And yea no I don't think CWs KO on Silva was luck, or Silvas KO of Vitor, those were just bad ass performances to me.. You have to acknowledge how good you have to be to KO Silva or Belford

    To those who still don't think Silva would've beaten (and maybe even humiliated) Wiedman at that point in his career, watch this video carefully and ponder on this: See how Griffin came forward with the combo when Silva knocked him out going backwards, reminds you of something? Wiedman did the same thing Griffin did in their first fight, but this time Silva didn't react fast enough, and got clipped with Wiedman's 3rd punch. If he had thrown that punch on Wiedman going backwards, just like he did to Griffin, he'd have KO'd Wiedman too. I actually do respect Wiedman, but... Prime Silva > Prime Wiedman

    • @TheWuCepticon1981
      @TheWuCepticon1981 10 лет назад +2

      just because he KO'd Forest like that, doesn't mean that would've worked on Weidman, two totally different fighters. plus, Weidman wasn't moving with nearly the amount of momentum for a collision with Silva's jab to cause a knock out, which is how Forest was knocked out in this case. and the rest is speculation, we''ll never know what a 30 year old Silva would've been had a prime Weidman came along back then, probably would've tainted Anderson's legacy early on.

    • @MrHambal24
      @MrHambal24 10 лет назад +6

      That was never a question, of course Prime Silva > Prime Weidman. I thought weidman was a fluke until the Machida fight, this showed that the guys a really good fighter, but he's never gonna be at the level that Anderson was...

    • @MrHambal24
      @MrHambal24 10 лет назад

      Rick Bishop I don't care if he was able to dominate 30 year old silva, he still wouldn't be on Silva's level. Silva has made legends look like trash and weidman can't do that. Weidman just has the advantage for Silva stylistically.

    • @TheWuCepticon1981
      @TheWuCepticon1981 10 лет назад

      MrHambal24 Weidman did make a legend look like trash, Anderson Silva lol. and he dominated Lyoto Machida. he's already dominated two legends, so far. who are all these legends that Silva made look like trash? with Vitor, he landed a lucky kick and never fought again (with whom i think a rematch would've went differently) and Dan Henderson? the only elite fighters that Silva really fought were Vitor and Henderson. the rest were tough guys, but not really legends. meanwhile, Jon Jones has defeated many legends.

      @KickingAssDaily Forrest Griffin is from a different Era. He would not be ranked in the top 15 in today's UFC.

    Hate when people compare him and izzy saying they're both counter strikers. Silva didn't just stay on the outside waiting on his opponent to rush in. After he was done making reads and flipped that switch and started walking them down, probing in and out with that signature movement. He made them make mistakes and found the perfect shot to put them away. Was never afarid to fight in the pocket at boxing range. Deadly from everywhere. Most finishes in title fight history for a reason. How quickly they forget. GOAT!

    What we didnt know at the time(and most still dont know) is that forrest griffin went into this fight extremely compromised. He was knocked out cold just days before in sparing. He was most likely fighting with a active concussion and a broken jaw. I believe anderson would have still won, but I would have loved to see this fight with both fighters at 100%.

  • @Idoitfortheskonkas
    @Idoitfortheskonkas 5 лет назад +5

    Forrest didnt believe he can beat Silva. You can clearly see Forrest wanted to get out of there from the go. He was scared, not committing to strikes. Forrest mentally checked out at 14:12 and his body followed.

      He said he failed his post fight drug test for that fight for xanax from the night before because he was so nervous, heard a rumor that they let it slide because of how embarrassing it was. I don't know how true that is but you gotta consider that was a different time and different drug testing rules.

    In an interview Forest mentioned he was so nervous for the fight and couldn't sleep he ended up taking a Xanax the night before and he said it slowed down his reaction time and his punches and kicks. And the reason he ran out of the ring is bc he said he was embarrassed by the knockout which probably wouldn't have been so embarrassing but since he took anxiety meds everything was just so much slower. I actually had that happen to me before. I got boxed up bc I took a pain pill before sparring and I just couldn't move like I normally did. I was like wth! It's embarrassing.
