanks for watching!
As a fellow Canadian preparing for my first CGC submission I'd be super interested in a video about any lessons you learned about the submission process that might be specific to Canadians.
That Spider-Man #1 silver edition might have some very light tanning on the inside cover. I've seen it on many copies before. That would drop it to the 9.0 unfortunately
It wasn't in the grading notes but that's a great tip to watch out for in the future and its not like they don't forget to include notes so its definitely a good theory. Thanks Martin!
@@colossuscollector yeah the grading notes are a joke. You rarely ever get them, and when you do they are very vague. CGC knows they can get away with whatever they want
Another viewer already touched on this but I've had good success using pre-screen. I've done it for 9.6 to prevent getting the clunker back, like the Spider-Man 1 you got. You would have to separate out any big boys, like the 3 or 4 you had in the submission. Rejects aren't the end of the world and I've re-submitted and almost always gets slabbed the 2nd try. It's funny to have 9.6 reject - meaning it was thought to be a 9.4 at best - just sent back untouched and then get a 9.8. It's a pretty big difference on Modern between 9.4 and 9.8. Good Luck next time.
Thanks George, and thanks for watching! I probably will use prescreen in the future at times, just wanted to do my first submission and see how it would go... maybe a little waste of money but a good experience!
I like seeing the graded books. That being said I am not trying to rude. If maybe next video you can put submissions on a stand when you are explaining about them. In order for viewers to see. I enjoy seeing the artwork. Thank you. Other than that good video.
I am thinking of submitting my first CGC near the end of this year. Been slowly gathering some books. Do you have a suggestion on how many for a first? 10? or so
If you’re in Canada I suggest a submission with the 25 book max so you maximize the cost to ship but if you are in the US I don’t really think there’s an ideal number, whatever you’re ready for… that said a big submission is more fun haha
No I got my books cleaned and pressed before I sent them in. I have never used CCS the CGC press service… I hear the wait times for that are really long. Without that service I got my books back in like two weeks.
