      And then getting choked. You have to tap if you get choked. Its unfortunate for chael but silva outsmarted him you cant deny that. Maybe chael let his guard down all he had to do was sit on silva for 2 minutes and been world champ. But once youre fully cinched into a choke thats it.

    • @andrewhigdon8346
      @andrewhigdon8346 2 года назад +158

      @@mysteretsym that’s the problem though was thinking the way you stated. “All he had to do was sit on Silva”
      Nope. All he had to do was prevent one of the greatest fighters ever with incredibly well rounded skills from doing what he does best. And that is, get the upper hand just when his opponent thinks they have either an opportunity to attack, or an opportunity to breathe. Do that with Silva one too many times and it will be over in a flash. Silva took more of a beating than I’ve ever seen him take, and by that many times over. But it just goes to show what a champion he is. No matter how tired he might have been, which he never was, or how disoriented he may have become, which never happened, or how desperate he might have gotten, which also never happened, he will either quickly end it, or wait for his opponent to make a few mistakes, and size that opportunity. Bruce Lee said it. “When my opponent expands, I contract, and when they contract, I expand, and when the opportunity comes, I don’t hit, it hits all on its own”. He was watching Sonnen’s face, very, very, carefully, and could read when his guard was down, in his mind is what I mean. Silva just casually, casually, slips that leg over, and locks in the triangle. Done. If there was ever a time when Anderson Silva used every ounce of power he had, it was right there with his legs, crushing Chanel. Incredible. Simply incredible.

I honestly think Silva wanted to beat him via sub the whole time and that’s why he didn’t offer much resistance to the takedowns. I doubt he intended to get punched in the head 300 times, but at the end of the day he won, and to say Silva isn’t a good fighter is just being disingenuous. The man is one of the GOATs.

      I bet it DOES. He promised his father on his death bed that he would be world champion, and he was 2 minutes away from it. He was reckless in those final moments, he only needed to coast it from there. Silva could do nothing to him from that position until Chael stupidly gifted him that triangle choke. I bet Chael doesn't live a day without regret for that. Quote from Chael: "I'd give EVERYTHING to be World Champion for one day"... Still doubt he's haunted? He is. I guarantee you.

But with that said, the best punches are those from top where bottom is lifting their head up but gets caught on the way, jolting back down and then bouncing back up again after hitting the floor for two jolts on the brain.

    I was there live that night. Anderson was/is my favorite fighter so i was so excited to see the man fight live. As this fight progressed, round after round of getting taken down and smothered, I thought "oh man. of all the nights I cam to see him live, he's going to lose. great." and then those final seconds happened. In the stands, there's no commentary, so you're just kind of trying to see what's happening on the ground through the big screens. The ref called it off, and we all kind of stood there in silence, almost as if- 'wait, what just happened!?' After we realized he caught him in a triangle and won, we all lost our shit. It was amazing. I have a picture with Anderson from 2 days prior at an open workout in Concord, and I kept the ticket in the same picture frame. Greatest fight I've been to.

      What a night! You watched one of his greatest fights live, man. Maybe you didn’t watch him overwhelm and dismantle his opponent as he usually did most of his fights, but you were there when he pulled off an incredible win at the very last round, after losing the whole match, he won against all odds during the bout itself. He defeated a legend like Chael Sonnen on the ground! I think that it made it more unique and special watching him win a title fight that was already lost than other performance.
