While Lars even admits he is not the best drummer in the world, the man has contributed an amazing number of beats and songs. Listen to "And Justice for All". That album is a lesson in metal drumming. If you can faithfully emulate half of what is there, I'll give you huge video props on RUclips, facebook and everywhere else. Since most trolls don't back u their expertise with ANY video, we know where their comments come from: their ass. I love Meytal and have watched her play a bunch of originals and covers. She is quite talented. I will agree with those who fault the use of the "piccolo" tuned snare for this cover...the sound is just wrong...maybe better for a RHCP cover.
Yeah the snare is waaay too tight on this. It gives it a garage rock feel where it's hard to feel rest of drums over that loud 'pop' of snare.

Lars gets a lot of hate, but he is a seriously underrated composer. His drumming isn't over the top technically, but he has an awesome ear for complimenting the guitar play of Hetfield and Hammett. Videos like this really make that apparent.

Great cover, almost flawless. I found it weird how she did not use the floor tom at 4:58 and how she choked the cymbal at 7:17. Also, I think that her snare sounds way too cranked but tuning is just a matter of personal taste and the kick drum is very quiet compared to the rest of the drum kit.

Not the best sound, but I like it. Everyone else who doesn't like it, well that's your opinion.

I've been to 11 Metallica concerts. Lars really breaks a sweat and works so hard, here is Meytal, the same song. Meytal makes it look so damn easy. She smiles as she plays, she loves playing, she is so damn good - and she looks so fricking hot. If I could get back my 25 year old body (and age) I'd be going after her full steam. I love you Meytalll

i am older now, and while i still like Slipknot / Metallica and their ultra heavy music, it is something i tolerate far less, it is something to merely listen to once in a while, we outgrow certain types of music, and when we outgrow music, we accuse the artists of changing rather than us, it is human nature :)
P.S Music doesn't have to be fast to be heavy, as i am sure you have also heard the slow-burning type of grinding heavy metal music that we both once used to love in our younger years :)

I agree with everything you say except regarding meytal (or however it is spelled)
in my opinion she is just a mediocre drum banger, that gets views because she is fucking hot.
Seriously, listen to her pop songs.. she does well, but when you listen to her renditions of heavy metal or anything that requires strength and technical prowess she falls far short.
She is not strong enough to drum heavy metal, and her timing has quite a few gaps, ( holes actually)
I am not taking anything away from her, she is good at what she is capable of: though if she were a man, or a guy.. she would not have nearly the views that she does based on talent alone. Meytal is hot - hot equals views - hot female drummer = a ton of views - hot female metal drummer ( regardless of skill) = a shit ton of views.
Just look at how Paris Hilton is now earning a million dollars a set for "DJ'ing" No clue what she is doing and has her sets produced for her (much like meytal has her audio engineered for her)

Now THIS... is a challenge. Takes endurance to do a song like Master of Puppets... it's so heavy and fast I thought even the SF symphony struggled with it in the S&M album in my opinion. Still, great song!

Actually, I liked the snare - is that blasphemy? But I'm no connoisseur, only a huge Metallica fan since '84 (struck by Ride the Lightning - still listen to it almost daily, which sounds strange even to me :).

Yes it is, she left the Master snare in the van that day. It's edited out, but at the end of the video she broke the St Anger snare, that's why she doesn't have a St Anger cover
You need a St. Anger snare to do a St. Anger cover, and they only made 12 of them. Lars Ulrich has 7 of those 12, It's unknown where 2 of them are, 1 is in James Hetfield's collection of memorabilia, 1 was destroyed by Meytal Cohen, and 1 is owned by Julien's Auctions - to be auctioned at a later unreleased date. I'm guessing we'll hear a St. Anger drum cover from whoever buys the one from Julien's Auctions.

I hate Lars guts.. I think he is a pain in the ass.. BUT.. allthough not being the technical and most skilled drummers out there he does (for the most part) play drums that serves the song. With a few exceptions I think he is one of the best drummers in that regard. He doesnt over do it, nor does he "under do it". His drums contribute to the song and he keeps that very balanced. reinforcing the song where needen, and simply being the rhythm in the background when that is all that is needed.
Being a good drummer (or anything else in a band), in my opinion, is playing the way that serves and presents the song the best.
